Have you ever had a crush on a videogame character?
everennui replied to MTF Sergeant's topic in Everything Else
Death by Snu Snu! -
If you're using UDMF, you should just be able to edit it in the thing properties menu when you right click the item. Check the tabs. Look around. If you're using Zdoom/Hexen format, https://zdoom.org/wiki/SetActorPosition is probably a nudge in the right direction.

Pretty bad, to be honest. The first two maps make you think it's going to be a DM set, but then there's monsters from 3-9. Strange. This is the guy who designed the levels for Dead Space? It's impressive to see the Dehacked files and all that stuff, but they don't really matter much. The levels are really lack luster. I realize this is from 96, but I've played much better, older maps than this. I'll give a star for the novelty of having a "famous" level designer's early mapping, but it's just another 1996 map. Fun for history, but you aren't going to find any really compelling game play. It's more challenging than average, but there isn't anything interesting happening.

Just curious. I've only just recently had the pleasure of using a nice mechanical KB at Best Buy, and now I fell in love with mx Blues and I'm regretting getting the CM Devastator 3.

Right. ...and you realize the futility pretty quickly and move on instead of dwelling on it. Sometimes I wish they had a plate smashing store around where I live because that release of anger can be so satisfying.
-
Whatever. You don't know the situation. You're your own person. Results may very. Quitting from a game is a lot different than failing from IRL things. A game hasn't pissed me off more than a fuck you in so long. I haven't BMX'd since my bike was stolen. The last time I did I just cruised around, did some basic flatland stuff and did 360s off curbs when I'd see a cute girl. I was probably 20 when I last threw my bike. When I threw the windex the other day it was because I thought I had just fucked myself from nearly $2,000. At some level, I probably needed to mop the floor to take my mind off things. Sometimes you just need to be mad. Succumbing to rage isn't destructive in and of itself. Wrath is a whole different subject. Anger can never dominate me because I can roll with the punches pretty readily. In my life, I've probably broken only a few things. This thread is about your worst rage quit(s), not how you found God and completely redeemed yourself. I'm not out smashing shit everytime I get pissed.
-
Sometimes rage is a great motivator. When you've just jumped a set of twelve stairs and you fly off and skid your face across asphalt and you're bleeding. You will get angry. You've probably never been there. When your pain is overcoming you and you have a goal and you know you can achieve this goal and you are the only one stopping yourself. You channel the rage. Get pissed throw your bike and swear at it. Roar! It's better than crying and being defeated. I am a warrior. Thousands of years of domination runs through my blood. Get angry. Destroy the fear, and triumph. Ever since I was 12, I've had a job, so I learned very early the value of a dollar. My family didn't buy my entertainment. Not a controller I smashed. I worked for it. All of my brothers and sisters are hard workers. If there wasn't four controllers, perhaps I'd've thought twice. I was a baller when I was young. One of the only kids who had jobs, and found ways to make money. Getting angry and destroying things does relieve anger for me. I don't know why @Anidrex_1009is so definitive in his assertion that it doesn't. It's cathartic, and there is a lot of real world anecdotal evidence that supports this. I don't get out of control and break shit. I make a decision to break something. Shitty, cheap laptop (that you bought with your own money when you're 25, on your own, paying rent and taking care of your own shit) causing you a problem? Destroy it. Trying in vain to express a piece of expression through music. Life is art. Throw it. (why not, you paid for it. Hey, you got a job.) Throw your bike. (you woke up every morning at 4:00 to go detassel corn in a wet cornfield that would turn into a sweltering march of corn cuts for a while summer to buy it) MY Schwinn hydromatic was a tank. You're not breaking that bike. My beater guitar that I (me. With my job.) bought used, for cheap, 15 years ago. I wish it would break. Then I'd have a reason to buy a new one. (cause I have a job) My laptop served me well until almost the very end. Is it violent? Yes. Is that bad? That depends on your bias and how you connotate the term. I'm a pretty stereotypical man in some regards and if I have to slap myself in the face to amp myself up - I will. Adrenaline is very addicting. Frankly, it's one of my favorite things about having big testosterone filled balls. Being in control of yourself is what's important. Don't be an asshole and hurt other people. ...or try to. That's when you have an issue. There's a lot of really tall horses around these parts, eh?

