  1. I feel like giving up on mapping for good. I just can't get any creativity or motivation for going for myself when it comes to level design.

      If your maps don't look like Anaculothon or JOW megawad,you're good. Stare at the screen and look for ideas is mapping process too.

      I think I'm with Decay here. At some point I guess you'll have the urge to create something new once more, so don't worry. It'll be fine. Just don't force yourself to do things. Maybe, when there's another "50 shades of graytall" or so, you'll get right back at it.

      The method I'm using now is listening to a midi and building the map I think it sounds like. I have a big advantage from having a memory of over 25 years of gaming, there's a lot of architectural knowledge in there. Looking at some real photos through google search can bring some great stuff, like this:
