  1. Thanks for the feedback. Guess we'll wait and see what happens. I could make some small adjustments if needed but I don't plan to make any big changes to the map. I thought the key/elevator thing might be something different but looks more like a miss to most folks here that tested it out. Oh well, live and learn. :) If Ribbiks does want to keep Payload on the roster, I could go back and tone down the difficulty (looking back it does get absurdly hard at times) and a few parts here and there. Not sure about revamping the whole map since it'd be really tricky up to this point though.
  2. Good to see this thread is back up again. If the rest of you guys are cool with it (assuming there will be another beta), you can replace Payload with Iron Fortress instead. It's a larger but somewhat linear map but definitely nowhere near as bland as Payload was. Let me know what you think.
  3. Thanks for the feedback and bringing up the sectors and what not. Meh, I guess some of the areas were a bit too big than they should've been and maybe having monsters in some weird, hard-to-shoot areas does get a bit annoying after awhile. I did intend to make a modified version of the Spirit World map anyway so that's why I stuck to the Doom2 texts instead of using custom ones. But again, I'm just starting out and I'll be making more (and better) maps in time. Thanks again! Unfortunately, I don't know how to play a demo and don't know what a "FDA" is. Sorry if I sound like a noob. :/
  4. The map is Boom compatible as well with ZDoom and GZDoom. I don't know about Vanilla Doom though since I never use it. I'm more of a ZDoom person anyway. @Scifista42: I looked over those lumps you pointed out and I'm not sure how those got in there. I was going to use an allBlack text but wasn't sure how to integrate it into the wad without giving me that weird tile text instead. I removed the redundant lumps/allblack text and seemed to work fine. Maybe I saved them all when didn't mean to. Thank you for pointing that out!

  6. Okay, here's an updated version of the Iron Fortress map. I've included more monsters and ammo/powerups in some areas.   7. Hi Darkdave, I tried out your map and honestly I thought the first room was a bit too hard. I'm really don't know how you're supposed to get past all those arch-viles. Another thing I noticed was the last room with the exit. If you jump into that pit where the exit platform is, you won't be able to come out of it, assuming you haven't hit the switches to lower it. I know that you'll be stuck there in Boom since you can't jump so you'll have to no-clip your way out. Other than those two things, not a bad level. Hope that helps!

  10. After playing through Iron Fortress, I did see a few problems that I want to fix. I'll post the updated version later on.
  11. Phml, thanks for the feedback and I'll take those points into consideration for future maps. Although, I'm not sure what you mean by FDA and the "battle of a million doors." I may go back and do some minor editing later on, maybe.

    SLADE3 freezes randomly in Windows 7

    I'm having a similar problem too with Slade on the audio system. If I play a music track it will eventually crash and close up about a minute later. Not sure why this is happening. I'm using the Chorium soundfont for this but it started crashing about a week ago for me. I re-installed Slade a couple of times now. Anyone know why this might be happening? I'm looking all over the place for a solution.
  14. Cool to see this thread is still alive. I'm not sure how much time until the final version gets released but I might try to get my Iron Fortress map in hopefully soon. A Boom-compatible version one, this time.

    custom texture shows up in Doom builder 2 but not in-game

    Hello, I'm having a similar problem as well! If I load a PWAD into a level that I made none of the textures show up if I load my map on my source port. I use Slade to try to fix that and a wall texture will display but a floor texture will not. I started getting into Doom Builder several months ago and I didn't have this problem then. I've been doing some research, wiki lookups, videos and so on but no dice. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

  17. Just figured out that if you include the cc4-text and GOTHICTX with the Payload wad the texts should come up. I'm still trying to import a midi for now though.
  18. Alright, I think I'm just gonna scrap my "Iron Fortress" map for now just to get it to work on Boom. Although I did come up with another map named "Payload". If anyone knows how to go about the texture problem, any help is much appreciated.

  20. Hey Ribbiks, thanks for considering my map. Although I'm not real fond of Prboom so I'll have to get familiar with that. But the map should have difficulty settings already set and should be able to pass it without jumping/crawling.