If you've never rage quit a game, you're probably not immersing yourself in the game enough. I find your statement to be a potentially disingenuous, but I will never KNOW for sure. Nintendo 64 days were my bane. I probably broke three controllers. I also smashed a cheap laptop because the cost of doing so was less than the impact it was having on my sanity. It was one of the best feelings ever. I'd do it everyday if I could afford it. My own personal Office Space moment, but with Bluegrass music instead of gangster rap. I have a tendency to not know when to quit. I push myself, "I got it this time." over and over again. Often times this bubbles over into anger. I still throw things from time to time, but I'm at this point in life where the price of the item has to be really low or negligible. This is few and far between. I threw a bottle of Windex across the room the other day. It landed, was fine, and then, as if God extended a middle finger to me, the lid fell off. The transition between winter and summer also has an effect on my guitar. That really sucks because getting used to the new tones after months of consistency really angers me. I've wanted to completely destroy it before, but I've only ever chucked it once. When I used to BMX if I crashed and hurt myself, I'd blame it on the bike and whip it across the street. Raging is a great way to relieve anger, and I'd recommend it to anyone. Just don't be an asshole and hurt other people.

How do Doomworldeers deal with general stress?
everennui replied to Battle_Korbi's topic in Everything Else
Lately when I get stressed out, I lift weights and then run as fast as I can until I almost puke. -
Why does everyone hate Doom so much?

GZDoom Builder freezes on Visual Mode
everennui replied to godfatherpayne's question in Editing Questions
I think it could be a number of things. Do you have enough ventilation in your case? I THINK you'll have problems if you run a huge bottleneck (I do). What is your display setup? Mine crashes if I use two displays like clockwork. The best thing I can recommend is getting an older build. That might help. Are your drivers up to date? -
What would Kevin Lobb say, if he were here today?

poor goats. Only vegan black magik for me. I bit the heads off of 42 sweedish fish.

Just let me know if it works. I like to validate my magic.

maybe it's time to check again? *wiggles fingers magically*

I can see that. Solid color doesn't really seem to distracting, but when it pulsates it seems to catch my eyes. I'm still in love with the raindrop effect.

The CPU/Ram display thingy looks really helpful. I looked at old ones on ebay, but I don't know if I'd get screwed on it.
-
That's a really nice one! Do you take advantage of the LUA stuff?

I've got a few KBs from a local resale shop. This is the first time I've ever spent more than $6 on one. They're all pretty much the same; though, I do seem to type consistently faster with my new one. I've switched back and forth with my typing tests and my accuracy is noticeably more consistent and that really helps out with speed. With the Cherry blues it feels like I'm soaring over they keys.

When I first got my M+KB from Amazon, the LED color toggler didn't work, so I sent it back to Cooler Master and they sent me a new mouse AND a keyboard. So now I don't know what to do because I'm sure this keyboard is going to last a while unless I go, "Angry German Kid" on it, but even if I do I have a backup one. I already want a new keyboard and now I have no way of justifying that purchase. First world problems.

What would you say is your real life S.P.E.C.I.A.L?
everennui replied to Red's topic in Everything Else
Why are we complaining about the numbers in a survey where the answers are self-reported? Don't turn into the boy who cried, "mofo". The average reported number is 6.176. -

I gotta upgrade my strength to a seven because I've been hitting the weights a little bit and my stamina is probably a little better because I run at work. -
I want monitor manufacturers to stop discontinuing nice screens after they've become affordable to make. Or at least not soup it up with a bunch of unneeded crap, like speakers, small bevel, super thing and give options for freesync on ALL monitors even if it has Gsync (it's a royalty free plug and it's open source (free) to impliment). Can I please have a 144hz 1440p 21:9 screen for less than a down payment on a house? Please? Give me a 5" thick monitor, with corn cobs for the stand, a menu in Klingon and the logo upside down if you have to. Just give me what I want for a reasonable price. It doesn't seem like it's worth it to "push" any technology forward with my wallet because a new standard is just a year away. I'm sure there's some real challenges in the production of monitors that I'm overlooking, but fuck, throw a dog a bone. I'm just going to wait until Black Friday for a monitor. I don't know why it's so amusing to me to use such an old CRT with such a beast of a computer, but the prices on these things are outrageous.

I love that song, @Myst.Haruko. Some youtuber, I don't remember uses it.
