if u dont got it, get it!!

Really? I thought it was the other way - shoulder buttons, analogue sticks, childish colours for joypad buttons... Tell me you're kidding me. Really, did you ever check out any of the backlit handhelds? Backlighting produces more fucking blur than a myopic alcoholic will see in a lifetime. Don't go there. The only things that could improve the GBA screen are better brightness and lower contrast. And it would still be a poor screen.

A little help, please, good folks

    Thanks Zaldron - it worked.
  3. Now, my computer just went out of the stone age into the bronze age. Whee. See, I just got a Voodoo2 for my P200 (Whoo!). Now, the help I need. I cannot get Legacy working correctly in Glide mode. I get a bunch of flat, textureless surfaces and invisible sprites. It's atrocious. Can anyone shed any light on the situation? Oh, and FYI, neither OpenGL or MiniGL modes are any good unless I want to play in less than 1 FPS. And, no, I don't really need to get a better computer than the one I have. It plays Doom, Duke, Diablo II and Quake II - I'm happy. I'll only upgrade if Doom3's any good. But anyway, my problem is really strange - can anybody help...?
  4. I'm talking mainly about the Rocket Launcher. I can understand why anything with a spray (Shotguns, BFG) would damage more when closer, but not the RL. Maybe it's just a coincidence -and is actually the randomisation, but it seemed really consistent.
  5. Hey, on a related note, does anybody else find that on the PSX version, damage seems to be increased when running forward? Or is this just me?
  6. I'm not 100%, without looking at the source, but I'm pretty damn sure that Wolfie did have it. My favourite trick of running up to a soldier and knifing them in the back (Ammo saving and fun, kiddies!) didn't always kill them in one.

    Is it just me, or....

Oh here we go, the old music debate. A debate that will last until the collapse of time, and one that I am totally sick of. As far as it goes, about 99.999999% of all assholes that are intelligent enough to use a CD player insist on using their own opinions as a triedandtested GOSPEL TRUTH method to determine a song's quality. Fucking great. So many truths there, and not one I can believe. Well, there's a way of seperating truth from opinion. Yes there is. Let me reel of a few of my favourite bands of late: Linkin Park Disturbed Slipknot Spineshank Nine Inch Nails Black Sabbath Kittie System of a Down Devin Townsend Rob Zombie And of those, you know, the only ones I'd say were good are Black Sabbath and Devin Townsend. That's speaking about the music. Rob Zombie, SOAD and Nine Inch Nails are bordering, although both of them have glaring flaws, musically. However, I like ALL of those. I'm not an ignorant motherfucker that won't let people have an opinion, but that's exactly the point: Stop calling your opinion a fact by branding your favourite bands as the 'best'. "I went out on a date, with a girl, a bit late, she had so many friends...."

recommend doom wad for me plz

Well, since I did the bloody thing, I'd recommend to you Murderous Intent at http://www.geocities.com/jayextee/download.htm - they're rather extreme in difficulty, and I'm doing a sequel levelset, if you wanted to give feedback ;) Also on my page are some other Doom and Doom2 wads of varying quality -- even my first efforts are there. That was spam. Thank you for reading ;)

    par time

The par time is a strange beast. I tried to beat them on Ultimate Doom with not much success at all. Then I try beating the game on nightmare -- beating 3/4 of the pars while I do it. Now I can beat around 90% of them. It's a target worth aiming for -- it's fun.

    Christianity

Recommended literature, the Bible. Really, as a collection of Jewish, Hebrew, Israeli and whatever else folklore, it's entertaining. It's got sex, death, betrayal, and more plots twists than your average story. Which is all it is. It is NOT, nor do I think it was ever intended to be, a user manual for life. In this regard, it serves the same purpose as Aesop's Fables -- you can take some lessons from what is in there, but there's not an awful lot of 100% truth in there. As for God. I'll believe it when it is proven. Until then, I won't disbelieve, I just won't play the sheep and follow what is written as if I don't have a brain. Which is what annoys me most about religion in it's entirely - "The lord is my shepherd", etc. To claim a force so powerful that only an absolute faith in it will save you - the very idea is preposterous. If there were a God, and he were the allround good guy that he's made out to be, surely he would not demand this kind of sycophancy for admittance into the 'good boys club' that is monickered heaven? No. He wouldn't. It would be a better idea to live life being a GENUINELY GOOD PERSON, instead of narrowmindedly preaching unto the infidels and nonbelievers something that you yourself can't even verify. Zaldron's post was not the worst. It's the best one here.

    Please... help me out.

I'm getting busy with my Doom editing stuffage... TOO busy. Well, everything's mounting up, so I wondered about dropping a project. But I don't know which one. So, I'd like your to cast your votes on WHICH PROJECT YOU ARE MOST HYPED UP ABOUT. I drop the loser - I really need to, to free time to make the others better. So which do you most want to see?

    Doom Master Levels

You know, if anybody is interested I have a spare Master Levels disc lying around. E-mail me if you want it (Adress is <---- there somewhere). First come first served, you know.
  13. As for more EDGE wads, sure. I'm making a TC for edge whether it dies or not, unlike someone I know whose project seems to be hanging on the edge (Pun not intended) of death - and won't be released if EDGE dies.

DOOM was meant to be modified

We thought it, you said it. Well done :p No really, I agree, but it seemed like it needn't have been said. On the one hand, I admire mechasm's balls about 'coming out' like this, but in the other hand, he was talking out of his smelly parts. It's like saying that you're not SUPPOSED to create custom characters on RPGs, and you're not SUPPOSED to play games differently to the way everyone has been doing for years.
  15. Of course the important thing is.... will there be more EDGE in the future or not so?

    an interesting thing...

