I'm married, and I've never lived on my own, so these numbers might be off a bit. But it might help ya out.

Here in Colorado, the one bedroom we have is $910/month and we pay around $30 for electricity. We don't pay for heating, water, or garbage, but not all places offer those benefits. We also don't pay for parking.

Food depends on where you shop, what you buy, and how much you eat. Technically you could get by with around $5 per day per person (which is what it actually works out to for people on food stamps), but it's tough. It costs us about $200-$250, depending on what we're needing. But for one person, that might be closer to $150 or less. Again, it just depends.

Cleaning supplies and toiletries usually don't cost too much. Maybe $50 if you're running low on everything.

From there you have to factor in your car (gas, insurance, parking if you need to pay for it, cleaning it), phone, laundry, renter's insurance (it's probably cheap), pet needs, medications if you have any, and the series of tubes we like to call the Internet. Also TV if you're into that.

So maybe about $1500 per month?

Keep in mind, the first month or two is sometimes more expensive, because you have to buy more things at once. For example, usually you can buy a huge case of toilet paper, but that's something you don't buy every month.
