    Can the Gameplay Work?

Remember that Doom was originally intended to make the player press the button for sprint, just like modern shooters. Without sprint Doomguy is not so fast. The problem is that the game offers the option of always sprinting. Maybe this Doom, at least for consoles, won't offer such option, making the player hold the sprint button.

I don't consider a revenant a magic monster at all. For me it is just a dead marine corpse revived and mantained through its mechanics parts like frankenstein. And for it human physics should work. So, some exoskeleton should be put to reinforce its legs, but there are only few wires there.

Not to mention the 3D graphics make the player feels that physics doesn't work there: the thin legs of that revenant would never be able to sustain the weight of his ubber body + that heavy armor.

My biggest fear is to see that Spider Mastermind is just a regurgitated version of the Classic Doom one. It would be just laughable, mainly because SM and Arachnotron are a spitting image of each other, just in different sizes. I would love to see the a similar approach of the dude that made those artworks of arachnotron and mastermind. Each one now stands out by itself, wihout being a spitting image of the other: He took as inspiration D3 Varagy as well as Alien for his Spider Mastermind: His arachnotron resembles the classic but with a much better visual, emphasizing the integration between flesh and metal:

I hope to see a gory lost soul, a skull which combines flames, some flesh and blood trickling from its eyes.

    Can the Gameplay Work?

Not only the series, but the entire id software is done. Only Actvision with CoD and Bungie shooters, 343 Industries with Halo and EA with Battlefield will dictate the future of the FPS genre.

SS3 is an example of what would be a modern Doom set on earth. The simple level design is due to the fact that it's not easy to make a cool level design if you deal with real, non-abstract scenarios. Real scnarios are made in order to be easy for people to go through, not to get lost. Doom 2 was set on earth but it doesn't look anything even close to earth locations. Just look at the video of the old-abandoned version of Doom 4 that would be set on earth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdjjeJk28HM
  8. Doom has been in development hell for almost decade. Most of this time was spent trying to figure out how to portray it in the current AAA gaming environment, after several failed projects they seem to be confident that this version has the right flavor. But don't deceive yourself, Doom still is in devlopment hell and won't come out until at least late 2016(if a miracle happens, it can come out earlier). But don't be sad, Doom is not the only game in this situation. The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV(aka FF XIII Versus) are also in development hell for a long time.
  9. There is no shooter that can sell more than CoD. Destiny was a huge success(this is basically what Rage should have been in order to be successful - a multiplayer RPG-FPS) and even if Bungie released Destiny for PC, it wouldn't get CoD level sales. Don't forget that more Halo 5 will be shown at this E3, so Doom must prepare itself in order to stand out againt H5.
  10. Doom needs to prove itself in 2015 era and Fallout doesn't that's why all the mystery around Doom.

    The Doom4Guy Personality

Wolfenstein worked with a talking protagonist, therefore it may encourage id to make a talking doomguy.

    The Doom4Guy Personality

I bet my 2 balls he will talk, but you will be able to play while some talk happens, I also predict some cutscenes.

    The Doom4Guy Personality

D4Guy will be a black gay guy that goes to the rescue of the marine he loves, something similar to the original Dead Space plot which Isaac goes to save his wife but now adapted to please the minotiries. The final scene will be similar to DS: he discovers his loved marine is already dead, so he takes off his helmet and it will shock the player for being a black guy the same way Samus shocked the player after taking off the helmet and the player discovers he is she in the ending of Metroid.

They atempted to deliver a terrifying "peeled" head for this Revenant but compare it to those poor guys that had the skin of their faces peeled by a mexican drug cartel alive, you know that this revenant still is far away to look terrifying as I said, due to hardware limitations: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a49_1387237657 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=fe1_1426628839

The cacodemon is another thing that really needs a good reimagination in order to look scary-menacing for 2015 standards. I don't like D3 cacodemon either.

The official version of revenant looks cute compared to this ugly baby. Game devs still fail to render proper-convincing rotten-rooting meat. This official revenant would be cool if it had proper decaying lacerated meat attatched to its bones, but it doesn't have it. Maybe due to limitations imposed by consoles or even curent pc hardware can't do it yet. But I'm also prepared to be disappointed with other monsters design in this game compared to top notch fan artworks.

Finally, but the I still find the old, very old fan made reimagination of the revenant better than this one in the teaser:

    Doom [4] reveal first impressions

I hope I good dark feel comined with good action, I want to feel unconfortable and nervous while fighting the monsters, that's why they need not only to be scary but also have a good AI. A good AI is more important for me than a big number of dumb monsters filling up the screen just to be wiped with a few shots of BFG as I see in some WADs of Doom like Holy Hell or Nochance, sheer numbers don't impress me.
  19. They seem having coming from Silent Hill rather than Doom. I hope to see a big mass station with a good level of openess, a semi-sandbox envvironment.

What the hell do we do between now and QuakeCon 2015?

Almost all stealth games have blind guards, Metal Gear is my favorite game franchise of all times, with one of the best story and charismatic characters among all games, and yet, based on MGS5 gameplays, we still have the semi blind-deaf guards that maybe won't get fixed(maybe on the hardest difficult they'll improve it).

What the hell do we do between now and QuakeCon 2015?

TNO was the only Wolfen I finished and yet replayed. I couldn't stand the older Wolfen games. The replay factor comes to the freedom player has to be either more stealthy and silent or go to Rambo route.

What the hell do we do between now and QuakeCon 2015?

There is a low expectation for id games since Rage failure, I've seem posts in other forums about giving Doom to Machinegames because they have created a good comtemporany Wolfenstein reboot.

How do you think Doom 4's music should be like?

It was already stated there was no metal on the demo, only ambience - some orchestrated music. They want to put the Doom 3 dark feel but with more open and busy scenarios for more intense fights. D3 can't be overlooked because it was the best seller in the entire series. The only problems of D3 was the weak AI which was criticized, almost the same AI as the old Dooms(at least D3 gave you some tension, you were forced to fight because you were not super faster than the monsters leaving them behind like a roadrunner to finish the level in 30 seconds), while games like Halo brought one the best AI for a FPS in the beginning of 2000s which helped it to become the holy graal of the FPS genre. And also D3 had mostly small scenarios and lack of more intense fights and repetitive monster apparition for jumpscares + repetitive closets opening with monsters inside.

Should rocket jumping be in Doom 4?

It is a cheesy feature, considering modern futuristic FPS bring super suits capable of increasing user's strenght alowing player to jump very high, dash with a temporary incease of speed, kick a heavy vehicle as it were a ball and fly through jet packs, temporary invisibility, temporary bullet immunity and so forth. Crysis, Halo and now CoD Advanced Warfare exoskeletons are examples. Even Halo 5, during the multiplayer beta, has copied the dash ability of CoD AW exoskeletons.
