"This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" a book about trolls and memes, I think the author got trolled or is trying to troll readers who know what's up. "Let me explain a meme and then get the context wrong". Sorry for shitty pic but I laughed when I saw it, this is the quintessential example of academics fucking up while studying internet culture. Serious revisionist history going on here.

your english is quite fine, don't worry about it. As for the screenshots, it's pretty simple, just follow the naming convention on the review page (wadname##.png) and put them in a zip file and ask Bloodshedder if you can pm them or email him. We need 5 more reviews for the next chronicles, every little bit helps.
-
Alright, I'll check what I can claim and try write review with screenshots. This will fun, I guess.

Aside from my pacifist run series for Eviternity, been doing some slow steady work on Liberosis.
Did some texture colouring to make use of the palette, looking good in DSDA Doom so far
Haven't decided on which keys to use yet, or if I want a gold/orange key. Had to fix all the lasers from NeonDM because they were poorly tiled and coloured but that's fine. Seemed to come out alright. Hoping to hear a bit more feedback on game play in the demo, if you try it, let me know how you felt about it!

Thanks for giving it a run on each game mode. They should be roughly equal in difficulty, so "skill level" is really a misnomer, going to have to change that via dehacked for sure. Was the different pathing good, did each play through feel distinct?
Otherwise the main thing I want to know is if you had fun, and it seems like you did, so thanks again!

I found that HNTR was a little tougher, mainly due to the room where you teleport in, chaingunner to the left, pinkies coming at you, lost souls coming around the corner with Revenants, the Mancubus waiting around the corner to the left. That was a tough one mainly do to the confined space in that area.
Yes the different paths in the different settings were good. They all felt unique, which was cool. They worked well. I did have fun. It was definitely fun to play, no doubt! Reminded me a lot of Bourgeois, which is a good thing.
I have a question. When you have many of these maps lined up for the player to play through. Do you just randomly pick your difficulty level and go with that one as you play through?

Videos and demos have different pluses and minuses; on one hand demos suck because there is no phone-version of zand 2.blah.blah, let alone the beta version of 3.0 we used, to watch the demos on. And of course gotta get the wads/pk3s. However, the ability to switch between players freely or just ghost cam, in addition to being able to watch offline, really adds to the usefulness of demos. "Best" to do both :)
-
Good points, for sure! I don't mind the limitaitons of video for the most part, the tradeoff for the convenience is so worth it in my opinion, especially since when I sit down to 'watch things' I'm usually in bed trying to fall asleep. When I'm sat down in front of a computer I'd rather be the one playing or making somehting haha :D

well guys. heres the link.

Did you want to try out @Dragonfly's awesome new map as seen here? Here's your chance, it's time for some Progressive Duels with @Fonze and others. Other maps received facelifts and reconstructive surgery as well, check out the solid work done by the team.
Hook yourself up with zandronum's latest beta build if IDE/DE won't automatically install for you, found here, Windows only and put it in your "testing" subfolder without unzipping it.

Ever since status updates got hidden I forgot they existed
Finally wrapped up Progressive Duel 2 after a very long fine-tuning processing time and expansion from 5 maps to 16 + a hub, and 2 of the original 5 got chucked into the bin. If you don't want to bother checking out the topic, here's the pack directly or perhaps a screenshot gallery will suffice. Onto the next project, whatever that may be. Should probably start working on NeonDM or close up Hexecution, but a single-player pack beckons I think.
For those who ignore the multiplayer forum, recently a MP centric discord has been set up as a hub for the major MP ports for all game modes (DM, CTF, Cooperative, Survival), MP focused projects and events, check it out if you are interested in playing some wads online with people or just want to have a chat (got about 70 people in so far, far more than I expected!) https://discord.gg/gsVSHGK
Now that the zandro team-deathmatch tournament has concluded, perhaps its time to run some pick-up, 1 night duel tournaments....

I'm unsure of how I feel about this blog format, though I think this new forum software in general adds a lot of personality. It sure gives off the impression of a lot more activity, even if in posting content itself there isn't a ton. Many avatar changes; and as I updated my own I'd like to state for the record that, contrary to some people's belief, this is not actually a pic of me :/
As I continue my reading journey I was reminded of this topic along with several other people.
"The single greatest cause of sudden death among beautiful, young, female players is that the guy who was role-playing them wanted an irreversible out" - Richard Bartle "Designing Virtual Worlds"
What a fantastic quote that applied to several people in zandronum's community. Bartle dedicates a section of this book to "masquerading" or opposite gender role playing in virtual worlds and damn it just fit perfectly with some of the people I've seen around the Doom community since late 2009. If you're interested in virtual world design and dynamics I recommend picking this book up!

Reading journey continues. Interested in theoretical aspects of games and play but don't want to read anything that will hurt your brain?
Check out the MIT Press "Playful Thinking" Series
These short and easy to digest books combine aspects of video game design and principles within foundations of theories of game (in the conventional sense) and play. May or may not be of interest to people here interested in fundamentals of play theory and/or game design.

Releasing Protosis: https://doomshack.org/uploads/protosis.zip
Not really worthy of a thread I guess, I didn't like the direction Liberosis was taking so basically decided to restart it with a fresh slate and just package up these 2 little maps as the prototype. Map02 pretty much untested, hopefully there are no major problems. Yes I know there are graphical glitches and maybe some other quirks. Limit removing, CL2, has a dehacked in the wad. VPOs for sure, probable medusas in Dosbox, but any other port should work fine.
Enjoy
