"The North Korean Nuclear Crisis What You Aren't being Told"
Kontra Kommando replied to DeathevokatioN's topic in Everything Else
I'm totally for national sovereignty; each nation has a right to pursue it's own interests for the good of their own citizens. When it comes to foreign affairs, I believe in realism, or "real politik" as the french call it. Nevertheless, war should always be the last measure taken for conflict resolution. However, with N. Korea threatening nuclear war, I would have already attacked if I were president. However, i wouldn't embark in occupation or nation-building, I'd cripple their infrastructure, try to eliminate their leadership. Then I would just back pro-U.S. forces to stage a coup d'etat in the aftermath. Perhaps even back S. Korea in reuniting the peninsula. -

Five Years And Nothing To Show: How Doom 4 Got Off Track
Kontra Kommando replied to Kinsie's topic in Doom 2016
When I think of how Doom 4 should play, i feel the enemy AI should utilize coverage in gun-fights to some degree, but should generally be gung-ho, ruthless, and suicidal. I picture gangs of marauding shotgunners using their numbers to take you down, not really caring about taking a hit, since they're crazed, reanimated, and possessed. What Doom 3 was missing were huge climatic battles against dozens of expendable enemies in large areas; I feel that's what gave Doom, and Doom 2 its character. The classic Doom games were much more chaotic, and that's what made them better in my opinion. For me, levels like E1M4, E3M3, and E4M2 are definitively Doom; the music, the layout; and the enemy placements. -

North Korea would be wiped off the face of the planet if they went through with an attack on the USA. Not only would the United States retaliate, but most of the rest of the world as well. Even China, N. Korea's ally, has condemned their actions, and endorsed the crippling sanctions on their country. I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually lay waste to their infrastructure, and we should! -
I agree, people need to write to their House Reps, and senators. Moreover, joining and supporting interest groups is a useful method as well. Lobbyists, and PAC usually get a bad wrap. But there are groups of all kinds that people can support to help make a difference. For example, I recently joined an interest group dedicated to taking down Red-light cameras as being unconstitutional.

If he is the man most responsible for Doom 3 and Rage, than yes, he should be replaced.

[Demo WAD Update 3/28/13] Infernal Immolation: E3 Replacement
Kontra Kommando posted a topic in WAD Releases & Development
[Update 3/28/13] Link to Demo : http://www.moddb.com/members/kontra-kommando/addons/infernal-immolation-demo The Infernal Immolation Demo features the first 3 levels of the upcoming Doom Episode 3 replacement WAD; E3M1, E3M2, and E3M3. Description: Alternate-Universe to original Doom Year : 2046 A.D. Within deep space, absolute evil has emerged in the teleportation laboratory aboard the U.S.S. Ridley. Demonic beings have slaughtered the initial squad of marines, while others fled in terror. Overhearing the carnage, a nearby lone marine, Doomguy, fearlessly advances forward to learn the bloody fate of his comrades. Upon entering, malevolent spirits had taken control of the ship’s computer system, sealing Doomguy within the area. Instead of cowering in a corner awaiting death; Doomguy defiantly journeys into the depths of Hell to wage war on Satan’s children. [3/26/13] Five more snapshots added of E3M2. http://www.moddb.com/members/kontra-kommando/images/e3m2-scorn-of-baphomet-v-20 [3/25/13] http://www.moddb.com/members/kontra-kommando/images/e3m1-the-abyss-stares-back-screenshots1 Here are a couple of screenshots of E3M1, "The Abyss Stares Back". Moreover, I am currently finishing up E3M2, linking the progress-line of levels one and three. Level 4 has been sort of an odd work in progress, I spend time working on it periodically, while I work on other levels. E3M8 is basically complete as well; I am experimenting with unconvential methods of defeating the final boss. I feel that this episode is sort of evolving into a survivor-horroresqe type of senario. The player will have to ration their ammo, and do their best to not take damage. [3/21/13] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1wCJ7kFHM8 Currently I’m in the process of creating an episode replacement of Inferno, entitled “Infernal Immolation”. The video I provided is a demonstration of the first level of this project, “The Abyss Stares Back”. I estimate Infernal Immolation is about 40% complete. The map I provided in an earlier thread, “Blood of the Anti-Christ”, will be mission 3 of this episode. Unfortunately, the software I used for the video was unable to capture sound, and it also has an annoying arrow marker in the center. Nevertheless, I hope you all enjoy this demonstration. -

