    Fredrik Wants World Domination

This is funny... Fredrik and myself were discussing this problem (F_Sky floor and ceilings causing HOM) in opn #Doom and were trying to figure a way around it. And we had a revelation - both at the same time, same idea. But to be fair, he managed to post his typage, like, 0.5 secs before me. And I think we were BOTH kicking ourselves for not finding it... BTW, Make the central area's floor in E3M8 F_SKY1 and tell me Boom or Doom don't give you HOM... that's the problem. Now try and fix it... ;)
  2. Coloured Lighting in legacy can be done with Boom colormaps -- unlike Boom, legacy displays them even when you're not standing in that area. I meant to use that for a level, but never did. I don't know if newer version have some other way, though. But the colormap way is easy enough.
  3. I don't exactly know how, I can only do this with WA at the moment (.wcf file, not .cfg - I merely mean a config file of sorts). Ask around, somebody may have one, or Jack may be able to create one. Just be polite when you ask ;)

    WANT A CUSTOM TITLE?

Wow, so I made a typo. Fuck you, bitch - it just shows that I'm at least remotely human.
  5. AFAIK they all do. Really, even WadEd which doesn't seem to support anything at all. As long as there is a way to use custom linedef linetypes, IE the numbers, you can do it. Even better if you can set it in a .cfg file, like in WadAuthor or DeePSea

    WANT A CUSTOM TITLE?

Most likely to be afraid of cApital D's. [edit]Fool, bbg[/edit]

    top ten bands

Nothing unusual there. Black Sabbath are probably the best band EVER. And that's more a measure of the quality I've heard over the years than my actual tastes, as I'm more into Industrial metal more than anything. So, NiN woul be my fave, but, like, Black Sabbath are musically one of the best, if not THE best.

    Getting to E3M9

Hellbent: Back then I didn't know how I did it, but I ran and strafed, because it's at an angle from the ledge. Now I know of straferunning, it's the way I get to that secret. Today is the first I've actually heard about using the RL, actually.

    Getting to E3M9

Uhm... run...? That's what I did to get there, which was by accident the first ever time I played E3.

    e-ziest level editor, I think

Damn - I get the fun first, THEN the work... I usually prefer it the other way around.... But hell, I guess the struggle will be worth it, and I may actually go with the WinDEU source - both programs/compilers I use are Borland anyway, and I'm trying to stick with them ATM - they came on cover CDs, and with my limited budget, it's all I can get for now. I'll get a mockup done, then link to it here for some feedback if people are interested, then.

    taunting us all

Cereal owns, and don't you forget it. It's like biscuits in moo juice.
  12. I don't know whether you recall my Murderous Intent WAD, but I'm working on a sequel, and wondered something about the difficulty... Intent is hard... but I find it rather easy... even on UV. This is justifiable because I made the levels, damnit, but what do you think about the difficulty - should it be made easier, or harder? I'd just like some feedback, which would be good - the more I get, the more Intent 2 will probably appeal to you. Just let me know.

    help me out here....

A lattice structure surrounding the entire moon would kinda hold itself up. It's very improbable, but if I wanted reaslism in my games I'd play Monopoly all day. Fuck, I need creative escapism, not limits enforced by the quest for realism in games.

My god, what a cool Doom3 level you could base THAT on!

Multiple Music File Support in XWE?

I'd like that option.... probably because I like the Descent soundtrack a little much, heh.... BTW Csabo, just tried XWE recently.... congrats on it - it's rendered WinTex redundant on my machine -- I love it.

    !!! SUPER WADED 1.967 !!!

Thanks for that... although it doesn't seem like it has muach functionality, judging by the .txt - it'll probably be placed with all the other curiosities on my HD, like the versions of WadEd I have that don't seem to work... 0.99, 1.10 and 1.17 Although, they got this neat (But buggy) SMART DRAW button that instantly makes sectors... you know, like DeePSea does. But still, I can't get any texture or flat names in either of those... And, if anybody else is curious about versions of WadEd, I got versions 1.71 and 1.81 too... Give me a mail, and I'll send them.

    if don't already have'em......look here!

I don't have Vavoom or JDoom. And you know - I don't really want them anyway. Now go away.

