  1. Title. Not aiming for one that can play modern games.
Nothing too old, nothing new. Preferably second-hand, cause I'm a cheap bastard :P

    To be more precise:
    -must run:

    • Chocolate Doom
    • GZDoom
    • PrBoom-Plus
    • CodeBlocks (or any other source code editor/compiler)
    • Doom Builder 2/GZDoom Builder
    • Slade 3
    • Dosbox
    • Github Desktop
    • etc.
    -at least 2 GB RAM
-at least 1.5 GHz or above (just good speed is all I need)
    -wifi support
    -enough HDD

Maybe a Linux laptop would be better. It would be useful for me as I'm trying to learn a programming language, compiling Freedoom would be easier, the rich commands available in Linux. But then i have to learn how to use Linux, which I think is worth it.

I have a 9 year old laptop (not my primary one anymore, though) and it matches like 75% of the things you said. Even its 75 GB HDD was more than enough for me.
You probably won't run into much trouble with finding the necessary specs, focus on other, less visible things that you wouldn't usually think of. It matters.

I doubt I will run into trouble. I'm just thinking whether I should get one or not.

Found this Toshina C850 notebook. 4 gb ram (believe it or not, i always had a computer that had 2 gb or less, heh. Hey, it can be upgraded to 16 gb too.), multi core processor (i suppose it'll be bit more faster, but meh, not so sure.), 500 gb hard disk (well, minus 30 gb or so for the OS, still enough for me), and whatever else I forgot. Overall, it seems like a good buy for casual and Doom stuff, without being too limited. Might go for this.

My computer standards are so low, while everyone else just beefs em up.
