  1. Is it normal to be a bit disappointed when someone says they dont like your map? I'm pretty sure it is, but it just makes me want to do better.

It's normal to be disappointed, but at the same time you shouldn't worry about it too much. Everybody has different preferences/tastes. So you should never actually try to make everybody happy, because that simply never ends well.

A healthy way to handle feedback, imo, is to take the parts you agree with based on your own design-perspective, work that feedback into your map, and temporarily disregard feedback that entirely goes against your design idea of your own project until later down the line.

The only criticism that I think is always best taken serious is when people point towards repetitive gameplay design choices.

Wanting to do better is always nice, but at the same time you shouldn't put yourself under too much pressure either, because you can't please everybody to begin with.

Thanks everyone. At the end, I map because i enjoy it, I enjoy designing the maps, the encounters. they're fun to me, and I think thats what matters.

It's 100% normal. Say you make a map that totally kicks BTSXs ass (just imagine). There will always be some asshole that has to bitch about it. You can't please everyone, unfortunately.

but, criticism is not bad thing. It's good for you as helps you strive to do better and better every time :)
