  1. I'm on a West platform. Within jumping distance on the right there's another platform and I want it's walls and floor to be invisible when looking at it from the West platform but when you jump onto the platform it will NOT be invisible any more. However when you're on the East platform you can actually see the platform. How do you do this? Ultimate Doom Builder instructions preferred or I'd settle for GZDoom Builder Doom Builder 2 instructions as well. Example screenshot is below.
  2. It should be visible as soon as you're standing on it.
  3. I've added my first post again to be more clear. When standing on the middle platform it should NOT be invisible.
  4. I've added a screenshot to the first post to better explain what I want to do.
  5. The following exist. There may be more but these are all that I know of. Need the ones NOT in bold: Cobra Doom Episodes Volume I - III: 72 new levels on 3 Floppy Disks. I've already got this. Cobra Doom II Episodes Volume I - II. 60 new levels on 2 Floppy Disks. Think I already have this. Cobra Doom Utilities: Over 350 levels for Doom. I've already got this. Cobra Utilities for Doom & Doom II - Over 1,100 levels for Doom & over 100 levels for Doom II (Got this & I'll add it to archive.org in near future) Cobra Doom Utilities 2nd Edition: Over 900 new levels for Doom Cobra Power Pack with 2,300 levels for Doom, Doom 2, Heretic, etc. I've got this but don't have the front cover. Does anyone have a scan or photo of the front cover? Regarding this: Cobra Doom II Episodes Volume I - II. 60 new levels on 2 Floppy Disks. I've seen the boxart so this title is correct. Yet I've seen what I assume is Volume III and IV of that here: http://dlw.doomwadstation.net/Doom2_3.html Is that correct and were those volumes never released on Floppy or CD? Are there any more not mentioned above? Does the pack with the most levels contain all the levels in the previous packs? Are the levels in the packs just taken from single levels that can be downloaded from DoomWorld? Does anyone have any downloads of the above that they can share please? Thanks
  6. For example I don't remember seeing many user made levels back in the day that had a large groups of enemies in them. Was that because of the limitations of PCs in 1994? What was the maximum amount of enemies you could have on screen at once and was there a maximum amount of enemies you could have in a level?

'Wads of Wads' CD from 1994

Does anyone have a working download link for Wads of Wads please?
  8. I heard somewhere that one of the game designers said it was supposed to be boiling blood or that it said that in the game manual. Can't find it in one of the manuals, perhaps it was a different manual. If you know please give me a link for proof. Also do any levels in the official classic Doom games or expansions have blood that does NOT damage you? Also if so, please mention the game and map if you know it.
  9. I use GZDoom to play Doom wads. Apparently the default setting smooths the pixels but it also uses incorrect colours or something. How do I smooth pixels but keep the correct colours, etc?
  10. But the jaggy pixels aren't smoothed in software mode.
  11. Are there any Doom levels that are impossible to complete due to the difficulty (I'm not referring to maps which don't have an exit). Of those maps are there any which are good or do they all suck? What's your opinion of good maps which are impossible to complete? Do you still like them or do you think they shouldn't be made?
  12. Say you have a non-interactive portal where you can see through the portal without going through it. Is there a way to have the player press a switch to change the portal to an interactive one? Can I also have the portal change texture or colour when the switch is pressed?
  13. This map has a slightly raised floor and the player can walk off of it but the enemies can't. Is that normal or has the map maker made it that way? Any thoughts on that being a good or bad design choice?
  14. How did this YouTuber realise there was a blockmap as it looked like the shots were hitting the Cyberdemon as you can see blood on every shot?
  15. OK thanks. Is that the smallest height platform that an enemy won't walk off of?
  16. I don't know what you're talking about. What's a stove pipe?
  17. Perhaps to give the player a feeling of hopelessness. Like at first the player thinks he has a chance then as the map gradually progresses you realise it's impossible to win.
  18. I heard a YouTuber say that in a playthrough but I don't know what it means.
  19. I know about glides. Is the same method used in the video below? Or do you just stand close to the item for a second until the item is picked up? Example here:
  20. I'm making maps for playing in GZDoom. What shapes do wall pieces have to be? Are they always square/rectangular or can I make a circular wall piece or other shapes? Could I make a statue as a wall instead of as a decoration that isn't a wall?
  21. Thanks. I'm making maps in Ultimate Doom Builder (former name of GZDoom Builder) for playing in GZDoom. You mentioned I can have a 3D model of a statue but is there any way to make complex shapes in Ultimate Doom Builder such as making a statue in the program instead of importing a 3D model? Can I have circular wall stones instead of rectangular bricks, arches, slopes, etc?
  22. Thanks. Is there any special movement you need to do to get it to work and do you need to stand next to the item for over 1 second or is it instant?
  23. The Readme for Freedoom says the following 2 paragraphs that seem to contradict each other regarding limits: Will a map with thousands of enemies work in Freedom or is that beyond vanilla Doom II's limits? What other limits are there for maps I make for use with Freedoom?
  24. Havok

What are the limits of Freedoom?

Makes sense, thanks. I'm just using Freedoom so I can play Doom II user made maps with Doom II graphics. So if I do that the maps won't have any limits, is that correct? Can Freedoom play the main Doom II game in it's original graphics instead of Freedoom graphics or can it only do that when playing user made wads, etc? Also that static limits link that you mentioned, does that mention all the limits in Doom II as I don't see it mentioning the enemy count limits?
  25. Does Doom 64 have lots of elevation changes and stairs, etc like Doom II? Whenever I watch a YouTube video about Doom 64 all I ever see is flat areas with basic square shaped rooms.
