      "No Doom player in the world enjoys walking into a room with 50 monsters in it"

      What really annoys me is walking into a room with 1 or 2 monsters in it.

      If only he knew what maniacs would rule the Doom mapping world in 22 years...

       

      I am personally annoyed with > 10 monsters.

      A world where computers were significantly slower, for one thing; hilarious-in-hindsight wording and "nobody can like what I don't like" attitudes aside, the paragraph in question does try to make a somewhat valid point about not bogging down slower systems to an unplayable state.  That segment could be updated and summarized in a nutshell as "don't make NUTS.WAD", more or less.

       

      Editor specifics aside, some of what the book covers on WAD-making has some relevance even today, but it's got a fair share of things like this that make it an interesting time capsule into the old days of Dooming, too.
