    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

I'm 12 years old and what is this?
  2. With the advent of multiple new standards for classic Doom format mapping, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a comprehensive resource that covers this information quickly. The intent with this thread is to pull information for the new standards together and make players aware of these cool new features, modders to get an idea of what is available to them, and source port authors to test these additions to their engines. If you have a resource or release that is not listed below, please post and I will attempt to add it timely. DEHEXTRA What Is It? DEHEXTRA is an extension for DeHackEd patches. It is not considered a new lump, but an extension to the existing DeHackEd framework. It provides a significant increase in the number of things and sprites that can be utilized, in addition to the inclusion of 2,910 new states or codepointers. New states can be used to: add new map object types add new non-replacing monsters add new non-replacing decorations add additional frames to existing actors for smoother animations Knowledgebase DoomWiki Article Doom Retro DEHEXTRA Spec Sheet Doomworld DEHEXTRA Thread ZDoom Wiki Article Releases Using the Feature Black Ops (Smooth Weapon Mod) - Conversion of "PerK's Smoother Weapon Animations Enhanced (Black Gloves Edition)", by VGA. Experimental Mixed Bag Salad - 5-Map pack featuring extended dehacked features, by Redead-ITA. Pact of the Damned - 4-Map pack featuring new monsters and a modified arsenal. By Blue Phoenix. Supports modern feature sets, including DEHEXTRA. By Exl. DSDehacked What Is It? Specification and standard aimed at removing several limitations as imposed by DeHackEd. It is an extension to the MBF21 specification regarding raising the limits of things, states, sprites and sounds in DeHackEd, but it can also be supported separately. Knowledgebase DoomWiki Article DSDHacked Spec Sheet Releases Using the Feature Tools DECOHack - Part of DoomTools editing suite. Uses a DECORATE-like language scheme for creating DeHackEd patches. By MTrop. MBF21 What Is It? MBF21 is a modern spec built on top of additions made to the Boom and MBF line of source ports. It introduces a range of new features that seek to improve the capabilities available in levels and mods. Some of the key new features include, but are not limited to: New actor flags, exposing a whole ton of previously-hardcoded actor behaviors (e.g. splash damage immunity and boss death triggers), plus a few new things like ripper projectiles and low gravity Weapon flags, make your weapons silent, customize autoswitch-on-pickup behavior, etc. A lot of new DeHackEd codepointers, with up to 8 customizable args. This allows mods to feature custom weapons and monsters easily Granular control over monster infighting and projectile/splash damage susceptibility (e.g. you can make barons and knights infight, or make imps immune to cacodemons and barrels, and all sorts of funky combinations) A proper "ammo per shot" field for all weapons, not just the BFG Improvements and additions to sector and linedef specials Extension of MBF's OPTIONS lump. Allows wad authors to set a series of variables that affect engine behavior. What is the best dwango?

  5. I have never personally seen, nor heard, of anyone attempting to modify the Doom source code. It's kind of an insane idea and if anyone ever tries, they deserve to be locked up.
  6. Paintshop Pro (PSP) was widely used for doom graphic editing back then. I remember it having a lens flare effect like this. My money is on PSP or something similar.

    Share Your Sprites!

