  1. Thanks. I'm making a WAD spreadsheet. I'd probably get banned here if I were to make thousands of posts here asking for each WAD creator's email address but the rest of your info is good. What do you mean by check different sources?
  2. They only increase your health and armor by 1 and they're usually found as a single item or as a small group of items so when they're collected they don't have much of an effect compared to getting a Stimpack, Medikit or Mega Armour. The only point of them seems to be so you can get 100% completion of the level for collecting all the items.
  3. Found one with a good personality called Savvyjones10:
  4. Do you know of anybody who sold a Doom II WAD they made commercially as a standalone game (after the 1990s)? Did they sell well? I'm not expecting to get rich but it would be cool if I could make at least a year's salary. GZDoom is licenced under the GPL so I assume that means you can sell it commercially and bundle it with a WAD you created? But what about the original Doom II textures used in my WAD, is it legal to include those and the music and sound effects? The Gloome Source Port seemed to suggest you could sell a WAD you made using the original Doom II textures. Is that correct? A video game developer who published their own game commercially (nothing to do with Doom) said that under copyright law, in video games if you change a texture even very slightly then you're aren't breaking copyright. Haven't the original Doom 2 textures been upgraded with high resolution textures in GZDoom or is there some other high resolution texture pack that can be commerically used? And would that count as changed textures?
  5. Pretty much. I'm sure I could learn coding and other stuff but I doubt my skills in that would get to a high level.
  6. I like the art style of everything in Doom apart from the water for example which doesn't really look anything like water. It looks really bad. I don't think having realistic liquids would spoil the art style of everything else.
  7. Do you have a link to a realistic water/nuclear waste or lava texture that you can swim in please? I've never seen one before. It looks like Action Doom 2 used exclusively their own textures though.
  8. Because they're coders and I'm not. Hence why I would use the money to pay someone to develop a particular feature that I'm looking for.
  9. I don't know what your point is. I'm aware there are fan made enemies for Doom. It's just frustrated me that (correct me if I'm wrong) there's never been better designed versions of the stock enemies in Doom. There's been bad looking 3D versions. I like the voxel mod that makes enemies 3D but I'd like the enemies to look a little more realistic while still keeping the same look. I hate the way the enemies look in Doom Eternal, far too detailed, the classic Doom enemies look better.
  10. I've seen realistic textures using PBR materials. If it can do that then why can't it handle realistic water? In any case, the source code is available for GZDoom so I could potentially add those features myself if I wanted.
  11. Yeah, it's not about making a living, would just be cool to get something back for the time invested, I'm mainly doing this for fun as a hobby. The main goal is to donate 50% of the profits to the Doom community in adding features to GZDoom such as realistic water, scenery, better monster textures, etc. What I was thinking was I would build a reputation making several well received WADs for free and then I would release my commercial game. I know on Steam you have a main game and then you have DLC addon packs for it. But what if you don't have the main game and just sell an IWAD, is that allowed?
  12. The reason I ask is that the Gloome Source Port seemed to suggest you could sell a WAD you made using the original Doom II textures. 13. Whether it's a glitch or not as long as it looks like a glitch. Show a screenshot if possible.
  14. Or do people just play them out of curiosity because they're infamous ?
  15. For example: A person's first map where they put a single monster in a large square room with plain walls with hardly any decorations and they have multiple rooms like that.
  16. Does she prevent her streams from being re-watched as I can't see any videos on her account apart from a few very short clips.
  17. Nearly all wads use cartoon-like wall and floor textures such as the default textures in Doom II. Why are there hardly any wads that use realistic textures such as PBR materials? Is it because they're hard to make? I thought there's plenty of places on the internet to get free realistic textures?
  18. When you enter the teleporter to end the level you get taken to a place where many enemies shoot at you and you die but still complete the level. Does anyone have any information about how that room works? Any info at all would be of interest and if you know the answer to these questions then please let me know. Is that room actually part of the map? Does the level end automatically after a couple of seconds of being in that room or only when your health reaches zero? Is there anything you can do to stay in there longer or prevent you dying such as using an invulnerability cheat? Can you actually kill any or all enemies in that room and do those deaths count towards the kill count? Here's a video of someone who said they managed to kill everything in that room but it's difficult to see if that's true because it's so dark:
  19. Thanks for the info. Sometimes I just don't know what to search for on that site even when it's obvious. For some reason I only looked at the Baron of Hell page.
  20. I would have thought that when designing your own textures that it would be more difficult to design a cartoon texture to fit the art style of Doom than it is to make a realistic texture because we know what a realistic texture looks like as we can see them in real life.
  21. I assume a McGuffin is what you said earlier in that paragraph?
  22. What do you mean by "wwEU"? Does anybody know what items count as items with regards to 100% items collected on the end of level stats? I know there's the health potion and armor bonus but what other items?
  23. Is it difficult to make a map without large groups of enemies because I assume experienced players can just easily kill them or run past them? Are there any WAD examples of hard WADs which don't have large groups of enemies? And by hard I don't mean by limiting the players weapons and ammo.
  24. It was ported to a pregnancy test. What other things has Doom been ported to (not including consoles or computers designed to play games)?
