    Beta Cats

Most people report improvements with these drivers, some report badness (crashes etc). Personally, I was experiencing crashes every few minutes with older drivers. The latest non-beta driver on ATI's site fixed it. I'm pretty happy with current performance, reckon I'll wait a bit until jumping to spanking new betas. (Radeon 9800Pro 128Mb here)

    doom3 beta info

Yes, because Doom is a wholesome game, not at all like those evil games where you travel to a world of walls covered in Satanic imagery and splattered corpses, in the midst of Hell, and tear monsters to pieces with a chainsaw.

    Duke3D Source Released

Doom used lots of ASM, also. You just need to refactor it out, not a particularly difficult task :P

    "1984"

Is that the bit where in the battle for the farm, the elves arrived to help fight off the enemy? I don't remember that happening in the book.

    Any Metallica fans?

Of course, Metallica sells _less_ albums than they used too. To say they suck these days is fine, but to say the changes are a result of "selling out" is just plain inaccurate. You do "Metallica", it sells fuckloads. You do "Load", it tanks. If money's your motivation, you don't come out with "Reload" ..

    POTD

Your average PocketPC has at least as much horsepower as machines that were running Doom when it first came out. Keep in mind that it's rather low-res...

    Freedoom Update

Most penile extension surgery works by removing a tendon that helps hold the penis up. When men were huntergatherers and ran around naked all day, it flapped all over the place and needed the support - but it doesn't really these days. So, they snip the tendon and *woah*, the cock extends further because it's not being held in as much. But it isn't really held upright when erect like a normal penis, so it can take on a bit of a limp appearance.

    Collector's Doom Revealed

The second that id throw in PRBoom, they'll be fielding support calls from people wondering why GLBoom doesn't work on their voodoo2 (or has this been fixed?). Same for any other port. The second you throw it into something you sell, you have to support it. Even if your "support" consists of telling people "yeah, that doesn't work", it takes time and gets people pissed. Probably not worth it.

    Speedmapping Reminder

Bah. It's at 3am for me... I might jump in if I'm still awake. There's no way in HELL I'm ever going to be awake any later (or if I am, it'll be for a reason other than staying up to speedmap)

    Speedmapping Stuffage

That clock's showing "Greenwich timezone", not "Greenwich Mean Time" (aka UTC) - England (including Greenwich) is actually at GMT+1 (or UTC+1) right now due to daylight savings. So, is the speedmapping starting at 20:00 GMT, or 20:00 GMT+1 (ie 19:00 GMT) like it did last week? (I fucking hate daylight savings)

    the newbie problem

Biggest problems... Their spelling often sucks. Their grammar often sucks. They often distort their spelling and/or their grammar with l33t-isms or dey talk like da esco mon. They raise the same fucking boring questions which are really more like noise pollution than any semblance of a conversation after the 100th time.. WHAT'S THE BEST WAD EVER? BEST TC EVER? I'VE NEVER DONE A TC BEFORE AND I CAN'T USE AN EDITOR AND I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE EDITING FORUMS BUT COME AND JOIN MY PROJECT11111!!!!! WHAT'S THE BEST DOOM PORT!?!$1?!

  22. locust

    hmm

To be fair, you'd probably find my IP different most of the time. Aside from the fact that I'll post from different machines at uni (all on static IPs), work (another uni, so everything's still on static IPs) etc.. I'm on a dialup account, and every time I reconnect (typically once or twice a day, and I'm far luckier than most) I get a different IP.

    Reviews Of The Millennium

At a glance, it looks like a port to DJGPP would be trivial except for the console stuff; you'd either need a termios library that worked under DJGPP, or to adapt another function set (console.cpp has three sets of the same named functions, for the three target platforms - OS/2, Win32 and Linux) for DJGPP. I'd do it right now except I don't have DJGPP anymore and I'm not willing to suck it over my modem link to do a port I'd never use... I might be tempted to do it at work though :)

    My webpage

Why kick *his* ass? He wasn't cheating on you. That's totally fucking unfair. I think you're just looking to take the fact that your gf at the time was a cheating slut, out on somebody else, even though they didn't do anything wrong. Jesus, it's not his fault she ran to someone else when she found out you had a small dick.

    This Is Doom Crisis

I was thinking it would be great to turn this into some kind of online index, for people after a good play. And I saw this when logging into ftp.cdrom.com: 230-************************************************************************* 230-Webmasters and Web Sites may not link to files in this archive 230-(FTP.CDROM.COM) without prior written permission by Digital River, Inc. 230-If you are interested in linking to files in this archive, please send 230-an e-mail to cdrom@digitalriver.com for details. Digital River, Inc. 230-reserves the right to seek compensation for unauthorized use. 230-************************************************************************* I mean I guess we could just link straight to mirror sites, but that's a pain... anyone else have a take on this?
