    Disappointing purchase stories, anyone?

I could imagine quite a few young Guitar Hero players doing the same thing, only to find that playing an actual guitar takes quite a bit of effort to learn, and there's no fake crowd to cheer you on. The only thing I've ever bought while drunk is more booze.

    Favorite wall texture

I always liked SKSPINE2 as a decoration in hell maps. It's quite pretty in it's own way.

So I've been watching a lie all these years? Oh. That video won't play for me. I'm probably in the wrong country or something.

^Well you have to start somewhere, and it does have a Doom 1 feel.

What non-FPS games were also 2.5D?

Space Harrier. From Wikipedia: Running on the Sega Space Harrier arcade system board previously used by Hang-On, the pseudo-3D sprite/tile scaling in the game was handled in a similar manner to textures in later texture-mapped polygonal 3D games of the 1990s.[11] Designed by Sega AM2's Yu Suzuki, he stated that his "designs were always 3D from the beginning. All the calculations in the system were 3D, even from Hang-On. I calculated the position, scale, and zoom rate in 3D and converted it backwards to 2D. So I was always thinking in 3D."

    Ash vs Evil Dead

I actually had no idea about the two endings. The only one I ever saw was the cave ending where he's slept too long. I'll have to buy a copy with both endings. Thanks for the info.

    Disappointing purchase stories, anyone?

Sorry, I completely missed the ill bit. I'm not feeling too well today myself, so put my inability to read a simple sentence down to that. ;)

You should have bought it yourself then, you lazy sod.

What non-FPS games were also 2.5D?

Well just about any racing game released in the eighties, Pole Position being the earliest one I can remember.

Why does mapping for Unreal engine suck so hard?

Of course, SnapMap will change the way we build FPS maps forever.[/sarcasm]

    Reverse detailing

I dunno. Hopefully he'll see this and link us to more tourniquet mapping goodness.

    Reverse detailing

I'd say some of tourniquet's maps would be a worthy reverse detailing challenge.

    Ash vs Evil Dead

Last time I saw Ash he was in a post-apocalyptic England. Continuity was never this series' strong point though.

Tomb Raider 3 for the PS1. I loved the first two, and was really looking forward to this one. Unfortunately, the save game system for the Playstation version completely sucked. It made the game overly difficult and exploring the huge levels just became a chore. I eventually gave up out of frustration. If you plan on playing this game, make sure it's the PC version, which has unlimited saves. On a more positive note, just this past Saturday I went to a car boot sale and picked up an original, unboxed Rubik's Magic from 1986 for £1. Nice.
