    Whats your Favorite Doom Monster?

Yes, I think Doomers everywhere thank the SS Nazi for its plentiful frames.

    id logos

I like the Doom version and the one in the beginning of the N64 Hexen.

    Beastiary sprites

I'd like to check that out, BlueSonnet.
  4. Anyone know where I can pick up some good WADS that take place entirely or largely outdoors? (And don't say SKYEWOOD, I've already played it.)

    Outdoorsy WADs

Dammit, you read my mind! But no, seriously, I agree. You definately have to use custom stuff. It'll also get boring if the gameplay let's the player kinda just roam. The key is to . . . uh . . . "nudge" the player along, heh. I think I could still put a good level together under the original exe, but slopes and swimmable water definately help.
  6. It's still rediculous to care about things like that when the people who wouldn't play yer level simply wouldn't play it 'cause they don't feel like downloading something! As I said before, screw them! EDGE is obviously a dead port, but that doesn't mean it's crap. I haven't heard of it being particularly buggy, and there's still enough people on the EDGE (heh) to get feedback. EDGE has two very important new features, unlimited EXE and 3D floors. The only important new feature it's lacking is scripting. And if scripting's your beef, why not Legacy? Legacy has scripting and 3D floors, and enough people still use it. And unless ToxicFluff has been bullshitting us, you can do some pretty damn cool stuff with fraggglescript, too. So, moo.

    Whats your Favorite Doom Monster?

Yeah . . . I don't know if you know this, but there was a bald zombie soldier in Doom, also.
  8. If you want to view custom textures (or flats) in DETH, merge yer graphics PWAD with the IWAD. Good way to back up your shtuff, too.

    Whats your Favorite Doom Monster?

The arachnatron with a chaingun, which can be found on the back of the Doom II box.

    First PWAD ever?

Well, DEU 5.21 was my first editor, and one I used for a long time. I got it offa CD with the shareware version of Doom. Heh, it took me a long time to finally figure out how to get DEU to work. Anyway, I still have my old computer with DEU on it, and I remembered a file with the DEU history. I couldn't find it, so I dug up the CD, popped it into my new comp, looked through and found that file. The rest was a simple manner of thumbing through a text file. :)

    Need a certain pistol...

What, the ones I said? They're all in the archives. Search it up.
  12. Uh, why should that matter? Maybe if you were trying make money it would matter, but last time I checked, I made Doom levels mainly for myself, and so it wouldn't really matter whether or not less people played. Releasing 'em to the public allows other people to share in the joy (heh), but if they decide for whatever reason not to download EDGE so they can play it, then screw them.
  13. I think pretty much everyone uses that little by-line, but the question is, who started it? I think it'd be very cool to find the first person ever to use that line. I'd e-mail him/her and congratualte them. On a side note, does anyone NOT use that line? And sorry if this thread is found pointless, but I thought it pretty interesting.

    First PWAD ever?

DEU 5.0 was released on March 30, 1994. So, it is false!

    Masters of Doom

You're a bad man. :P I'll buy it when it goes down in price. What's it goin' for right now?
  16. Grimm

strange things you've noticed in the game?

What Easter Egg? The fact that the Icon of Sin is actually Romero's impaled head?

    Need a certain pistol...

Hey, dude, where'd you get that from? :) It certainly ain't at your site . . . I think. Anyway, it's a good thing I'm here, cuz I have a veritable shitload of guns. First there's p-38.zip. It says it's a Walther P-38 but it looks like a Luger to me. Moving along we have Zombdpst.zip, which has the double pistols from the Zombie Doom Beta. Finally, there's the double pistols TiC made, TICDPIST.zip, which is pretty neat. Hope that helped you out.
  18. Are you guys nuts???!!!! EDGE is EXACTLY what this guy's looking for! How could you even THINK to suggest anything else?! Damn! Ahem. Yeh, EDGE very editable. Uh, why does this matter? But like he said, try 'em all out. It's not like they cost you anything. :|
  19. Grimm

    First PWAD ever?

Well, you know, I mean a typical 1994 PWAD with not just 3 sectors sectors in it.
  20. Grimm

OK, now I REALLY need help

No problem. Just one thing: Make it a bit clear what you're supposed to do. I'll PM you with examples. Man, the number one rule of Doom editing is that weird stuff will happen for no reason whatsoever! Especially if you had a really cool idea!
  21. Things like that are why I tend not to like mods.

    Fallen sprite

Trust me, you won't be wasting anyone's space. Haven't you ever played 1337.wad? (Heh.)
  23. He has a SIG-COW dammit!
  24. Grimm

    Fallen sprite

Damn. Goood stuff. Why don't you just upload 'em to /newstuff?

Question HOW Monsters Leave Things Behind

Heh, your trick works with Doom II projectiles in The Ultimate Doom, Cyb, which kicks ass! Also, if you don't mind possiblly fudging up Pain Elementals (or if you're using The Ultimate Doom), I found another way to make monsters leave stuff behind. Change the Lost Soul to whatever you want to spawn. (Make sure it has an attack sound.) Give whatever enemy code pointer 711 (spawn 1 Lost Soul) or maybe even 718 (spawn 3 or 4 Lost Souls) in their death frame, and voila! You can even paste the Lost Soul into some pointless thing type (such as Guts and Bones 2) so you won't lose it!
