  1. Love it, absolutely love it. Deep, invigorating storylines, superb animation (for an anime), all the high tech stuff you expect from an anime done in a very realistic fashion, and I think the soundtrack kicks ass. Sadly, I've missed a lot of episodes from both seasons 1 and 2, and I fear Adult Swim will yank it off the air once 2nd Gig ends. I'm also looking foreward to the domestic release of the movie (GITS: SAC: Solid State Society). I went out and purchased the first GITS movie, loved it, although it wasn't quite what I expected, although it does remind me of how La Femme Nikita was a great show, and the movie wasn't the same, although I loved the movie.

Anway, I love the show. The blog is for discussion on it. Do you love it, like it, hate it, loathe it?

Also, a question: would anyone know where to find MIDI for the SAC soundtrack? I think some of the songs would be great for a Doom PWad. Also, since the MP3s are usually over 7 meg for some reason or another, and /Newstuff has a policy on that, I figure a MIDI is my best option.

I didn't really like the series or the movie. I thought the movie was way too fast paced. They didn't focus on any one point long enough for me to understand what was going on and it didn't really make a lot of sense to me. It seemed more about flashy animation than having a coherent plot. I understand the plot point with the AI trying to break free, but I don't understand how any of the scenes in the movie relate to it.

Ironically, I feel the opposite way about the series. It's far too slow, with too many mechanical explanations of every detail and little action. It's hard to jump into the show late in a season as you'll miss a great deal of the story arc. It doesn't help that I'm not much interested in the series nuances, politics, and cornucopia of terms and technology. Normally I eat that stuff up, heh.

I thought the movie and OVA of Armitage III was a better cyperpunk/Bladerunner-esque anime. The movie sequal, Dual Matrix, was crap though. :/

Sadly that was the huge problem with the movie. You pretty much had to have read all the comics to fully understand the world and the characters that they spent so litle time on. In fact three of the five main characters had enough screen time in the film to be considered cameos.

And as for the series yes it is slow. The series was planned to be a multiple season show thus they drag its ass in the dirt and ruin some of the breakneck action the original source had to offer.
