Does anyone care about midi music included in maps?

I care extremely, so much so that I always have three different external midi players ready to go, one for every occasion. My favorite and the one I use the most often is the Roland SC-8820. It's my pride and joy. It's extremely close to what Bobby Prince originally composed the soundtrack on, which is a slightly older model of the same thing, the Roland SC-88.

    Favorite avant-garde doom wad?

That would've been a better word, yes, but I still love all the answers I've gotten so far!

    Favorite avant-garde doom wad?

For me, one of them would have to be Going Down by Cyriak. I love how it subverts common design tropes with its crazy levels. The best way I can describe it is like playing one of those 1024 wad projects, but without any constraints. The soundtrack in particular is outstanding, even if it's just MIDI renditions of pre-existing songs he made for his Youtube channel. What is your favorite of the more weird wads?
  5. The first time I played Doom was probably when I was around 12 years old, so around 11 years ago. I was modding my Wii at the time and I had downloaded a big homebrew pack. One of the many games included was the shareware version of Doom. Imagine trying playing Doom with the Wii remote, and keep in mind that it didn't have motion control support or anything you might expect. Needless to say, I had no idea what I was doing and definitely didn't enjoy myself much. It really wouldn't be until 2014 that I truly got into Doom with Brutal Doom. These days, I basically never touch the brutal genre of mods, as I've grown bored of them. I now mostly play Doom RPG Rebalanced and various other gameplay mods such as Guncaster, Hideous Destructor(probably my favorite at the moment), and whatever the latest stuff is posted on the ZDoom forums.

@SavageCorona, That would take a fairly long amount of time. Scifista42's idea would be very helpful. @hardcore_gamer, Here, http://www.filedropper.com/shovelwaregalore

You gotta remember though, back then, especially D!ZONE, didn't care about crediting the author. If my memory serves me correctly, some CDs just contained direct rips from the archive itself.
  9. To be fair to Dropbox, it doesn't require you, it just REALLY begs you to.

@buttspit, Off the top of my head, I know I got a bunch from the D!ZONE CDs and Doom Heaven 2. Oh, and I distinctly remember "Maximum Death for Doom 2" as well. There were probably around 20-30 CDs that I collected. I wish I still had them all, but last year there was a flood in the basement and many of the ruined boxes were thrown out. Unfortunately, that mistakenly included every last one of the CDs as well. I'm glad I back them all up when I did. @scifista42, I've played a few hundred of them at this point, only a handful of them stood out. I actually remember playing one or two that I swear were already on the archive! @Angry Saint, It'll probably take multiple people to figure that out in any reasonable amount of time!
  11. Over the past few years, I've found various old CDs containing hundreds of doom wads all basically from 1994 to 1996. After sifting through them and deleting the many MANY duplicates, I've ended up with exactly 4,438 unique wads. It's possible that you, the reader, may have even made one or two of them! Without further ado, here they are. http://www.mediafire.com/download/wiv432ik1a0t8ft/shovelware_galore.zip

That's perfect, I've got nothing going on at that time. I'll PM you my Skype information.

Well, in general I'm hoping to learn how to make enjoyable and balanced maps. More specifically, I want to learn exactly what I can do with at least GZ/Doombuilder and Slade and become proficient in their usage. I also would like to learn how to script in ACS and other languages, though the map building skills obviously come first. As for my times that are available, I graduated from high school TODAY, so I'm extremely free for the next few months. I'm typically awake by 9:30 AM EST and usually go to sleep around 11 pm or midnight.

I've actually watched them all to completion. The issue is with the way my brain learns. I learn best through interaction. I can watch his videos all day, but the information doesn't stay the same way it would through talking to an actual person giving me lessons. I hope that doesn't sound too stupid.
