    Doom Eternal E3 - Sunday 5:30 PDT

My story guess: Hayden knows about the 3rd fraction (we should definetely find a name for them) and actually wants their technology & power. Thus he unleashes Hell on Earth (btw it looks more like he unleashes hell in our solar system), uses the Crucible to corrupt all realms so the 3rd fraction is forced to intervene.

    Doom Eternal E3 - Sunday 5:30 PDT

I just rewatched it several times on Youtube slowed down to 0.5 and 0.25 to have a closer & longer look at all the details. What I like: The Marauders look and movement (scene 5). Doesn't look out of place. Haydens voice is much deeper now. i wonder why? Space/planet disaster (scene 1) Hell priest worship (scene 3) Slayers face reveal (scene 4) What I dislike Unknown fraction/world (scene 2). It really doesn't look Doom-ish to me at all. It looks very clean and blurry/foggy. The Phobos scene in the Quakecon reveal also had this clean Sci-Fi look and feel. Especially scene 2 strongly indicates there will be at least 3 fractions (UAC/Earth, Hell, Alien angels).

Doom Eternal mural spotted in LA

I don't think the winged creature in the middle is Hayden. I'd expect his fall in the last few levels of Doom Eternal, maybe even in Doom 2022. He is such a strong antagonist and protagonist, it would be a shame to waste this potential. Btw, do you also expect the demons to almost die because of fear? I mean, they know what the Slayer has done to them in their home (hell), what will he do when fighting in his home?

I heard Samuel is not the villain of this story...

Doom Eternal mural spotted in LA

Don't worry anymore. The latest pictures show that I was wrong. But I'm still curious why the SGN has as planet like surface.

Doom Eternal mural spotted in LA

If you zoom into the mural picture you can clearly see the round object has crates, valleys and different glowing segments. For me it looks like a planet melting in the fires of hell. Like Hell on Earth. At first this image also reminded me of SGNs but it lacks their clear shape and color.

Doom Eternal mural spotted in LA

Looks more like a planet in the claws of a dark Seraphim/hell priest to me.
  8. Even as a German I remembered the melting pot phrase being mentioned in school. It was mentioned in history and english classes as one of the core values in US history. On the other side I don't think id Software is part of the new right movement or whatever it is called these days. I think they just used that line for the sake of sarcasm and hybris.

This is what dark Seraphime entities are...imo

I don't think they are going to introduce heaven. Doom is about fighting hell. As soon as they introduce heaven they have to make it Yewish/Christian, Muslimic or generic. Each decision has it's own downsides. By focusing exclusively on hell and the universe in general they have much more freedom. This doesn't mean we're not going to see good Angels, but I would be surprised to see a specific God or heaven reference. Btw, the Yewish/Christian heaven would imply Earth has already been destroyed and rebuilt (see Revelations) with hell becoming a place for eternal torture. In Christianity Satan is not the ruler of Hell - God is. Will the Slayer then fight against God? Or did Hod loose the final battle and Satan rules heaven and hell? As you see, introducing heaven is not so easy ;) Edit: I just noticed Doom 2016 already has a WoW/Fantasy vibe, just remember the Codex entries about ages of hell, different lords and so on. Heaven would not fit very well - maybe we'll encounter a clean Science fiction level, not corrupted by hell, with good Seraphims. But I wouldn't consider this as heaven.

He got the Praetor Suit from the wretch. Maybe this made him the Slayer. Btw, why was he outside the Suit in the beginning of Doom 2016? I thought the Praetor Suit was indestructible? I don't think the UAC staff in the Phobos sequence remember him personally. They are afraid of him due to the announcement.

Should secret levels make a return?

I liked the classic maps in the new Wolfenstein games much more.
  12. Same here. It reminds me of Quake 3. On the other side, Doom 2 already had a lot of platform elevators which weren't common at that time. And some jumping puzzles too.

But will it still require Bethesda launcher, like Ubisoft and Rockstar?

    Excited For Eternal?

For me Doom Eternal looks much more Quake 2-ish than Doom 2016, especially for the Phobos part: BFG 10K: Compare Quake 2s orbital gun / big gun: https://quake.fandom.com/wiki/Big_Gun Human NPCs (even talking): https://youtu.be/ZwIaz-liqaw Strogg enemy (as seen in the Stadia video) The Sentinal Prime level (I really hope the player visits this in the very beginning, since being confronted with all the lore would be great after Doom 2016 left players with so many unanswered questions) and Hell on Earth look very Doom-ish.
  15. Maybe Hayden teleported the Doom Slayer to his home (Sentinel Prime) at the end of Doom 2016?
  16. I miss the good old times when a German PC magazine used hidden video cameras to capture early game footage :-(
  17. I still dislike the Maurader, although I really want to like everything Doom related :-( For me he looks more like a Heretic, Hexen, WoW or Diablo character.

Oddball theory on the Marauder and Doomslayer

I like your theory, except for the last paragraph.

DOOM: Annihilation - the new Doom movie

Did anyone notice the trailer introduced Slayers, not the Slayer? I'm afraid every character is considered a Slayer - this would perfectly fit to the directors statement Doomguy is generic as player one.

    Eternal release date...i bet u...

By releasing both games in the same year they'd split their traditional fanbase. The initial release is just the first step of a game product, followed by media specials, DLCs, community development and so on.

    Eternal release date...i bet u...

Because of RAGE2, it's going to be in 2020. 2019 is the year of RAGE2.

DOOM: Annihilation - the new Doom movie

What do you mean by "to refer to the Blazkowicz Doomguy character"? I thought the Blazkowicz Doomguy connection was just in an RPG? I'd expect Slayer to be more gender neutral.

    "It's too cartoony"

I like the one in Eternal much more. Looks more serious and "rough". Doom 2016s Baron was way too cartoony. Like a Lego brick demon from Warcraft.

    "It's too cartoony"

I really liked all monsters, except the Arch-Ville and the Cacodemon. Doom 3s monster design was very "fleshy", it really emphasized Doom 3s universal rendering approach. Maybe I should replay the game?

Very, VERY worried about the final product.

Just look at the 3 Wolfenstein games and Doom: Bethesda doesn't seem to harm id Software and Machine Games. When considering the quality jump from Doom 4 Alpha to Doom 2016 you might even argue the so called 'Bethesda mode's helps them to create better games.