This is pretty sweet. I think from a mechanical perspective, you could make your life easier by not going through the frames of their arms swinging. Arms swing opposite to a person's gait. That's not going to be the case when your lower portion is wheels.
  8. Knew a guy once. He took a palette without permission. Got sued. Lost everything. Now he lives in a van down by the river.
  9. I haven't had time to get into this fully, but fyi I soft locked the map at the secret berserk pack by jumping onto the ledge afterwards and then running out to the pyramids
  10. What up. I decided to post this in Doom General because it concerns aspects of community modding, wad releases, and multiplayer all together. Doom Central, a new platform for Doom resources and community projects, will soon launch. Think of it as a supplement to all the good stuff going on here at Doomworld right now. Our mission is to 1) serve as a comprehensive hub for modding and community projects by providing streamlined resources and tools; 2) introduce more people to Doom multiplayer (but not exclusively multiplayer); and 3) aid other, underserved areas of the community with new resources based on their feedback. A lot of this is in the pipeline and more details are to come. Doom Central's projected launch window coincides with QuakeCon 2023 and so, we are thrilled to announce Take the Crown 2023, set to take place at QuakeCon 2023 in Dallas. The main event will be played live at Quakecon 2023, but there are going to be several online events open to anyone (yes, that means YOU) in the lead-up to Quakecon. Each event will allow players to qualify for Steam gift cards - all you have to do is register, show up, and have fun. At QuakeCon, over $250 in prizes will be given away to players who participate live! As always, expect to see everyone's favorite King@Dime, and his cohort @dew, leading the charge by streaming the event live. We'll also have other streamers rostered and announced closer to the event. This year, Take the Crown is excited to feature Vesper Deathmatch. Vesper Deathmatch is a community project created by 17 mappers and artists in the Doom Central community. It was made in close collaboration with the legendary @Xaser, who created the innovative MBF21 weapons mod. VesperDM is a crazy showcase of high-tech and demonic weaponry scattered against a backdrop of space casinos, hellish pits, and interdimensional techno nightmares. Most importantly, it's fun as hell. We think you're going to really like it too, which is why we're super excited to share this with the Doom community over the next couple of months before it all comes together with a live tournament at QuakeCon 2023. If you've never played multiplayer before, now's your chance to try something new. The four free-play events leading up to QuakeCon are low-stakes and a fun way to get your feet wet. Join our discord, drop into some play sessions with us, and let's have some fun! If you're attending QuakeCon 2023, come get some early practice and compete for cash money in Dallas. To register for the events or if you just come hang out, join the Doom Central Discord. The event schedule is below: Event Schedule: Weekly Event #1: Saturday, June 17th, 2023 @ 3PM EDT (7PM GMT) ~ One registered player wins a $20 Steam Giftcard Prize! Weekly Event #2: Saturday, July 1st, 2023 @ 3PM EDT (7PM GMT) ~ One registered player wins a $20 Steam Giftcard Prize! DOOMKID.wad - 6 New Maps

Finally, the myhouse sequel we've all been waiting for
  12. The unfortunate and realistic answer is: probably not.

    Source Port Idea.

Mock 2 predates UDMF by like a decade probably E: a half decade it turns out
  14. Ralphis

Which source port is closest to Unity?

You can change wads on-the-fly in the Odamex client, via the wad command in console. I think there are also a couple hard coded features that make use of it, like if you load BFG edition, you can choose No Rest for the Living as an episode and it will load it on the fly too

    This is Woof! 14.3.0 (Mar 15, 2024)

Your other reasons aside, I'd like to explore this. Odamex has hosted competitive leagues with players from a high level across four continents simultaneously. It's also hosted events with dozens (even hundreds) of players in the same server. What issues were you having that would indicate it handles network traffic "rather poorly?" The overwhelming majority of users have never said anything of the sort.

When did you "peak" as a mapper?

Let me tell you something, I haven't even begun to peak. And when I do peak, you'll know. Because I'm gonna peak so hard that everybody in Doom's gonna feel it.

    Dreamed features in editors

re: background images. I have used it to success, but its functionality could be improved. Being able to select the image and then scale it by hand so that you can fit it over the grid quickly without fiddling with the tool box values.

Me and my best friend used to bump this album for years

    Best mac source port

Odamex should work fine on OSX. Some of the devs even use it as their primary OS.
  20. I just played through the demo map and map02. Everything seems to work fine except for the mortar zombie, which you are correct has something going on with it. I would say that this is largely compatible rather than "don't work". I'm not sure what's with the mortar. I see you didn't use decohack, so I'll have to look into those specific frames when I can get some time and try to see what's up with the behavior. Nobody has reported this before now so it's a possible blind spot.
  21. ??? Odamex has no decorate support and never has. Not sure what you're referring to here. What issues are there with MBF21 support? Odahorde and Hordamex have something like 90 unique MBF21 monsters between them and everything seems to work fine. The only issue I can think of is that +RIP is broken currently, but there is a tracker out on it.
  22. sounds like a personal problem
