    My dysfunctional teenage past comes back to haunt me yet again. This is something I cooked up when I was 14 to get attention. The wad in question no longer exists but it was just a shitty few rooms slapped together in 30 minutes with a bunch of deliberately missing textures.

    The idea of this thread is very simple. 1. Gather a selection of images that appeal to you for some reason -- don't think too hard about this. 2.     There was an edited version of the "abstract kind of feel" wojak going around, with flames and a skeleton added to make it into "abstract kind of hell": I thought this was appropriate for Sandy's abstract hell weirdness in Doom so I shopped his face onto it. I dunno who was responsible for the /vr/ post back in 2013, my memory doesn't go back that far and I would've been like 16 then. If it wasn't me, then it's a case of convergent evolution.

    I would not want to work as a barista in a doom wad, La Marzocco machines are too expensive to be exposed to demon carnage and the heat from the nearby hell lava would make all your shots pull funny.

    It's become rather ubiquitous to the Doomworld experience to me to see posts by naive newcomers who are new to forums in general and think "Oh no, this poor kid's about to get eaten alive" while my stomach drops a little. This isn't unique to Doomworld -- it's something baked into old school internet forum culture in general. While etiquette and best practices should be enforced, it doesn't take much effort at all to have a little compassion and empathy while enforcing them. As far as I'm concerned, the SA mindset of making newbies learn the ropes via inflicting pain on them ought to be a thing of the past.

This is a reworked version of Mourning Halls from DTWID-LE, itself a map based off of Rending Halls by @General Rainbow Bacon Changes include: - Greatly improved navigation and simplified progression - Spiffed up visuals - Questionable secrets have been redone or removed - Cleaned up automap - Reworked difficulty settings - Tons of subtle little quality-of-life improvements - Various bugfixes - Removed any multiplayer bits, may re-implement multiplayer later but probably not - Further eschews TWIDness for the sake of polish Port: Limit Removing (Crispy Doom with infinitely tall monsters disabled recommended) Mouselook: No MAP: E4M6 Skill Levels: Yes (UV Recommended) Difficulty: Mildly Spicy to Delightfully Infuriating (assuming you're a casual player) Bugs/Issues: - A certain spot in the big central blood section used to randomly bug out due to what I think was a node builder error. I think I've fixed it, but I'm not 100% sure. - Not a bug, but the cyberdemon encounter is still very much cheese-able if the player is smart with conserving their ammo in the rest of the level EXTRA NOTES: While this map doesn't have an *especially* steep learning curve, it does have one nonetheless, and patience is rewarded. You are given the tools to survive if you're willing to look for them.     I've made a wee change to the starting area. Have fun ;) Edit: @Clippy It looks like I've not done a particularly great job of signposting the two teleporters in the big blood area that take you to the outer ledge; Biodegradable had the same issue as well. Are there any changes you would suggest to make them more clear?

    Doom 64 was one of the first Doom games to support bisexual lighting, edged out only by 1995's PSX Doom. Doom 64's texture palette may be dull and grey, but alas, its colored lighting allows for all colors of the rainbow. Doom 64 is, always has been, and always shall be, an ally -- one as strong as the forces of hell itself.

  20. I don't know when this feature first showed up, but it's been in since at least the days of GZDoom Builder. It looks like it's an option on all map formats including vanilla; not really sure how that's supposed to work. Is there any practical use for this feature, and does anyone actually use it?

    Update: Accidentally left a couple super hellslime sectors in that I forgot to remove, plus a couple texture misalignments in the starting area that I glossed over. Fixed and link updated. EDIT: God dammit, found a couple other bugs. Updated again.
