I wanna do something like this next year for NaNoWADMo. I'm gonna give it a play. -
What are your preferred source ports for both Doom and non-Doom games?
NecrumWarrior replied to Individualised's topic in Everything Else
PrBoom+ is my one true love. But I do rather like Crispy Doom for Vanilla compatible and limit removing wads. -

I'm afraid I have not been able to come up with any ideas for this project. I have quite a bit else on my plate so I'm going to back out. I wish you the best of luck! I would like to see this project succeed. Excelsior! -

Comments: E3M8 is Dis, so why not make a Chilling Winds inspired map? Download: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/stupo2lbjdlyawxns0phd/CHILLWINDS.wad?rlkey=ruicqgfujfzj5eg93rrrhwk0e&dl=0 Screenshots: -

PUSS XXXI: TRICKING & TEARING @ WARPSPEED [BETA V2.2]
NecrumWarrior replied to BluePineapple72's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Don't mind me, nothing to see here! Map Name: Attack of the Giant Heads Author: NecrumWarrior Music: Dread Factory by MFG38 Sky: Included eclipse texture by Muumi, with sky transfer Difficulty Settings: Partially implemented Build Time: 4 hours Comments: Aliens don't always come from space. Under the shade of the eclipse, a small town is assaulted by giant heads from another dimension! Download: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/zgywg0fhi3xzss9bfufa8/BIGHEAD.wad?rlkey=btqegi83u2ra8qvwcsyoe47nd&dl=0 Screenshots: Much detail work to be done on this one. But I got the layout all finished and functional. -

I finally wrapped up work on this map. This month was pretty busy for me so I expect this may be the only map I submit. A real shame because this texture pack is fun. Map Name: Home Invaders Author: NecrumWarrior Music: Lost in Place by Lippeth Sky: SKYAA_03 Difficulty Settings: Partially implemented Build Time: 5 hours 45 minutes Comments: This map leans heavily into using Boom's silent teleport to simulate floor-over-floor, but I also made the transition very obvious as a way to play up the B-movie aspect. I am pretty happy with it, but it needs some detail work. Download: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/3rc5pl77zrpd2zh8vojz5/INVADERS.wad?rlkey=uiwmu51y9pyzd4cd5rb2m3vgh&dl=0 Screenshots: I do have another idea though, if I can find the time. -
Oh shit, I want one of those!

[MBF21 Single Map] Postmodern Vile Placement

I'm digging the abstract designs in the screenshots. I will have to give this one a try when I get back home. -
I can't wait to see what you guys do

My favorite is Ancient Aliens. I love the aesthetics, the music, the challenge. It taught me a lot about playing Doom and does a good job of making its difficulty feel possible. Sort of like how Dark Souls grinds you into the dirt over and over until you get the skill to progress. I am of course also a big fan of Plutonia with its heavy emphasis on tricking and surprising the player. It is very much like playing troll levels in Mario Maker. In Plutonia's case I would say I definitely am more a fan of its brown and green aesthetics than the gameplay. But it does make me chuckle when I get blasted by surprise chaingunners. Always gotta be on guard.

The DWmegawad Club plays: Sign of Torment
NecrumWarrior replied to dobu gabu maru's topic in WAD Discussion
As much as I really dig this, I have too much going on this month to keep up. I certainly will want to come back to this one some time, but for now this is me dropping out. -
I plan on having my map end with the time machine stabilizing on a view of the start of the next level so I don't think we need to have anything represented on the other side. The time portal should be closing after travel anyway.

Needs more Revenants. (But seriously I think it's looking good so far)

NaNoWADMo 2023 - The month-long mapping challenge!
NecrumWarrior replied to scwiba's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Some improvements on the boss room: And moving on from the boss room to expand: This is where the real mapping begins I also did some tinkering with the palette for better yellows. And I made the Archvile yellow, and he is now The Yellow Bastard. -
I'll have to try this again now that it's on idgames. I didnt get past the first level when I tried rc1.

The DWmegawad Club plays: Sign of Torment
NecrumWarrior replied to dobu gabu maru's topic in WAD Discussion
MAP02: THE LOUDEST SILENCE So it turns out Sign of Torment is a better survival horror experience than Doom 3. I found myself really using my shells carefully and taking the pistol seriously as a weapon for much of the map. When I tried to play this morning before work I simply could not find the white door. I felt pretty dumb finding it immediately just now. I died many times because resources are pretty scarce. I thought to myself, "a chaingun would make a lot of this easy." When I got near the end of the level and hadn't found the black key I checked this thread. Lo and behold, a chaingun in the secret area. fml.
