  4. Jimmy: I thought that'd be the case, haha. Oh well... I'm not a huge proponent of the Bobby Prince "What if Slayer wrote twelve-bar?" style so I went and added too much funk, as usual. Don't bother cleaning up the tune; I should probably withdraw so that someone more adherent to that approach can take my slot.

    Toughest DOOM II maps, from a pistol start

    Map 04 and Map 10 seem ludicrous on UV -Fast. I realise I'm not a good player but those scenarios kill you in the most ludicrous and immediate fashion most of the time. (All of the time if you're me)

    Really nice looking levels! given the Plutonia theme I suppose I was expecting to see Revenants in the first twenty seconds, pleasantly surprised that it started out gentle.

  11. MAP10 of Doom 2, E1M3 and E1M6 of Doom are my holy trinity of original Doom levels. Fun to play, risky, massively generous secrets and shotgun guys everywhere! E1M1, E2M1 and E3M1 are probably my least favourite. Let me get to the bigger maps quicker! ;3
  12. Can you pencil me in for MAP26? that's a favourite of mine... I've made many MIDIs in my life, lost most of them, but here are a few recent things which are more pensive and funk inclined; 1 2 3 I can always throw together some hard rock twelve bar if that's what I decide the level demands, haha... let me know!

  14. I'm new and interested in contributing something, should it meet the project manager's standards, but don't full grasp the limit removing requirement. Can I just make a map in DEU which is too big for doom.exe to save safely and thereby be considered limit-removing?
  15. I believe DEU ate my first map around seventeen years ago! Needless to say was a corridor full of imps and zombies with hundreds of shell packs strewn across its length.

    the entire first side of Tubular Bells was packed into one of those Pleiades levels, I think! and I'm fairly sure I've heard Kraftwerk "Metropolis" as a MUS, too. Not "pop", perhaps, but definitely popular music by my standard!

    o E1M6 is my favourite level of all time, I've been playing since the game was released and I've still never beaten it on Nightmare. I must be a casual :D
  18. update: I fixed it (an error with using the wrong IWAD to create the pnames and textures tables; resolved.) Feel free to delete this entirely useless and faintly silly thread. >:) Hi, I put up a level in newstuff, having tested with an old version of the vanilla game and so thinking it was in working order, but have just now tested the same in Ultimate Doom, using DosBox, and it tells me this: W_CacheLumpNum: 7449 >= numlumps and during loadtime, a number of messages like: R_GenerateLookup: column without a patch (STEPTOP) R_GenerateLookup: column without a patch (SW1GARG) Can anyone decipher these bugs for me? Thanks for humouring a bad modder! edit: ZDoom launches the level perfectly (but is ZDoom ;P) chocolate-doom launches the level with a hilariously broken texture table
    first two episodes play like classic Doom with some cool ideas, ammo everywhere, no overdetailing etc. last episode is a giant wall of meat! barons everywhere, gets challenging at times with sniping shotgun dudes and far less generous with the ammo and supercharges. enjoyed it a lot.

    I adore these experimental, exploratory maps! I wouldn't say detail is lacking, either - lots of work has clearly gone into crafting the likeness of real or pseudo-real places. There aren't borders all over the place? Who cares? Get lost in this amazing map pack!

    Ultima 1

    i loved Ultima Underworld, still do, and did recognize the layout of the upper level while playing this WAD. Texture choices were a little suspicious, though; I would have expected more STONE2 and less GRAY4 >:) 1994 difficulty, a fun romp. ps, the exit switch is in Navrey's lair

    cs99cjb: you might wanna rush towards the green armor, it feels like the turning point where you take control to me. I liked the map! I saw some places where repeated step textures would cause problems in doom.exe and in general felt that I'd already pacified the level before seeing a key, but I appreciated the way the texture variety compensated for the simple, plausible architecture and I just generally like mowing down zombies, so thumbs up!

    it's an old school level, easier than doom2.wad with a few misjudged traps. Not actively bad or anything, a simple brick level.

    a town map with lots of secret hunting. Too much GRAY* wall really.
