    I have not seen evil Marines in green armour, but it in steel blue/grey one instead. They appear in Scythe 2, first in "Mr. X" level.

    Thanks for clarification to you both. Now I agree, it is something new to have. However: which weapon should have this mod? Maybe Chaingun, since it fires so fast and so big bullets it could have enough waste fire to redirect. This fire could be ejected to the sides as you fire the gun, allowing you to carve through the hordes like a hot knife through butter, protecting yourself with bullets up the front and fire to the sides.

    They got dipped in the toxic vats by the demons. The demons expected them to grow all big, muscular and green from the FEV inside, but they were mistaken. Instead, they got brainless weaklings that forgot how to burst fire. But at least Former Troopers are green-haired now!

  11. Do you want to have some laughs while watching Doom gameplay? Then go over to SpicyWaffle. These two Texans post two videos every day of random games' playthroughs, mostly violent enough to be on par with Doom, including Manhunt, Hotline Miami and Broforce. One of the longest series they made is on Doom (played with Project Brutality and Ultimate DoomVisor). They have covered Ultimate Doom with Project Brutality, a half of Doom 2, No Rest For The Living, and Brutal Doom Starter Pack. Recently they also completed Doom 4. Today they started with Final Doom, taking on TNT first. Now, why you may be interested in these videos? They are not typical "Let's Players" per se, as they alternate single videos with ongoing series. They also do not focus on game commentary that much. Their shtick is BLOOD DANCING, EXPLODERATING STUFF and ORGAN PARTIES. Corwin, the lead, revels in acting like a total sadistic maniac, whereas Uko (who sometimes does coops/deathmatches with him) is the more coolheaded brother. They manage to make funny videos out of playing even the most obscure games, IMO. There are plenty of di** jokes, but not only that. They are actually rather knowledgeable about video games they play, and can express themselves with a surprisingly wide range of words (for LP-ers, at least). You can notice that this Corwin's slaughter frenzy that dominates the channel is just an act, and you can also expect other, more sensible and factual commentary from both of them. SW may not be the same thing as Doom Guy's Mind, but is not that far off if you want to enjoy Doom Comic-Doomguy impersonation playthrough. Anyway, if you like heavy sexual humour mixed with ultraviolence and want to watch some Doom gameplay, I think that SpicyWaffle is your best bet.     One of the Plasma Rifle mods already enables to vent out the excess heat, so that would be unoriginal.

    My interpretation of E4's setting is a Hell's forward base on Earth. Doomguy got tricked into thinking that slaying the Spider Mastermind gave him a ticket home. Well, he got it... technically. He would expect that Earth was free of Hellspawn, but in fact demons started their invasion there when Doomguy was busy fighting his way to the instigator of Phobos and Deimos attack. When he takes this backdoor teleport to Earth, he finds himself in the heart of the base, which demons bulit as their foothold on Earth (like they were buliding Tower of Babel for Cyberdemon). When you to maange to kill the commander of that base in E4M8, Doomguy finally escapes it and heads to the closest city, but he quickly notices that demons are loose on Earth. He proceeds to nearby UAC starport, and there is where Doom 2 starts...

    Doom II Map 08 and Map 23, because they are non-secret jokemaps. And the latter one is really funny with all those barrel-chain explosions you can set off. So much Michael Bay! More seriously, I think that maps like these, which focus on surreptitious traps, should be delegated to Hell theme. Consequently, I think that map 08 should be exchanged with one of the maps after the 20th. I think that should be map 26 - what "Abandoned Mines" are doing in Hell? It sounds (and looks) like a manmade location. It would make more sense to make it a techbase level - not really logical, but also not as absurd as making it a level between Bloodfalls and Monster Condo. Of course, the things inside these maps should be modified in such case, but the basic environment could stay unchanged. Ceterum censeo Chasma esse delendam.

