    If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for what to add or change, I'd be glad to hear them! I welcome criticism, as I want to make these the best they can be!

      Oh, also, this is for use in GZDoom, so the lighting is painted on.

      Just for laughs, how about this:

       

      Leave the head off like it is now. Instead, put it in one of its hands to hold by the hair (if any). When it sees you, the head would scream and the eyes light up with a sickly yellow/green glow. The other hand could swat at you with those claws and the first hand could raise up the head so it could shoot something out of its eyes. Meanwhile, blood could sput out of the neck periodically.

      Doesn't match the desired tone, but I could reserve it for a cheat code or secret level! (Also works with the design of the monster)

  3. I still haven't finished rigging the first model, but now I'm moving onto the second:

    I didn't make a SculptGL reference for this model beforehand, so it's a little more work fashioning it from the side, but it's coming along nicely so far.

      The torso was inspired by the Scrag - I thought those stumpy claws-for-arms were really cool.

  9. I have finally conquered Blender's forboding maze of grey tabs! Sorta... anyway, have my first ever """""real""""" model (that is, not just pooped out in SculptGL and was actually made with labour).

    Those hands were a nightmare to do, and now I've got four more to do! :D

    (Well, technically two more, because I'm using the mirror modifier, but...)

     

    Oh, here's the "concept" model I made in SculptGL, so that I knew what to aim for in low-poly.

    Man, when this thing janks around in-game, Quake-style, it's gonna give me restless nights.

    Anyone know how to turn off model animation interp in GZDoom?

      Oh, cripes, I definitely wasn't able to learn the functionality of Blender in a day - I'd attempted (albeit vainly) to roll up my sleeves and get into modelling as easily as Doom Builder since about a year ago - but there was just so much to remember and so much stuff that can go wrong unless you're following every word of a tutorial!

       

      Yesterday, I just found a great tutorial series simply called "Character Modelling" and that was no nonsense, dive-right-into-it kinda stuff. So, I managed to make... something!

       

      It would be so cool if there was some kind of easy, Doom Builder-esque modelling software... y'know, draw the lines, connect the verts, use the not-Make-Sector tool to fill in faces... oh, well!

      BTW I'm sure if you dedicate a morning to it, you can get the grasp of Blender far quicker than I. It just takes quite a bit of determination, I think <_<

  10. Just playing Plutonia on UV. In Aztec, I got as close as I could up to the first Arch Vile (the one in the magma room that raises out of the ground) before shooting it with the SSG. Before I could kill it though, it performed its flame attack, with me still right in its face, and it killed itself.

     

    Well, that made me stop.

    oH geez I'm getting a nostalgia-esque feeling of having opened up DB2 for the first time

    OH GEEz I'm now working on a level that ignores all the "do's-and-don'ts" of mapping I've picked up

      I just tried it! It's so weird, I've grown so used to looking at circles. Are they just more visually pleasing to me? I can see the usefulness in using squares but, ehh.

      Displaying non-square things is just bad practice, especially when designing nonorthogonal spaces.

      @Xyzzy01 When a map editor uses a grid based reference for building, square things just seem to make more sense. Round objects give you a better feeling of monster size, but thats not really that important when squares do the same thing.
