    [Release] Lost Civilization 2 part 1, the introduction!

    I'm finally playing this. For now it surprised me because well, it's the opposite of Los Civilization 1! That megawad levels were mostly open and nonlinear solid Doom, with a well adjusted difficulty that never went to high, while this is super linear, tight and scripted, more reminiscent of Half Life 1, including small puzzles, with some enemies encounters designed as set pieces too, and the difficulty is a bit too high in the intro, where you have barely ammo, health or armor. edit: hell, the style of weapons also reminded me of more 'realistic' FPS, with things like the sniper bolt rifle. It's almost bizarre the weapon don't need to reload, as the entire wad feels like that type of game.
  6. I finished the level. Ok, I 'finished' the level, because once I reached the final boss, and saw what I was supposed to do, and the time needed to even lower its hp a 15% with god mode on, I said, fuck this! Very good level otherwise. A bit too ambitious, it would have been better if split in say, three levels. And some parts totally dip into slaughterfest style, I'm sorry to say :) In HMP, it could have 1/3 of the health/armor found in the 'open world' area removed and put half of the removed items inside the hard closed arenas, and it would have made a better paced game (ie one where I don't have to retry a fight 20 times).
  7. This is not to say there is too few armor/health packs, I have plenty on the 'open world' area, is that these arenas limit access to them they don't really count :P. The zone with the Archviles that can be killed with the 'piston' was cool and very original, but please make it shorter by having 20% less Archviles, it got old before the fight ended.

My impressions so far are good , but the difficulty has some harsh spikes (playing on HMP), in the constrained arenas that you use sometimes, like this one: Between the Mancobus, skellies, the columns, the mines of the Diabolist, the CD firing rockets...very little space to move. Other fights felt purely RNG-depedent, like one in a even smaller area where you have a group of skellies in front of you, and a group of knights and a CD in a column behind, as while you fire at one side the other may hit you from behind. I think Remnant had a better adjusted difficulty. The flow is ok-ish, in one place that I had to activate four switches to activate a teleporter I got stuck with one of them but after 3 minutes of wandering around I found it. I'm again stuck, this time in the big door that needs the yellow skull, I'm not sure where it is.edit : oh look, I found a door that I could open with the blue skull! I guess I have to go through this area...
  9. So around 50 fps? I'm around 50 fps but it falls to 33 fps sometimes. Which I consider pretty bad. I'm accustomed to play at 90fps in other wads... What's your cpu? It seems more important in GZDoom than the GPU, which usually is almost idle running the game.
  10. Can you clarify what's your framerate and your pc specs? I always have the impression different people have different standards.

    First bug: the camera moves as if I was seasick. It happens even before clicking on New Game. I turned off all my mods and it still happens. I'm using the latest stable GZDoom version.

    Cool, Lost Civilization I was great. A question. Part 1 means... how many parts do you plan to have? Will they come fairly soon as they are in progress already or are you waiting to have feedback of Part 1 to start the next ones, to know what you should do? How many levels does Part 1 have?

    IMO, HMP should be 20% easier than UV, and another 20% on top of that for the second difficulty.