Once I have all the levels consturcted, I will play test through them, and mess around with stuff. I'm also going to have my brother play test it as well. That way I can see how someone that doesn't already know the lay out of the map, plays. I saw that he was also was taking some time to figure that part out too. -

Let me know what you think of E3M2, it's actually an improved version of that first map I posted. -
It might be better to save the weaker links for the island, so you can better exert power over them. (If that's what you plan on doing) Bobby could be a simple but effective informant/spy Dr. Gonzalez is valuable for his medical expertise, but frail enough to be controlled. Mrs. Garcia, because her past as a prostitute shows she can be manipulated. Mary Evan, because she could probably still be influenced at age 18 [form a sexual relationship] Jean Garcia, she could be raised to be loyal. Moreover, Mary Evans could be charged with her care, becoming a 2nd mother, further re-enforcing influence over the child’s development. When she grows up, she can take Bobby's place as a spy. Further, Bobby could then become your muscle by the time he reaches his late teens.

I immediately liked Dr. Dane because he is almost exactly like me. The difference is I'm not a professor, or have a mentally retarded son.

Something weird has happened.
Kontra Kommando replied to Kontra Kommando's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Yea that was me, I had posted the link to the download in the blog area. However the link to the add-on is no longer hosted on my page. Nevertheless, I was able to credit myself as the level designer on the link of id's page. Still waiting on a response from the admins. -
Hello, does anyone else here use moddb.com? I was curious as to what has happened to the WAD I uploaded to my page. It has been taken down, and when I search for it, it comes up only on Idsoftware's page. Does this mean they own it, and have prevented me from hosting it? I have e-mailed the admins there, but just hoping somebody here might shed some light on this in the meantime. Thanks

I see robots doing the heavy labor, and construction. But once its terraformed, or a base set up for habitation, I think eccentric millionaries and billionaires would probably be the first. There will need to be scientists and engineers living there as well. I definitely think the private sector will be bankrolling the projects. Perhaps the biggest push will come if states figure out how to regulate the world economy; Mars and moons can be the future tax-free havens.

Jobs - the kind worth getting vs. the ones to avoid
Kontra Kommando replied to Reaper978's topic in Everything Else
You should take heart in the fact that the shittier jobs will always be harder, and pay less. While the higher your position, the less work you'll have to do, and the more money you could make. For example, when I started working at back as a teenager, I busted my ass in a warehouse, loading trucks in 100 degree weather, alongside rude and hostile scumbags, for $6.50 an hour. Then I got a job at CVS, I still loaded trucks from time to time, but it paid better, and was treated with a little more respect. Then I got a job with the state, working in an office. Air-conditioning, vacation, working with my head instead of my hands, and finally respect. Now, I have an even better job, and let me tell you, the improvement is exponential on all fronts. Just go to school, and work on the side, and you will be alright. Also, don't get a criminal record (especially with drugs), or fuck up your credit; employers look at that. -

Kontra Kommando replied to Reaper978's topic in Everything Else
My philosophy is that any job is worth getting if you're unemployed; if one doesn't cut it, than you need two. Moreover, the best degrees to get are STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) as well as finance. Chemical and pharmaceutical engineers are probably the best paid out of college. Nevertheless, you can still be successful if you choose a degree that is not within those fields. Employers mostly look for work experience, a college degree helps, but it really only demonstrates to them that you are able to see a daunting task through; that you possess discipline. I majored in political science and history, and I'm in a good job. -

Well, in the meantime, you can watch me play Doom on youtube. It's free of charge. -
It would kind of be like Bioshock-Doom. Food for thought: There could be schools of fish on a transparent texture scrolling horizontally, while bubbles on another transparent texture scrolls vertically behind it. That would look cool behind windows.
