We'd already be colonizing and exploring the stars if it weren't for the entire leftist mindset and absurd tolerance of luddites and their religions. Innovators today are shunned at an early age, brains pre-packaged and boxed to fit a certain social-mould. The potential in humans is diluted from existing in a world of total cultural dissolution. As T. Kaczynski said in 'Industrial Society and it's Future': Imagine a world where humans are subjected to the most insufferable conditions of the spirit and mind imaginable; yet daily are fed drugs to dull the symptoms... alcohol, reality TV, youtube, video games, cosmetics, porn on demand, boundless amounts of useless information... which of course, we're all shamelessly proponents of. Had Romantic-era, or even Renaissance Europe (Germany in particular) been allowed to flower and survive I guarantee you Man would be far, far more ahead than we are today. They were technological masters, and their designs were built for the test of time. Literature, philosophy, the arts and technology all of it beyond it's time. All we have now are remnants, what a waste.... Technology of convenience in the age of self-identification... it's what we're left with folks.

My drummer has a side project for those interested in demented, ultra-moody, filthy, second-wave black metal... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SpOfjcTYkM I listen to a huge variety of music... Classical, neo-folk/militant, ambient, Townes Van Zandt etc; but in terms of metal I first heard when my father put on Sepultura - Morbid Visions record in his living room, followed by Black Sabbath. Found Sacramentary Abolishment who turned into Axis of Advance, Conqueror, Order From Chaos, Angelcorpse... only black metal band I listened to (apart from Burzum) was Hate Forest and Bathory. Beherit I found boring. There are little-to-no truly ferocious bands around today, everything's become a derivative version of something else. There are exceptions... no point in mentioning them though after reading the above posts, they're better left hidden.

Did you try the second Amnesia, A Machine for Pigs? definitely has a Clive Barker darkness about it, and much less like the first installment. Far better background/story too.

This gave me nightmares as a kid. It was literally a hostile take over of my entire imagination and sub-conscious mind. I'd dream about trying to escape a pixelated Shambler chasing me down rusted, bloody corridors... didn't help that I had just discovered the short story 'DAGON' by H.P Lovecraft.

Penumbra Penumbra II... Psychotic atmosphere, constant stress, dark as hell... Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs... LOVED the story, has an old English Victorian horror vibe, reminded me of Jack the Ripper or Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Intelligent, obsessive, the morbid mystery pervades. When I was a kid RE II scared the fuck out of me, was the first horror I'd played. Shadowman on PSX also hit me big time. I heard Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata played backwards when you enter the cathedral of pain, and visit the Ripper's room. In fact the music all throughout the game was fucked up, look up 'Playrooms' on youtube. You listen to babies screaming and being chopped up by bonesaw's while traversing a blood flecked dungeon in the underworld. Call of Chtulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth... being a huge fan of Lovecraft and cosmic horror, this definitely fucked with my head. It does the lore justice, and the in-game Innsmouth is pure chaos. SOMA had it's moments, but wasn't as deep as Amnesia. It had too much pseudo-intellectual nonsense, and I don't give a fuck about existentialism. Outlast was also good, in the sense that it buries details in darkness as any good horror should.

There are a million youtube tutorials, check out Chubz for basic mapping idea's, read the wiki's and see Lings WAD editing for noobs... I spent about two days reading that golden material. Okie doke... an update. This one is taking awhile, but she'll be epic. Story... Years have passed since Doomguy destroyed the Icon of Sin, he sits down to play Doom 2016. He vomits so hard after laughing at the Cyberdemon World of Warcraft skin, and spilling his beer all over his pants, it teleports him into the nightmare of DOOM once more. After fighting his way out, knee deep in slain demons, he crosses a massive chasm and descends into a fiery abyss. Lava pours from everywhere, demons lurk around every corner; his fight takes him to an underground stronghold...

Perhaps you're right, though I only bought this new about 5 months ago.

Agree 100%. New ode to cosmic horror... I'm skeptical they'd be able to come anywhere near to the nightmarish atmosphere Quake did. For it to be done right, it'd be like the first True Detective season, appealing to a minority.

Yup. I bought the game last night, played for an hour and requested a refund. No matter what I do I'm getting between 25-35 FPS. I have a beast of a laptop, GTX 960M 4gb GPU, 16gb RAM, 2.9ghz i7 chip, all drivers up-to-date, running on Windows 10... yet it runs like a dog. Kinda glad I did anyway, watched a fight of the Cyberdemon on youtube and it was pathetic. Thing has a health bar and looks like a WoW character, not a murderous super-intimidating deathmachine. In the time I played it, felt like a mix of Diablo and Quake III. Which isn't a bad thing... but, meh. Back to Doom II for me.
