    to be honest the music of the trailer doesn't really fit with anything that music we've heard so far... that was a trailer by some 3rd party that probably didn't like that it was scrapped or something... we might get a similar trailer, but with mick's music. either way, that trailer got some serious hype going on...

  4. I'm not sure how many technical people are on this forum, but here's how I think can SnapMap support more than 4 players. Since SnapMap works by you hosting a game, I'm guessing that 4 players is the limit for one machine to host, since it's using P2P. What if there are multiple hosts? What if they spread the computational logic to 2 hosts? Maybe one host can handle bullet detection, while another can handle the map triggers and what not. Basically like multi-threaded work, but over the network. Yes this might add latency, but I think it might be done. If someone has a better understanding on how MP games work, maybe they then chip in their ideas. I myself am a Software Engineer, but I've never worked with games and really have no idea how net-code works in games. Any thoughts?

  7. wow, glad to see tech savies here. stuff got complicated fast... giving everything that was said earlier, i guess 4 was indeed a safe bet. still, i think they can host the logic on their dedicated server. they already have a hub that hosts the `manifest`. maybe if the game sells well, maybe they can tap into this cloud thing everyone's using. titanfall uses Windows Azure as far as I know. good chat folks :) i've learnt something from this...

    You know what this means don't you? On Thursday, they'll be a bunch of YouTubers playing that SP mission. Seeing that some these guys, did a better job explaining SnapMap than Bethesda did in their live event, this is gonna be awesome!

    Found this over at /r/doom. Apparently Bethesda did invite some other youtubers to play the DOOM Beta. Would be nice if there was a list of these kinds of videos somewhere on Bethesda's site. If you guys find some other montages like this, feel free to add them to this thread. Warpath seems pretty nice and interesting. Official Beta starts tomorrow!

    First post will be just asking permission. Not sure if this is a leak or not, but there's a post on /r/doom about DOOM Beta Menus. The PS4 Alpha got updated to Beta and apparently the game runs, just the servers are offline (possible bot play?). I'm going to link to the thread. If this is considered as a leak, I'm sorry (please don't ban :-s) Reddit thread.

    I've updated to OP with videos from /r/doom Special thanks for all those guys there. Hope that AirRaid is ok with me cross-linking stuff from the sub-reddit :) He didn't say anything up until this point, so I'm guessing he's ok with it (for now). EDIT: @AirRaid, can this thread be pinned, so that people have a centralized place for these kind of videos? They may be tons coming out when the beta goes live, and it might be a good idea to not have a thread for each one...

The code allows the participation from 02 to 04 April. The codes are sent on 02 April from 00:01 e-mail to the customer.

  23. I can confirm that it works via a VPN. No idea what I just did, but I think I did it. I have no knowledge of any German, but the layout seemed pretty straight forward on what to do... I used tunnel bear btw.

Around the 5:45-5:55 mark, when he turns suddenly, you'll get some amount of texture pop-in. Now I know this was a problem in id tech 6 (See TB's WTF is Rage video), but it seems that it maybe still present in the new engine. Now I know most of you are going to say something along the lines of:"hur-dur, it's only a beta". True it is, but I think that Betas are for balancing stuff, infrastructure testing and what not. I don't think you'll beta test an engine, as engines are far more difficult to implement and bug fix (though not entirely). That's just my opinion, though...