    Actually, I would want an underslung flamethrower for a Shotgun. Now that would be a formidable CQC weapon! >:] (As of yet, Project Brutality at least have that Dragon's Breath ammo, which is a nice substitute for a Shotgun+Flamethrower combo... but I digress)

    Plasma Rifle is stated to inflict damage via kinetic and thermal energy, not Argent. Besides - does not Chaingun have an upgrade for Gatling Rotator that makes it fire incendiary rounds, which are more damaging than ordinary ones?

    I think it would fit well as an anti-Pinky measure. Bone armour does not do s*** to protect you from napalm. Slow-paced? What is slow-paced about it? Most demons would be as good as dead when they are immolated. And it provides a constant stream of fire, which means it is not a slow weapon. Gauss Cannon is a slow weapon, yet I have not found a single opinion stating it does not fit Doom. Short-range? Doom was always mainly set in levels focusing on short-range combat. And its premier weapons are shotguns. Personally, I am all for a flamethrower in new Doom. Its utterly savage nature is apt for a game about battling hellish horrors. The Mancubus' Cannon is available as a weapon in Brutal Doom, which is one of the strong points of that mod. It fries everything in a blink - I only not tried it on bosses because they are too intimidating to take on in close combat. Everything else is toast real quick. I am disappointed it is absent in Doom 4, which makes a point around brutal finishers, but at the same time it lacks the proper gore in other aspects (no remains are left from slain demons, no bloodstains, no special death animations from Plasma Rifle). Perhaps it is too hard to have a Brutal Doom-esque gore on current graphics engine. Still, the flamethrower should be in.

    Probably everything I am going to write here has been posted on DW sometime, but I will voice my opinion if you do not mind. - Arachnotron is too similar in functionality to Chaingunner, as it also fires nonstop on sight. It is actually a less dangerous enemy, because its weapon is not hitscan and it is much bigger, which means it is hard to position it as a sniper or in an ambush. - Hellknights are too similar to Barons. They should be significantly faster to compensate for their lower health. - Revenants are to lanky too have twice the health of a Pinky. Armour does not help them much if they are just a pile of bones! If their health values would be swapped it would actually make a sense, since that would turn Reveants into proper glass cannons and make Pinkies a bigger threat. - Pinkies should deal damage when biting instantly, AND THEN multiple times before the animation ends. How is that for a dedicated melee monster? - Lost Souls have too much health, I said so already in another thread. It should be down to around 70. - Original SFX are too obnoxious to me to tolerate. Too cartoony. I always load PSX SFX wad. (not a surprise, because my first Doom was Final Doom on PSX - nostalgia actor is strong here) - Arch-Viles are too durable, I think, for demons that have so little muscle they could be supermodels today. I would tone it down to around 400. Mancubui could get 700 instead. - Blursphere gonna blursphere. - Rockets having the same carry capacity as shotgun shells is absurd. I would change it to 60/120 for shells and 20/40 for rockets. - Pistol s**** d***. So thoroughly tedious to use I would rather use my fists all the time. - Chaingun is too slow. It should fire three times as fast. It is also misnamed, but in a good way - "Minigun" was probably a joke anyway, so screw it. - That infinite chainsaw. Wow... I want one!

  24. Actually, I thought that mods and other customizable "tacticool" s*** were common these days in COD, Battlefield and the like. As if outfitting a reflex sight or something makes your gun SUPER EFFECTIVE and totally fresh. It made sense for example in S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which has surprisingly realistic ballistic mechanics, so even a simple optical scope makes a big difference. But not in COD with its godawful simulation of weapon performance. So I was skeptical about weapon mods/upgrades in Doom, thinking they are unnecessary. But I convinced myself to them (in D4D) and I find them improving gameplay variety considerably. Still though, id could think more about them, since as is demonstraed in this very thread, most of mod pairs are not balanced at all. This applies most to Tactical Scope and Precision Shot - slapping a zoom function to the weapon is not very imaginative, and no wonder they are made pretty much obsolete by their counterparts. I think that TS should be replaced with autonomous fire mode (like Smartgun from Aliens - it will fire only with trigger depressed and something in the crosshair, with autoaim mastery), and PS for a wide shot capability (and make Siege Mode single-target only).
