  3. There are actually three things involved. Romero's head is the third one, which doesn't say anything when it sees you nor does it shoot any cubes. The head is what you kill to end the map. The monster shooter and monster spawner are both invisible.

    In Empyrion, starting with the fourth map, all the maps have an Easter egg with 2 soul spheres, blue armor, and all of the weapons, but they are designed not to be found. If you manage to find your way into one of those without me showing you how to get in (and without noclip), congratulations! You have truly earned the goodies within.

    D_RUNNIN is the song for MAP01 in Doom 2, but your map's name is E1M1 and your IWAD is DOOM.WAD. Try renaming the song to D_E1M1.

    Chasecam in zandronum?

    In Zandronum's ESC menu, go to Options / Customize Controls, and choose a key for Chasecam. I use Z. It looks like you might not understand what chasecam does. It is not something that activates when a player dies. You might be thinking of deathcam, which centers your view on whoever killed you. Or maybe you are thinking of Coop Spy, which is on the F12 key by default. When you press the chasecam key, your view switches to a 3rd-person view from behind you.

    Changing map's name

    Unless you created your own custom title graphics, get rid of the titlepatch line. Then, the title you specified will show instead of the default title graphic. If you don't set a music or sky, your map won't have them.

    Don't delete DB2, but give GZDBBF (or DBX) a try. After a brief time adjusting to the changes, you will be glad you upgraded, and DB2 will start collecting dust.
  15. DSNOWAY is the sound for pushing on a wall, and DSOOF is the sound for landing. In the Doom IWADS, they are identical, but you can replace them independently, with no need for SNDINFO.

    Give me your wads to record.

    I love watching people play my maps, seeing the map through their eyes. There are 14 maps, but you don't need to play them in 1 sitting. They are Doom2 maps made for Zandronum, and they work in GZDoom, too. The secret exits are near the spawn point on maps 10 and 31, but they are not available until the normal exit is available. All skill levels are supported, including a custom skill level that replaces Nightmare with Slaughter, which doubles the ammo and adds more monsters that do not respawn. If you want even more monsters, type multiplayer in the console in Zandronum or addbot in GZDoom, and then restart the map with the changemap command. Despite the name of the custom skill level, these are not slaughter maps.

    I would try a CustomInventory actor that replaces the ammo, uses the ammo's sprite, and gives both the ammo and health in its Pickup state.
  18. You can't spawn a player in mid-air, but you can teleport the player to mid-air, with the Teleport(Z Axis) thing.

    Creating New Weapons. If you are making a melee attack that the player has when he starts, then you will also need this: Creating New Player Classes. For kicking, you will probably wind up using A_CustomPunch.

    Diagonal linedefs are longer. Is this normal?

    A reasonable approximation for an octagon is not too hard. Set your grid to 32, for example. Then draw your octagon with 4 grids on the horizontal and vertical sides, and 3 grids on the diagonal sides. It is not perfect, but it is usually close enough for the player to not notice any imperfection.
  21. I remember reading a long time ago that you must have at least 2 sectors for a map to even run, but maybe that is a limitation of the original exe.

    How to make a pwad?

    Start a new map in your map editor of choice, and when you save it, you will give it a file name. Then, you will have a pwad with your map in it. Later, you can open that wad and edit the map some more and/or you can load the wad in your port of choice to test the map.
  25. My Hell Knight's Tower is supposed to have the red hell sky showing through the windows. That would place it at the beginning of episode 2.
