The soundtrack is almost too good for the game

That would have been better than Djentstep imo. EDIT: I think this confirms my theory that the Doom 2016 OST is djentstep. Mick Gordon is a djent musician. http://got-djent.com/bands/all/m http://got-djent.com/band/mick-gordon http://got-djent.com/release/doom-ost

The soundtrack is almost too good for the game

I feel like this is the aspect of the soundtrack that i'm not that fond of. The original doom OST was midi-style Thrash. Edit: I feel that the thing I dislike the most about the djent style, has more to do with the tempo of the drums that can accommodate it. I like stuff that's more rhythmic; it doesn't necessarily have to be fast. I just hate it when metal tries to be too avant-garde, and technical, that it makes the song just boring as hell to listen to. IMO djent sounds like Morse code done with a guitar; not my cup of tea. The thrash/shredding style, invokes more excitement, attitude and adrenaline, which is what I like for a FPS like Doom. Bonus: According to metal-archives, djent is not true metal. According to some, djent, within and of itself, has dubstep-like admixture. Thus it is not attributed to the electronic-sounding aspect of the Doom soundtrack. Rather, its the progression of the notes, and the sporadic inconsistent tempo that's the real turn off for me. http://www.metal-archives.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=81714 Edit 2: The MA-user, kingnuuuur, on the thread mentions something called djentstep. This is most likely, what you could consider the Doom (2016) ost I think. Edit 3: Context for people that don't know what I'm talking about.

    Post your Doom textures!

Here's some old Alien's hive textures I replaced overtime. Perhaps they could be utilized for a different Giger-esque map.

    How was your Easter?

We ate and drank well. We have great parties for the holidays. Here's just some of the food we ate. Smoked salmon, with olive oil, parmigiana cheese, red onions, and capers. Green peppers, olives, prosciutto, and fresh mozzarella.

But isn't the topic of the thread about this person though?

This guy hates Doom for sure

This guy puts a lot of impotent-rage and energy, making these blogs. Yet, nobody is listening to him. Below are some pics of his pages, so you don't have to contribute to his shitty pages' visitor counter. https://www.facebook.com/culturevg https://www.youtube.com/user/insomniacult https://twitter.com/culturevg

    Doom vs Heretic

I guess I like Doom more, by the virtue of the fact that I'm far more familiar with it. I certainly put a lot more mileage on it, and have utilized the software to create stuff. But I'd say Heretic was genuinely creeper, and more interesting. I think the Gargoyles make for a cooler staple-enemy, than the Imps. However, I haven't played Heretic nearly as much.

This guy hates Doom for sure

This article speaks for itself. This guy sounds like crude/pretentious/douche. Not somebody I would like to even associate with, on any facet of life. He claims that he was in High School in 1994, but he sounds like a child. What an embarrassment to humanity.

    Alien: Legacy (Official Map Demonstration)

We're going to drop down the speed of the player to probably 25%-50%. I even was thinking of making a stamina function, so the player can run for a limited duration.

    Charlie Murphy dead at 57

Its a tragedy. RIP I really liked him on the Chappelle Show, and Black Jesus.
  14. Changing the music of Fallout 3, to Ennio Morricone's themes for movies like "The Thing" (1982) helped make it more interesting. I also included atmospheric music from The Terminator (1984), Escape from New York (1981) and other OSTs from games like Resident Evil. With a game like that, its good to play it vanilla the first time around. But changing it up, helps to create an even cooler experience IMO. Lots of games take influence from movies. I think its cool to make these influences more pronounced by using the actual soundtrack.

Old Gaming Mags Were Full of Crap Too

I was a subscriber to the original Game Players. Back then, I had total confidence in their reviews. But I was also like, 10 years old.

    Next Total War

I recently played a Grand Campaign of Rome II: Total War, with a bunch of steam mods. First and foremost, changing the soundtrack was a must for me. First I had a mod that replaced it with old movie scores, found in films like Ben Hur (1959). It was pretty cool, but the sound levels were totally inconsistent, and it became irritating after a while. But after that I installed, in my opinion, the best mod for the game; which is the original OST from the first Rome: Total War. Not only for nostalgia purposes, but it was just simply cooler, and more epic that the Rome 2:TW OST. Another thing I changed, was the ugly interface cards. I get that they wanted it to look like painting on pottery. But screen caps of the actual units not only looks better, but is more functional. It was kind of annoying trying to sort through the unit cards when they look very similar. Another mod that I implemented was a better looking ocean texture. Also, disabling the HDR lense effect on the in-game battles; it made it look clearer. I also implemented better looking blood sprites, but honestly, I barely noticed a difference. All these mods, with the patches they've made over the years, have made this game actually worth playing. I had a good time playing it. But honestly, I think EA has some pretty shitty business practices. Like the countless DLC, which makes the game cost over $100, still to this day, if you want all of it. I must be missing half of the DLCs.

    Most recent movie you saw

Out for Justice (1991) Above the Law (1988) Two classic Steven Seagal action movies. I don't care if they're cheesy, I think they're highly entertaining.

    Alien Trilogy (UD)

I'm using the assets provided by Lex Safonov's version of Alien Trilogy (TC). He was able to extract the assets. Basically, I'm making a version of Aliens: The Ultimate Doom, but with Alien Trilogy graphics. https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=53700&p=978357#p978357 Thus far, I've converted all of the enemies to the game. They behave like the monsters in Aliens: the Ultimate Doom. Moreover, I've added more blood and gore to the death states. All the weapons have been converted as well. I still need to add more content to the game before I can release it, but check out the video, and pics below. //Pictures

    Alien Trilogy (UD)

Here's an example of the wall textures I've assembled from the original alien trilogy patches. For Doom 2, the sky texture will be replaced by an heavily edited version of the cut screen from Alien vs Predator (SNES). Sort of reminds me of blade runner.

Bill Paxton passes away at age 61.

I'm going to personally dedicate the release of my next aliens mod to the memory of Bill Paxton. RIP

    Alien Trilogy (UD)

Here are the warrior rotation attacks sprites. The original game never had rotations for the attacks, because there wasn't any in-fighting. I utilized existing sprites as a foundation to create these edits. Some sprites, like the 5 frames (aka back frames) are recycles of unaltered existing frames, but rearranged to mimic the frontal frames.
