    Where's the pistol?

Doesn't this statement contradicts itself? With the tone they're aiming at, the pistol just doesn't fit in. Unless it's a flare pistol :).
  2. What games we have to compare this "ugliness" to? Half-life 2 and Far Cry? Doom 3 was the bumpiest game I've seen, plus the 1st one (if I'm not mistaken) with the dynamic shadows. The level design might seem blend, but it doesn't cancel the technicalstandpoint.
  3. Medpacks and ammo on enemies means less troubles for level designer, it's almost as bad as regenerating health. It forces the player to move forward, rather than to explore, but if there's no room for exploring, than it makes sence.

    E3 discussion [outdated]

True story: recently when playing with colors on photo I excluded most everything, besides cyan and orange and thought to myself: «Now my photo looks ultra kewl and prophessional». How wrong I was... :D Thanks for the link, it's quite interesting, though i only glanced over it for now. IMHO, game designers should obviously follow different set of color rules that applies to cinema and photography. I think it'd be a mistake to make game cinematic, of course, it'd look neat in adverteisements and on TV screen, but I doubt it won't harm the gameplay.

    Lets talk about the story

Than he's truly a man to bring the outworld experience to the game.

    Lets talk about the story

Imagine, there would be genetic mutants plot from the movie? Speculating on blue lab tubes and revenants in UMC armor. (And overall mutant look)

    Let's talk about Hell...

I agree with you. The lack of satanic themes in modern games is frustrating, first Diablo III becomes all World-of-PG, then DOOM. Probably, there are more to this list. The hell levels are the ones you wish you could go as soon as possible, IMHO, they need to stimulate player to go on, to be the great pay-off, to be an opportunity for an artist to show off his skills. I want to be blown away by the twisted and surreal, brutal and sinful, I'd want the hell made me feel dirty, just looking at it. So there were no doubt that this place is evil, rotten to its core. The hell presented in demo stayed in my memmory as yellow desert with some ruins, actualy reminded me of Uncharted 3 :D. And as was said before, demons look more like mutants and not like hellish spawns. They don't move me. I see just targets in 'em, they lack personality and charm. They don't look evil, they look like they might be in need of some medical threatment, i pity 'em.
  8. The initial colors of DOOM are red and grey, even Doom 3 was truethful to this palette. So the yellow look of the new one feels off and distant. And color scheme of hell can be as fantastic as sick imagination can give birth. The laws of physics should not apply there, so red sky and grey sand will only enchance the surreal effect that something is off and this place is supernatural.
