    Raise Donut tag?

    Can someone explain to me better how this Raise Donut tag works and what purpose it achieves... any examples would be greatly appreciated too. I've tried to use it a few times and it has resulted in strange results each time but I would like to learn how to use it effectively.

    "raise stairs" tag

    Greetings. I have been trying to more effectively use the "raise stairs" line def tag (between 8 and 16) and have had some difficulty in setting the target for the raising area... It seems that when i set the targets the sector that contains the stairs gets raised as well, resulting in a bunch of height/texture offset issues. I just want to be able to narrow down the target to say, a set of 8 steps within a sector. How can I achieve this the best way? Thank you all in advance.

    SuperWAD 05 BETA (WIP) completed.

    Hey man, First and foremost, thank you again for playing these levels for me. I lost my regular play tester so it's hard to tel as OP sometimes if the levels are passable or what nuances can be corrected, modified or whatever. So yeah, on this last level I kinda dropped enough rockets, health and energy cells to get through the level and figured to modify the monster encounters first as theres a lot of open room for trickery still. I noticed the same problem with being able to back up and spam BFG/Rockets but there are certain sections where I'd like that to be maintained. Since I hit this level I am going to take a bit of time to go back to my first few levels and touch them up a bit as when I first started on them I was using DeePSEA and a lot of the linedef/texture mapping wasnt done correctly and is much easier to fix (now that I know wtf the problems are) so a lot of those previous issues, especially level 2 will be modified to make them less monotonous. Since I acquired Doombuilder 2.0 there has been a stark improvement on the quality of the maps I am able to craft and I see a lot of previous errors for aesthetics and gameplay that id like to fix... Also, to answer your question; yes. I am going to be continuing on to create my own MegaWAD. It's been a pipe dream of mine since being a young lad to entirely replace all of the 32 maps in Doom 2 with my own custom set. The idea I always had was sort of a frontal assault on the gates of hell and these first five levels (and continuing) will be reflecting certain aspects of mythology and history. Ideally I'll write out a story as I finish, maybe add some storylining crap to the game but I really want to leave it pretty vanilla Doom 2 as it is pretty much my ideal version. Now time to drink heavily and map.

    How do you use armor/health bonuses?

    yeah i like to stack them 5, 10, even 50 deep depending on how big the bonus i want to be, i think they can be used pretty effectively as literally a health/armour bonus

    Superwad LVL 3 needs testing!

    Hello again everyone. Finally finished the third level (I suppose this could be considered its beta form but it is complete and beatable). I switched from DeePSEA to Doom Builder 2.0 on this map to see what the core differences were and I found that Doom Builder is a lot more forgiving with it Line Draw mode and as well, the 3D editor is fantastic for texture editing. Those of you who had been trying my maps out should notice a stark improvement. Feels a lot more like a pro map. Even managed to change the music up for this one. Enjoy.     New Map needs testing.

    Thank you very much for the review. I have found these quite helpful thusfar and it's giving me great insight as to where I could improve my work. I still feel as though parts are very amateurish but I feel every level I successfully complete gets closer to being a more solid, well packed level. I'd like to experiment as well with adding new music/textures and whatnot but I have never quite figured out how to add midi's or texture maps effectively. As in, I figure out how to add the PWAD to the WAD but not how to actually change the music or implement a texture. I use the last release (full version) of DEEPSEA. Any other tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

    New Map needs testing.

    So I posted the first two levels of my Mega Wad in progress and I was asked to keep posting levels as they were completed. I've been touching up the first two levels I posted before and have, as well, been working on levels 3 and 4 respectively. I am pretty sure I have level 4 pretty squarely nailed down as far as game play, ammo and game mechanics... Some minor texture offsets need to be fixed but I really wanted to drop this demo so I can see what you folks think. I made it a lot shorter, less repetitive and I play tested it for UV/N and there is no doubt enough ammo and health to get through. I think with a little polishing off this wad will make a nice, new addition. Hope to hear what you guys think and as usual any comments or criticisms are welcome.     Need help play testing.

    First and foremost, thank you guys very much for trying it out and giving me this feedback. These two were my first real attempts at larger, more complicated levels and I get stuck a lot of figuring out new ways to lay out the level. I've been downloading a lot of the maps from some of you here and have been blown away by some of the levels and detail some of you put into this. I've been using this program I bought a long time ago called DeePSea and it is a pretty good program but I still have some parts I don't quite get all the way. The offsets are just laziness and I haven't refined the levels much. I was aiming for the levels to be more maze like, so I know I went overboard with the tunnel mazes and not enough radiation suits on the second level, i might just rework how some of that space is used to make it less repetitive. I really appreciate the feedback, it gives me a good lot to think about. P.S. Barons and Hell Knights are the shit.
