there is a chance that the reject map for map20 is bad. (???) I'm not currently at home, so I can't test it. You could record a prboom demo and that should work. (as Donce indicated) good luck

What's the most expensive thing you've bought on Ebay / Amazon?

heh. Now I see why you need one. (j/k!) a worthy puchase. I wish you luck procuring the funds. -

BEEENNNNDDDEERRRRRRRRR! -
unless you are buying something specific (or you are a collector) then I'd advise passing on these and use ftp://3darchives.in-span.net/pub/ instead. I guarantee there are at least 10 authors who frequent these boards who have several maps that are much better than ANY of the maps in those collections... and their maps are free.

Paypal is just wrong; I could never trust that. You give them ALL you info... it is as if it is their account, but your money. My first experience was similar to yours... about 3 years ago, I bid on a couple things and lost... then lost interest in it. I don't understand why people outside of the US would rather receive cash(US currency) than an international draft. -
Descent2 > Descent3 > Freespace I've heard good things about both the Star Trek and Star Wars space games, but haven't seen them myself.

I wasn't able to modify the frames/second capture at a reasonable rate with pjbmp2avi... also, it was captured at a rate different than real time, so the sound desynced very quickly in demos even as short as 5 seconds. this forced me to use fraps instead. perhaps entryway's port dumps frames more consistently...

well said. win98's greatest power, and in turn its greatest weakness(instability), is its 16-bit and 32-bit kernel.
-
people will always have their opinions and personal-use issues with every OS. WindowsXP is undebatably(is that a word?) the best windows OS. However, 16-bit driver support is not something that hardware manufacturers (like sound card developers) care about. The most important thing I do on my computer is DOOM. Most hardware designed for winXP doesn't support DOOM. It's as simple as that.

Best doom wad from before doom's source was released?

farthest I got with Hr-max was dying on 16/31 a few times. I've forgotten maps like 14 and 15 since and would have to re-learn. :( one of these was just over 4 hrs, which is longer than the longest released Doom demo. I think I budgeted reaching hr21 at the 5hr mark and then the long maps start. :D got to get Radek or Machata interested in episode2... then a movie. :) -
You can still buy a computer that can run Win98se/Doom/Doom3. just steer clear of certain technology: bootable raids, certain sound cards, etc... ati/nvidia/intel still offer chipsets and drivers that are win98se compatible. but your question is already answered: PrBoom/Eternity.

oh yes!

personally, I'd say that all the opengl ports look like ass. Jdoom is the prettiest; zdoom looks damn nice though(esp with all the advanced features that it supports).

I wasn't being very serious. I note the need for savegames, especially with wads like AV. I suspect that many of the pre-source pwads also broke savegame support too; that's all. :) -

Who needs to record savegames? :P -

'prior to source released' is different than 'requires a source port' if you are looking for doom(2).exe compatible wads, there are quite a few beautiful (and playable) wads released. Mordeth, Alien Vendetta, Requiem, Dystopia, Class_ep, Nullspace, etc... -
baldy, your new avatar is cool. :) hmm... Hell Revealed AlienVendetta Scythe Dmonfear TVR! Relive the nightmare Darkening2 Plutonia2 ...probably others, but those are definitely up at the top for me.

Vince, I didn't know when I ran it that when only 20 monsters are alive, Maurice does his one-minute killall thing. That would shorten a run a bit, with that knowledge.

and the awesomeness continues...

hmmm... interesting. masaya@keyakiclub.net http://www.geocities.jp/aonobb/index.html some more documentation would be nice... but I'll give them a viewing. :)

there is a bug that exists when you use a resolution that it doesn't like. I think Grazza was the one who discovered this. try loading prboom with -width and height parameters like 800x600 or something.

hurry up and reply, I'm losing my hard on.

Last I saw, there is a FREEWARE version of Divx. You don't have to get the enhanced version which has the spyware in it. Why don't they make spyware illegal? Isn't part of the law present to protect the innocent and uninformed?
-
You probably are just typing one or the other incorrectly. try renaming the 'pl30xxxx.lmp' file to just 'a.lmp' then load the game with 'prboom -iwad plutonia -playdemo a' the W_getnumforname error is only when it can't see or read a file. I suppose it COULD be if prboom didn't have permissions to read the lmp file.... good luck.

I've prayed for Doom3 to be released... and a larger personality.