No, that's the PC version of Exhumed/Powerslave

    XWE Queries

Hi there, Csabo. Or Rex, I don't know. Hopefully one of you can answer my queries about XWE, which I love, by the way. So; 1) Why does it keep rotating by 90 degrees any image I load up that's 64x64? I don't mind this happening with FLATS but with patches, it's a pain in the gut. Any way to stop this...? 2) Related to images, whenever I load up a 24 bit bitmap, XWE converts it nicely to Doom's palette (Good job there), but it seems that the format isn't correct. What AM I doing wrong? Doom displays a black screen instead of my titlepic, and boots me out to dos with flats and patches. Well, anyway - I love the program. Honestly. Only problem I have is when editing lumps with the text editor, my usual method of copy-pasting (CTRL-C etc.) copies the entry. Can't you make some way of shifting the 'focus' of the program from the entries window to the text window, and vice versa? It's no real problem, but I hate having to paste things with the RMB menu - it's just barbaric! :D Anyway, thanks in advance :)

    *cough* WadEd *cough*...

... or not, as the case may be. Well, I have my first mockup of how I want my editor to be, plus some details... Check it, and let me know what you think , in this forum rather than e-mail -- I'd rather this be an open discussion, and I'd like you to hurl questions at me about it. Also, I have a few new ideas for neat features for this editor, and I'd be willing to tell them here, if you want to hear - I'd like to know if only I think they're good ideas... and, yes, Jack - you may get some more inspiration from these. I'd tell them here, but I don't want to type so much if nobody's interested ;) Anyway, let me know... k?

    *cough* WadEd *cough*...

Ssshhhhh! I'm trying to get everybody addicted. I don't play it anyhow. I prefer to play Tetris Attack on the SNES. It's the same game, just with a multiplayer option.

    *cough* WadEd *cough*...

Well, the cat is out the bag, and enjoying the fresh air now. Nice. ARE YOU CALLING ME PRETENTIOUS? I KILL YOU!!!!!!1111 :D Yeah, it seems that a lot of people here take themselves too seriously.... That method of scrolling is far worse than being tedious - it can be VERY counterproductive. Example: Drag a selection box around a screenfull of stuff. Chances are, you are going to have to scroll back to it again to see what you are doing. However, it would make sense to me to have this as AN OPTION, so I will include it. Yeah, but it will probably allow me to release a quick fix, without the limits, because I already know some basic. And WadEd without the limits is basically the MAIN thing that WadEd users want right now. Or I could just scrap the C learnage and port it to VB... which I won't do anyhow, because there are more advantages to using C, as you probably know. But, it could serve as a 'quick fix' so WadEd users aren't stuck copy-pasting in other editors forever ;) Then I make an option to have them on screen, or just have them present anyway. Yes it is. It's gotta be up there on the 'Things I hate about WadAuthor' list. Which is quite large, BTW :D http://drop.lithium.com <--- No, he most definitely isn't. His latest work must have delayed Lüt's Millenium project for... HOW LONG NOW? ;)
  21. Jayextee

    *cough* WadEd *cough*...

Oh right, yeah. I had never seen that, or thought of it. It's on the 'to do list' - with viewing things as sprites (Which BTW will have them standing in a grey circle, so you can see their sizes. Optional, of course.). Personally, I'd like to see the view-as-sprites mode have the enemies and such actually facing different directions, instead of all screenward. Good idea? Bad idea? Let me know.

    *cough* WadEd *cough*...

Heh, nice rescue there, Lüt and Jack. Damn thread turned superlame... Anyway; Hmmm... that a dig at the fact that I misunderstood your intentions regarding the last WadEd mockup? Well, that won't happen this time. I'm older, smarter, and actually have some respect for you this time, Jack! j/k Fire away, don't mind me - I'm after criticism here, not sycophantic praise. Well, not this time, anyway ;) Although, I'd prefer it to be constructive, you understand ;) I'm fully aware of this, and I'm working on it. I'm trying to keep a familiar (To WadEd users, at least) interface that still has all the things there. Might be hard. Actually, this works out less tedious than scrollbars - I remember such a function being used on the DRAW program on the Acorn Archimedes - although it was RMB in the scroll bar, instead. Still, I'd rather scroll this way than seperate scrollbars, OR the existing WadEd arrows. Pluse, my preffered way of scrolling in WadEd - the arrow keys themselves - will remain functional. Heh, ATM nothing will resize at all. I'm wrestling around with C++ Builder - actually contemplating moving to Visual C++ instead, which might be a much better choice actually. Of course, a resizable grid will be an option. View things as crosshairs? I have no idea what you mean, please elaborate. Anyway, I have some neat features planned, which will most likely be very easy to implement. And now for some good(ish) news -- Matt Ayres actually <b>replied</b> (Shock, horror) to an e-mail of mine, and he's releasing the WadEd source... which was done in QBasic (Ack), if anybody were to pick up the pieces and stick them in VB or something... I'll keep you posted...

    !!! SUPER WADED 1.967 !!!

Hmmm... this is just a curiosity... there is virtually nothing that you can do... why Matt Ayres even let this version see outside of his HD was beyond me. Is this just my problem, or do you keep getting the 'bars' of graphic noise across the screen? Whatever, I don't plan on extended use of this.

    Fredrik Wants World Domination

Dude, you're scaring me. 'Tis true, however. Except the twins bit... Although I have this love of Vrack that I can't explain... ;)

    *cough* WadEd *cough*...

Oh, and a point I maybe forgot to mention: THIS EDITOR IS NOWHERE NEAR COMPLETE. I'm getting feedback about this mocked up interface pic, and when I've come to a happy medium that appeases to most/all of the WadEd users (The target audience), then I'll work on learning C.... from where I am, right down on the ground, so to speak. You've got a wait, yet, but your patience will be rewarded... trust me on this... >:)