    FreeDOOM

I'd go for a system where you can change another person's title, but NOT your own, which would rule, if it weren't for the worry of people creating a second self just to change their own titles... Imagine the fun you could have with that... heh Give Lüt some sweet revenge... uh, did I type that out loud? Oops... >:)

    e-ziest level editor, I think

As ever, Jack, thanks for pointers and that - it's welcome. Even though I thought you'd see this post and give me a condescending lecture on "Why would you want a new WadEd? DeePSea is PERFECTTTTTT!!!!!!111"... heh j/k But anyway... I wouldn't have figured it would. Basically I'd see ANYTHING similar as being helpful, so I can see different ways of doing things... I know that the screen drawing and layout stuff would be irrelevant, but it's better to seek more help than need, than not enough, I figured. I'll grab the source for the editors that have it available, anyhow. Make sense? I'll be waiting for that day ;) Seriously, I swear it's the hardest thing in the world to convert from knowing BASIC on one format to learning C on another... the book I'm going through ("Taking lessons from") has some great exercises that I look at and think 'I know how to do that!' - but I don't. I do in BASIC which is not really too good, but it's like relearning everything again. At least I have a start with coding though - a lot of the basics still seem to work. I'm working on something in this regard - this editor WILL support Hexen, hopefully. Like in Borland C++ Builder? I'm having a stab at that... actually I half made a window with all the buttons and everything, but thought I ought to at least get a working WAD reader/viewer working first before that... maybe I'm wrong there - but not understanding this lot is posing problems for me at this early stage, and yet I remain enthusiastic about the project. :)) But anyway, I have a few neat ideas for this editor, like a new name, some ideas for different features, and some stuff that'll make it quite unique as an editor... mostly fun stuff that can wait for now, of course. I'll keep you posted, when I actually get anywhere, heh.

    e-ziest level editor, I think

Do you know something? The state of WadEd and the lack of really similar editors (DeePSea or DCK are your best bet, but still not similar enough - they're both great, but I don't really work too well with either) has made me take up C++ coding so that I can actually make a new editor. One quite like WadEd. However, I know so little of C++ it's not even funny. ATM I can add two numbers and print the result. Wow, I'm good :p However, give me a year, and I might have a functional WAD viewer of sorts. Then whatever features I can implement will be added. In short, there WILL be a new WadEd (Although it won't have the same name) if you don't mind waiting for it. Realistically, three years minimum, but anyway. I'm going to do it, dammit. I just wish Matt Ayres was around at least SOMEWHERE so I could get the original WadEd code as a reference., if he still has it, which I doubt. But anyway, wish me luck ;) FOOTNOTE: Jack, if you're reading this, I hope you won't mind a few e-mails from me in the future for a little advice - I'd rather get it from someone who knows what they're doing. ;) [Edit] If anybody's interested, I'm mocking up (Again ;) a screen of what I want this editor to turn out like, but this time the mockup has some relevance, as it will most probably be what the interface will end up as.
  21. I'd chain him to the fence round back and thwack him with my ZX Spectrum until he tells me the reason he keeps sending me those freaky IMs. Which are really freaking me out. It's like Lüt thinks I'm his cat toy or something... ;)

    Old Computer Games!

I loved that game. Probably one of the hardest I've completed, which, BTW I don't think can be done without the gold armour. As for 486 games, I think it's just worth checking out, see what you can get hold of, because everybody's opinions differ. Myself, I'd rate: C&C - Of course. Warcraft II - One of my ALL TIME faves. Gods - VERY hard, and good. Doom engine games, of course. Eye of the Beholder 1 and 2. I dunno if 3 will work. Risky Woods - quite good for a Ghouls n Ghosts ripoff ;) And, I don't know, but with a helluva lot of messing around, Diablo (1) *might* work. Which is cool.

    POTD

WadEd 1.42? Jeez, I thought I was using an old, archaic version with 1.71! Heh. And, if you're not really looking, and glimpse at this POTD, that logo at the top looks, at a glance, like it says 'Satan'. OH GNO! THAT EVEIL DOOM GAME IS WARPPING MY MINDDD!!!!!111

    Visplane Error

Yes, I have found that BSP is only *sometimes* useful at reducing the chances of VPO. But, it worked for my E1 contest map.
