    I woke up this morning and discovered that the following have died at home:

    * Mum's computer (hopefully the HD's are ok because I have 90gb of downloaded stuff on there)
    * Microwave
    * Bathroom power socket

    I presume that the following are also dead, but never checked:

    * Cable modem
    * Sound system in lounge room
    * TV in lounge room
    * Mum's alarm clock

    Fortunately, my alarm clock was alright. I haven't checked my shitbox yet, but since that wasn't left on overnight (it never is), I have a feeling that it's safe."

      Direct from the aussie:

      "Good news! (somewhat)

      It turns out a fuse had overheated and was shut down, affecting everything that was using it. Fortunately everything is a-ok!"

      So it was a false positive alarm. Looks like I will be doing /newstuff this week, but I better back up as much as possible.
