  1. For example, I think the Wolverine from X-Men would pretty make a pretty good Doomguy. He's got the attitude, the endurance, the skills, the guts to rip and tear his enemies apart. What other characters from other franchises can you think of, that remind you of Doomguy?

Tunes like map02 probably don't fit in either, since it's salsa music apparently.

    The Doom Comic...

We already have a sequel: Brutal Doom.
  4. eeny-meeny-miny-moe-which-route-should-I-choose-to-go? *pumps a new shell into shotgun* lets go. The human consciousness basically creates a model that simulates the future by running through various feedback loops and from past experiences, to make a decision. In my case, I know that it's just a game, so I don't give it much thought. If I find myself taking the bad ending route, it just means I'm on my way to the Dark Side and death. No biggy.

    Cheats for Insanity's Brutality.

Personally, I'd open up the mod and look through the DECORATE/ZScript code. It's just easier that way if you ask me.

Damned typos ruining everything I write. I see what you did there.

    8-16 bit Music Replacements

The PC speaker sounds are TXT files IIRC. At least that's what I can tell by looking at Freedoom's sounds directory. Deutex can create these PC speaker lumps from WAVs within a WAD, but not the other way around. They're not even audio files.

I always loved muting a few instruments here and there in a MIDI and listening to the result, for shits and giggles. For example, Freedoom's map15 MIDI without the distortion guitar, makes all the other instruments much more distinguishable. In fact, almost all of Blueworrior's MIDIs (map15's MIDI is composed by him. You can find all off his tracks on idgames' music section and in Freedoom too) have 1 or more distortion guitars that basically hides the instruments.

    25th anniversary project proposal

You did release your first map :/ which was one hell of a E1M1 remake IIRC. I know there're sector trains at the exit. ==== IDK how some of you thought he was actually talking about making actual Doom 64 maps via Doom 64 EX, Doom 3 maps (Doom 3 Phobos still hasn't been released. Just imagine the work it takes to make a Doom 3 mod/map), or Doom 2016 SnapMaps. All I saw was Doom-esque maps in ZDoom-based ports We already have Doom1/2 textures, so that's settled. We have a Doom 64 texture pack thanks to Nevander (looking forwards to the next version of Doom 64 Retribution :DDD) We have a mostly-finished Doom 3 texture pack, so Doom 3-esque maps are possible, along with Doom 2016-esque maps. Let's face it, both games have similar techy textures. If this project wants to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Doom (gosh I'm not even 20) then it has to be spectacular, but there's only 2 months left till the anniversary. I'd like to see something a bit more different rather a mapset. Like some minor gameplay modifications along with maps. That's just me.

DOOM source port on iOS when?

No one said AppStore is the only the option here. Nor did anyone say we have follow Apple's policies. I already mentioned earlier that you can install apps from other sources without jailbreak. I want to see GZDoom appear on iOS, since the iDevice doesn't slow down at all, unlike Android devices.

Even the MUS2MID program has problems when converting a MUS file to MID. The notes tend to be a mess, the instruments just don't sound the same as the original MIDI (if you ask me). Sometimes the instruments are mistaken too. This is Freedoom's map24's MIDI converted from MUS. and this is Freedoom's map24's original MIDI file. Compare the notes in a program that can display MIDI files, like FL Studio, Anvil Studio, or something. You'll see one has notes clearly visible and properly laid out and the other is a hot mess. Plus, Doom supports the MID and MUS formats, so I'm not sure why they bothered converting (surely, saving disk space wasn't the only reason). I feel sorry for the people in the Doom95 era though.

I'm more interested in how is that possible. What limitations were present in the code that the MIDI broke them? At least I'm assuming that's the case.

Map08? I love how those distortion guitars work together to create this echoey effect! I like the funky beat too.

Interesting. A lot of Freedoom's music was replaced post-v0.10 because they would stop playing notes at some point for some weird reason, in Chocolate Doom. Would like to see the "boring" version of Human BBQ's track. Anybody something like a Youtube video? Or if you can tell me exactly which instruments don't play, then I can just listen to the MIDI without said instruments.
  21. Oh damn, not that guy I again. I try to forget all those he spammed us with cuckoo blessings and religious spam along with the gore (which I didn't see for some time until I turned on image loading on my browser). Although I'd gladly love to see some multi-core Doom development.

Oddly, I never seem to get tired of Running from Evil, and I think most of the hatred towards it is because they always hear this upon loading up Doom 2. I mean, it does have a nice and catchy tune. Andrew Hulshult's Running from Evil remake from the IDKFA soundtrack probably made me like Running from Evil even more. All the other remakes floating around Youtube and other form of video and audio (eg MIDIs) just don't capture me as they seem too typical, unsurprising, etc. I like the track on Human BBQ. It's neat and interesting if you ask me. Same goes for Doom 2's map02 music.

TBQH, I've grown tired of Into the Belly of the Beast, and instead favour the tracks like map04 and map05 now.
