Game reviews on Edge are just mediocre like that one - they gave Doom 7/10 just because you can't talk to demons. WTF are they smoking back then?

Back when I used to lurk on these forums, I checked on Post Hell first to see the lulz. That's the only thing I missed when the site had a revamp.

Does Realms of the Haunting count? It was unique that it's an adventure game combined with first person shooting. Killing Joke is the next one I can think of.

what's a wad that you'd recommend to a newbie?
DoomKnight1984 replied to roadworx's topic in Doom General
Doom Tribute Project and Zone 300 comes to mind. Then Sunlust and Reverie if your friend likes a bit of challenge. -

It's best to ignore this guy...I feel that the more we talk about him, the more people would like to know him better...then after that, they will believe every lie that he says to them. If people get wiser and stay away from people like him, he will eventually wither away and be remembered as a piece of dirt in mankind's history.

This map may not be entirely Lovecraftian but this isn't bad: https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/a-c/beydkdth

Only a brain-dead being would buy his "essays." I'm better off spending 25 euros on something else than a glorified essay on why the author's a** smells better than his neighbors.

He just wrote that to spite Doom and its fans, that's how I see it. These people will just write anything to feed their egos.

Doom wads that are actually fun to play.
DoomKnight1984 replied to Redxone's topic in WAD Discussion
Doom Tribute is a fun wad as well since it combines the stories of Doom and Doom II in one package, there's one level there wherein you'll be fighting in a train. https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/megawads/doomtrib -
Alright. That "guns n' monsters" wad is really useful for those Cthulhu-themed maps.

This game is just another Mighty No. 9 from all the SJW drama involved.

Finally found all 4 secrets, thanks. -
Unusual gameplay, or: How I learned to love the gimmick

I tried Unloved once. Almost an endless supply of monsters to kill combined with a really creepy atmosphere makes a memorable experience. Haven't found the wizard in Shrooms 2 yet... -
From a cult classic movie...

It would be nice if there's a "womb" map part as hell merges with reality, kinda like this but I'm not sure if there are such textures existing from the original Doom 64.

[v1.5] Doom 64: Retribution
DoomKnight1984 replied to Nevander's topic in WAD Releases & Development
You mean this one: "Hey, Nevander, I love how you made the doom 64 mod. For purist and casuals alike. But i had a little request and, maybe, and interesting idea to share with you. I'm desesperately waiting for the Retribution chapter and i was thinking that i would be awesome if you could put the missing monsters in it. Like the Revenant (maybe make this as PSX DOOM? Slower, but deadlier), the Spider Mastermind, and, (i don't know if this posible) a new graphic Arch-Vile. I know that the original Doom 64 doesn't have them, but well, i think that the Retribution chapter, the one that links the event in Doom 64 with Doom 2016, NEEDS them. I would be great if is there a way to show how doomguy gains the brutal atitude that he have when he becomes the DoomSlayer. Well, i write a bit much, sorry if i bother you. but i can't hold on to myself when i start dreaming of your Retribution chapter. Its so much fun brainstorming ideas. Hope you give the community an amazing new chapter in our favorite game. See ya!" Hey, I'm a bit excited about that new episode too. -
I can imagine myself still playing DOOM in 20 years.

Not sure if I'm still alive after 20 years but I see myself still playing Doom past 40. -
Favorite piece of architecture in classic Doom games?
DoomKnight1984 replied to DoctorNuriel's topic in Doom General
The first comes to mind are Maps 2 and 9 of Episode 3 of Doom. I liked the fact that the overhead view looked like a hand and the place is cramped-up with demons lurking on many sides. While Map 9 is an almost direct copy of Map 1, the place changes once the Cyberdemon shows up and the atmosphere tells you you're now in Hell itself. -
And millions aren't familiar with Jontron as well. I'd understand if his target audience are kids.

Looking back, I wished I appreciated the game more. 20 years ago, Final Doom for the Playstation was my guilty pleasure and to me, Doom 64 was just another port of Doom for a different console so I never gave a second thought about it. Having played it, I can say I prefer it now over Quake.

I don't know who introduced the "act-like-an-immature-brat-to-be-funny" thing, but now a lot of people online are doing that and it's annoying...plus the fact that those people think too highly of themselves. Thank God for Video Blocker and the fact that I don't plan to meet them in real life.

There are tons of wads produced for Doom every year. That's the enduring proof of Doom's popularity. -
That reminds me of those Youtubers that try to be funny but aren't. *ehem*Angryjoe&jontron*ehem*
