so did some kind of shitstorm happen

Basically, it all started as a recurring joke on Forsen's Twitch chat where the chatters would try to get him to click a link with a picture of the guy that was captioned as a "daily quest." This spread to other streamers' chats, until the image of the dude became a meme on its own and people started to track down the source. Turns out the guy's got a website on his ... church? ( I can't remember if it was just the church or his entire denomination over in Africa ) with that picture front in center, along with the "do you know the way" quote. I have no idea how Gregzilla's Knuckles animation got caught up in all of this, honestly. Maybe it's because of the mysticalism with the Master Emerald associated with Knuckles, and the fact that that animation was already a meme.

Which features would you like to see in GZDoom?

This is a pretty false equivalence. The Source engine stems from the GoldSrc engine which itself stems from the Quake engine. You might remember that the whole big deal about the Quake engine is that it was the first PC game that was both fully 3D and didn't run like hot garbage. While it was made by id, they completely redid the level format and renderer and so on from scratch, as that way they could optimize everything they could ( to the point of feature loss, see below ) to make it so that the engine would fundamentally be built for the kind of rendering necessary for these quickly renderered, 3D spaces that would soon become the standard. Doom just doesn't have that - its engine was optimized with a lot of assumptions that don't translate well to the 3D standard, such as using level structures more easily translatable to quads, not tris. Also, something to remember: in Source, most the level geometry just flat-out can't move. You have to convert a brush into a brush entity to allow it to be moved by itself or by other things, and creating a map entirely out of these brush entities causes it to perform far worse. On the flip side, literally every floor and ceiling in a Doom map is capable of moving - and there's no real feasible way to specifically mark a sector as "will move," as while it would be relatively simple to do so via scanning the map's specials while just playing vanilla Doom, that flies right out the window when you have to deal with ACS scripts not only being able to move floors and ceilings based on a variable sector tags, but also being able to manipulate sector tags and line specials. And that's not even getting into the fact that line specials can be called from DECORATE and MAPINFO. You just really can't compare GZDoom to a full 3D engine built as a full 3D engine, because it's not one of those. It's a full 3D engine built from a cobbled-together, limited, and non-standard 3D engine, and that's a huuuuge difference due to just how much baggage that carries.

I mean, the Ugandan Knuckles meme is pretty damn racist and is built from the basis of Twitch chat ( y'know, a pretty big cesspit ) mocking a Ugandan pastor for his appearance, so ...

    Gotcha!

The very first set piece of the map is a gotcha ( ha, let's see you try and fight a cyberdemon and a spider mastermind at the same time! ) followed up by a counter-gotcha from any player that knows about infighting. I'd say it's a pretty appropriate name.

One Minute in and the Map Ends?

Probably caused by the player's heavily reduce height causing some voodoo dolls to go under some barriers they shouldn't, triggering a script end. Also, that's not the latest version of Super Chicken, and Ketchup causes unintended issues with zombies dropping actual weapons instead of fake ones. If you want to use a blood mod with Super Chicken, I'd advise using a lite one that only affects the blood actor - I think Ketchup might have a version for just that purpose, in fact.

Game is a bit too easy ?

why do people insist on outing themselves as absolutely terrible in ways they think are subtle but really aren't
  7. If you just want to keep track of monster kills and you're using GZDoom, FragTrak is exactly that.

Game is a bit too easy ?

Well, there's a pretty big difference between proclaiming that a change was because modern gamers are little baby men that exist only to be mocked and pointing out that people were mocking keyhunts back around the era of Quake 2. Possibly before that, even.
  9. Daikatana has an RPG-esque experience system for both your character and the titular weapon, allowing them to grow in power as you kill more enemies with them. I wouldn't recommend playing Daikatana.

Game is a bit too easy ?

I think it's more just the fact that when you hop out of this little niche of the internet, Doom is more remembered for its ultraviolence and movement-based combat while keyhunts are mocked as a dated and unfun cliche of old FPSes.

Things about Doom you just found out

I honestly find PrBoom+'s menus to being really clunky while finding GZDoom's dense yet manageable. It might be a way-of-thinking thing - I'd imagine GZDoom's menus are hell if you'd also have trouble navigating an multi-tiered file system, no matter how organized it may be. I still have no idea what's with the distinction between "general" and "setup" options in PrBoom+, though.

Things about Doom you just found out

( i'm pretty sure everything but the color in Doom's renderer is 32-bit, and the color itself is 24-bit assigned to an 8-bit palette )

have you considered that perhaps while the the basic facts of what you says aren't necessarily wrong, it's your conclusions and the way you label things that fly all the way to pretentious purist land

Which features would you like to see in GZDoom?

It's not an official GZDoom feature, it's a shader mod that you have to download manually and therefore would have to find the instructions to even get it. This is actually in vanilla Doom - you just need to make the wall a sector, as thin as you'd like, and make it so that its floor height and ceiling height are equal. Now you've got a wall you can apply two different textures to.

Post Your Doom Picture (Part 2)

Thing is, it doesn't really look abstract. It just looks like a mistake. If it was just zany physics, wouldn't the lower ceiling also be ceiling slime, and the slime fall texture applied to all of its side? Then it'd look like the slime started to fall, but then decided to stop doing so.

Post Your Doom Picture (Part 2)

Why does the ceiling slime only fall down the upper part of the walls, then suddenly disappear? Not to mention that it only falls down certain walls, while others it stays perfectly content to be on the ceiling.

Things about Doom you just found out

I await the time when people start yelling at Youtubers for clickbait for using anything that isn't Chocolate Doom and map authors for calling their maps "Doom maps" when they're Boom-compat.

Why does Doom 3 have so little height variation?

Because it wasn't. Doom 1 AI had no pathfinding at all, monsters just tried to run directly at you ( as in, ignoring walls ) and just pinballed around the map if they couldn't manage that. It's sheer luck if a monster manages to chase you down in anything but an open field. It's really that simple - Doom's AI is dumber than bricks, but enough confirmation bias that the monsters are actually chasing you around as opposed to stumbling about like aimless drunks can do wonders for making it look otherwise.
  21. It's the modern version of having a forum. If you recall, a lot of older sites had some pretty arbitrarily tacked-on forums.

    How are other people emotionally?

I would actually try and talk about a therapist about this. Depression isn't just full-on negative emotions at all times, and varies greatly between those with it - emotional numbness is a very common symptom as well, as well a dwindling motivation for a lot of things. You might be right and it could just be something else, but when people neglect to talk about mental health to the extent of modern society, it's incredibly easy to think a mental illness is "just how life goes" even when it's really bad. I know from experience - I've accepted a lot of things as normal mental behavior, and, hell, while my memory's too shitty to know for sure, I'm almost certainly been an ass to people for talking about their own issues by just claiming "they're what everyone goes through."
