  1. That's what I scored on an online IQ test. I have no clue if it's good or not. Please enlighten me.

How is knowledge of history related to IQ?

It has more to do with "relearning" history. Specifically, learning first that Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas, then learning that there were some before him, i.e. Amerigo Vespucci, Leif Ericsson, St. Brendan, etc. etc.

I still don't see how that is related to intelligence.

Ok, now we know the exact factor we must use to normalize the skew of IQ tests... 0.64.

  2. OK, I made a blog about this a long time ago. I had confirmation today that I would have my passport in time so here it goes:

    • January the 17th, 7:29pm: Arrival at San Jose.
    • January the 22th, 7:43pm: Arrival at Chicago.
    • February the 1st, 6:05pm: Departure back to Paris.
So if you happen to be around one of these places, let me know. I'll be quite busy at San Jose but evenings should be off and some days are negotiable.

Bah, I wasn't on the right side of the 'plane to get any good pictures of downtown Chicago, but I got some decent ones of the Chicago area and the Great Lakes. Not as good as the ones of Greenland though. :)

      I'll upload a few when I get a moment.

  3. Heh, this is the blog forum, right?

  4. Yes, I'll be at San Jose from 01/18/2004 to 01/22/2004. I have an article accepted at a conference. I sure would like to meet guys there so let me know.
And to think I didn't manage to get to the UK this summer. Anyway, plane tickets will get paid by the uni, wheee!

It depends, who knows what holiday rates might still be in effect. My sister's husband has been working for a major airline for a long time now, maybe he could hook you up with a deal. I'll ask him and see. Also remember you'd be staying for free so plane tickets would be your only expense. If they're really that expensive I could contribute a little bit to the cause =)

Sounds like a plan. As soon as I have some news about the congress program, I'll let you know when I have to leave San Jose. And I do expect to see you there, bs... heh, and SoM damnit! And arioch. Wheee.

Well, depending on when the new semester starts, I might have to skip a few classes...unless I were to visit on the weekend of course.

Do you know that the Merovingian is not just a character from the Matrix Reloaded but also a French descendant of Jesus whose bloodline the Knights Templar supposedly protected? I didn't know that, until I read it here.

  5. I'd like to go visit fellow doomers in England sometime this summer (something like a week-end or so). I can easily get to London Luton Airport, but I'd need someone to come and take me there.
From there, I'd like to meet as many limey doomers as possible. Let me know guys.

Never intended to. What happens in the forums stays in the forums.

  7. Still on the table. I'm currently studying Crystal Space.

  8. Right. I think I should update a bit about ROR implementation in Eternity.
It appeared to me that the best way to handle rors was to get rid of the splits in the bsp. As such, a portal oriented renderer would be needed so I'm currently working on an in-engine bsp 2 portal converter. Since the bsp will still be kept as it is, there shouldn't be any demo comp issue.
Once this (quite enormous) task is done, I will be able to work on a node builder of a new type: a portal cell calculator in short.
This will have some very good side-effects: no more line splits which means no more seg limit (only line limit), faster rendering, view effects goodies (mirrors, impossible architectures and so on).
    I'll keep you posted.
