    I don't get DOOM II

I would attribute it to the addition of the Super shotgun, and that most mods use Doom 2. As for level design I would disagree. I've never played through Doom 2 in it's entirety, even though I have played the 1st one several times through. I think it's more to do with the absence of episodes, then the quality of the levels themselves. IMO Doom 2 has some really playful level design in places, like the map where you make the Spiderdemon and Cyberdemon fight, or the one where you need to traverse rooms full of explosive barrels.

Post your Doom video! [but don't quote video]

I tried to do one of those mod first impressions videos.
  3. I actually first heard of the game from seeing a strategy guide for it a about 7 or so years ago. There's a thift store that I would walk down to every once in a while when I was 14 or 15, (at the time I lived a few blocks away) and I would look through the books. I saw an old strategy guide and remembered looking through it, it seemed pretty cool so I kind of took a mental note in the back of my head that I would have to play it when I would be able to get ahold of it. Being a kid with no money I wouldn't be able to buy it, I would have to ask for it as a birthday/christmas present. A few years later I got an original xbox for my birthday(this was well into the 360's cycle I believe) and I got Doom 3 as one of the games with it, since my list of wanted games was maybe 4-5 games long. It was the BFG edition of the game, so I played the original game after I got through 3/resurrection of evil. I remember spending 15 minutes trying to figure out how to jump, and it was weird that I couldn't aim up/down in an FPS. Played through episode 1 and didn't even know there was more than that.

    Battle: Doomguy VS Doom Slayer

I assumed they were the same person and that the demon outbreak in DOOM 2016 is actually the 2nd time it happened. Doomguy became trapped in hell somewhere along the line (I see people mentioning Doom 64 but I haven't played it all the way through yet.) The Praetor suit is just a redesigned version of the suit from the old games, and the part about him not being human I assumed was bullshit and the demons might have made up some sort of mythology about him whilst frozen. When he is strapped to the altar in the beginning of the game we can see that he sure as hell does look human. But probably the biggest reason I think they are the same person is because there is an artifact in DOOM 2016 that depicts the Doomslayer. The artifact is an engraving of the cover of 1993 DOOM. And apparently if you kill yourself by shooting an explosive barrel on a classic map the doomguy sprite is shown inside the helmet. I uninstalled the game so I can't verify that.

Can I post a video with Doom gameplay in the backround but isn't actually doom? I made a video where we send each other erotic pokemon pictures, and I put our voices over doom gameplay.

    Heretic and Hexen

On a similar note, is the discussion of Build Engine games allowed? Like Duke3d, Shadow Warrior, or Redneck Rampage?

It is from ESCHATOS. "Survive" arranged version. I realize that it it out of place. I wanted to use Deicide but I didn't want to get bitched at/ flagged for it. Again sorry if the OP doesn't want something like that in the thread, but I thought it would be ok because it was DOOM related. Something different than more gameplay. :P

I don't know if tutorials count but it's doom related so I'm going to go ahead and post it. Also later I'm making a video where I react to random erotic pokemon art my friend sends me, I'll probably record doom gameplay and flash the images I comment on on the screen over it. I'll post that if that is acceptable. And possibly WAD playthroughs but I can't give good commentary while playing.

    The Doom Confessional Booth

I downloaded HDOOM. And I liked it.
  10. I can't find anything on custom sprites. What format do they need to be? I used some pngs and converted to doom format in slade, but when I start the wad the sprites are invisible. Going back into slade shows that the sprites are now colorless. Is a lump the same thing as a Wad directory?
  11. Yes, that works. So by default a player does not have an ID? Is that why we are changing it to 1 with a script, or is that only to make it easier?
  12. Another probably dumb scripting question. I'm following a tutorial on the Zdoom wiki that says to assign a Player start with Identification of 1 from the "Effects" tab. There is no effects tab in doombuilder 2, only actions, so I assumed I was supposed to assign a tag of 1. http://zdoom.org/wiki/A_quick_beginner%27s_guide_to_ACS The script is correct but does nothing.Compiled before starting level as well, and map is Doom in Hexen format.
  13. Thank you, i was wondering why it was using "Pain".I haven't seen anything on doom spriting. Do new sprites need to conform to size/a color palette or anything like that?
  14. I have a really dumb question. I followed the tutorial here http://zdoom.org/wiki/New_User%27s_Guide_to_editing_with_DECORATE The zombie soldiers do shoot the fireballs but they fire their gun sometimes as well. how do I get them to stop firing the gun and only shoot fireballs? Also is this the same thing I would do to import monsters I make into the game? would I just insert the new sprites and txt files into slade or doombuilder?
