  1. i have an original Doom 13 page manual, it's got the red skull back design and appears to be the variant with David Osborn listed alongside Shawn Green instead of American McGee. Does this make it rarer of more common than the original? Does anyone have specific details of this variant? i believe purchased in UK in 93 or 94. it came with the red label disks (long gone, don't ask...) If anyone has insights into the resale value of this piece of history i'd be interested to know, for someone with disks and box it would be an opportunity for complete. i guess the actual question is why were the names different between printings, a mistake or was David Osborn replaced with McGee, making this version the original? or vice verca?

    PrBoom-Plus, ver. 2.5.1.4

I saved a game and changed settings, .cfg didn't write on exit to game folder. however the saved game and settings changes are stored when reloaded.... not sure where? I also tried loading without wad params from within the launcher package, results in: PrBoom-Plus v2.6um (https://github.com/coelckers/prboom-plus) 2021-03-31 11:25:13.226 PrBoom-Plus[1996:64755] *** Illegal NSComboBox data source (<NSObject: 0x7fc3b2e24c80>). Must implement numberOfItemsInComboBox: and comboBox:objectValueForItemAtIndex: IdentifyVersion: IWAD not found so i imagine there is a line somewhere i need to change, but not sure which file.

    PrBoom-Plus, ver. 2.5.1.4

thanks, running from terminal works. however the.cfg still wasn't created (after changing some settings, perhaps another command needed?) i'd prefer to use the utility of the launcher in the long run.

    PrBoom-Plus, ver. 2.5.1.4

Total noob helpline request here. Installed PrBoom-Plus 2.6um on Big Sur. All the prereqs and build have gone seemingly fine. Launcher opens and locates the IWads (located in correct library folder and selectable in launcher) When i click launch i get the attached message. As far as i can tell the .cfg file hasn't been created yet.... I feel it's something really straightforward like the locations etc. Any guidance would be really appreciated. Ta.
  6. really enjoyed Sigil. some genuine lols and pant dirtying demonics. i'm quite interested in, and if it's even possible, a megawad that allows you to play through the entire (now) 5 original doom episodes (with e1m4b and e1m8b) in one run. allowing you to carry over the arsenal you've acquired by the end of each episode. does this exist? and if not can it?

    Going Down

yeah, Going Down is truly a stunning piece of Doom auteurism. The music alone needs its own mention. I'm kind of happy to hear nothing else has come close, the continued WTF moments as you progress were exhilarating and an inspirational benchmark for anyone thinking about creating their own megawads. maps like Insanity had me cackling/hysterically crying like a lunatic. mind-blowing. cheers @Big Ol Billy, next stop The Eye.

    Going Down

for the first time ever I played and (just) completed Going Down on Brutal Doom v21. THAT WAS INTENSE. Wonderful wad! Amazing balance of fun, fury, puzzling and comic brutality. i know i'm late to the party but thanks @mouldy. You've made my doom downtime over the last month an absolute joy, maybe i just got lucky to not hear of going down until i had brutal doomv21. my next question is what's next? can anyone recommend a similar mega wad, bearing in mind i've played the usual suspects, maps of chaos was nice.

Bob Evans and the Odessa series

Hi, i've registered here today and this is my first ever post and it's for a very specific reason. As a young teenager i was lucky enough to be part of the first wave of Doom hype and member of the CompuServe Action Games Forum, username: Japoon. i uploaded a few naive pwads that didn't have enough dm start points and loads of other nooby issues that i didn't consider at the time. Regardless, it would be a great trip down memory lane to see them again after 20 years (!!!) , if only to read the crap i put in the text file. Think i added a few cringe worthy sfx as well... I've recently got back into Doom via the awesome Brutal Doom mod. And here i am, another lone marine, advocating, screaming and hoping for this mythical upload. Regards, Waftlord
