The numbers are only estimates based on a limited sample size. There is a significant margin of error, you will see the number fluctuate over time even when sales are flat.

What is most likely to make you play a wad?
BrainMuncher replied to kuchitsu's topic in WAD Discussion
I'm much less likely to play a large map. I'd rather play an episode of eight 5 minute maps than a single 40 minute map. Less likely to play maps that require non-standard doom behaviour like jumping, or are in some way un-doom like (eg. story cutscenes, custom weapons). Generally less likely to play maps that require (G)Zdoom for the above reason. A short description of what the map is like and the intended port is usually enough. Gameplay is king for me so I don't care about screenshots. -
I was killed by a crusher Then I was killed by another crusher Haven't played a third time yet but I think I know what the outcome will be, lol

Journey to Despair [WIP] (MAP02 is looking for feedback)
BrainMuncher replied to NaZa's topic in WAD Releases & Development
It's a long shot but that fact that it worked until you moved it suggests that it could be a loose or dodgy connection somewhere. In the past I had an old PC with a hard disk that appeared to be failing, occasionally becoming inaccessible, just not responding at all. But it was actually just that the SATA connector on the motherboard was loose/old. Plugged it into a different port and it was fine. If you're not afraid of tinkering, I would try (with your PC unplugged of course) unplugging everything (video card, and PCI cards, disks, etc.), and plugging them in again. Sometimes that can wipe oxidisation off the contacts that has built up over time and re-establish a good connection. -
Link to resource pack is broken edit: actually it looks like /idgames in general is broken. Used google cache to get a download link. ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/pc/games/idgames/themes/TeamTNT/return/retres.zip

******* Hmmm, seems that way. Funny, d-e-f-i-n-a-t isn't even a word. -
How often should shotgun put enemies in pain state?
BrainMuncher replied to PsychoGoatee's topic in Doom General
Yeah but poking someone right in their exposed brain would probably cause them to twitch a bit. -

DOOM - Exclusive SnapMap and Singleplayer Streams
BrainMuncher replied to AnonimVio's topic in Doom 2016
I'm guessing to the same extent that the pause menu can be "abused" -
Not a fan of the inescapable death cracks. There's a rad suit right there, of course I'm going to jump in. Didn't save so I had to no-clip out. Other than that, it wouldn't be out of place in e1, although I don't remember the old maps having that many moving parts/traps. Some nice secrets, was able to find tham all without much trouble once I got the map.

DOOM - Exclusive SnapMap and Singleplayer Streams
BrainMuncher replied to AnonimVio's topic in Doom 2016
I just watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i92rgRDT0lI My biggest criticism of this is the sound. I hope it's just a matter of gamespot fucking up the sound on their video, because the sound in general is really murky, it's hard to distinguish anything except for some of the weapons firing. The chaingun is almost silent. The monsters barely make any sound. It sounds like everything is background noise, with nothing in the foreground. Maybe they just had the music too loud, and compressed (DRC) the shit out of it for the video. I was expecting loud alert & pain sounds like in the classics, and booming weapons. -
I remember reading recently that at a meeting of the global council for musical genre definitions, and it was agreed that this should be the definition of "real metal". The vote was far from unanimous, the leading contenders being tracks from Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Judas Priest. Many present were upset with the result, some delegates were seen burning their long-sleeved t-shirts in protest.

Probably my favourite heavy fusion band of all time, shame they only made one album: If you like 90's death:

Alien Shooter 2. Great mindless action. If serious sam, doom 2, and diablo 2 had a baby, it might look something like this. You will run scared from hordes of enemies. You will obliterate hordes of enemies with absurdly powerful weaponry. You will drive a tank that fires mini nukes, and still fear for your life. If you liked that, you should check out Tyrian if you haven't already. It came out a year after Raptor, but is now freeware and has had the source released.
