My affinity for shotguns can be traced back to Contra and Doom, even though I don't own one.

But we can always use a nuke and wipe out the shit out of the demons. However, that is not easily accessible. So I guess stick with rifles to do the job partially.
Also, why no love for megaarmor or blur spheres. Imagine a <<Spectral Elite Force>> taking care of the Spider Mastermind (or Icon of Sin) and closing the portal to Hell, while the rest of the demons are being dealt with by the regular army. Only thing is that they need to have some kind of visors so they don't kill each other, while shooting blindly and they have to keep taking blur spheres in order to stay invisible (hope the spheres aren't addictive).
Finally, you can have invulnerability. That is nooby, but if it is demons or zombies we are talking about, then it would provide the extra needed help.

It's sad when other people look at a different meaning to what you've just said instead of taking it at face value. The levels of human interaction have gone worse than before. I won't be surprised if World War 3 breaks all of a sudden all because someone slipped on the floor at McDonalds.

How I envision DoomKnight1984
-
The problem is that sarcasm doesn't turn up really well in text, UNLESS you make it incredibly damn obvious that you're being sarcastic in a post.
Besides, if you ACTUALLY don't take that "gold-digging japanese women" stereotype seriously, you need to check your posts very well BEFORE submitting them. Otherwise, I highly doubt any japanese woman would like to date a foreign guy with a shitty attitude and/or barely knows how to properly phrase things.

Do girls play Doom as well?

All the ladies are playing Death Foretold Back To Saturn X on Zandronum

Doom 2016 - is it really good or another "Call 'O Doody" FPS?

Good thing Doom 2016 went back to basics instead of succumbing to the CoD formula. Personally, the reason why I was hesitant to try Doom 2016 was the feeling that it's going to be like CoD as well like many FPS games nowadays...glad I was wrong.

Sometimes, I wonder why I was born in a country where people are overly sensitive and prone to provoking fights on the internet when in fact they have an inferior mentality and nothing to prove after all.

@Da Werecat - I wouldn't be surprised in that case. Many people seem to have that mentality. And then I'm reminded that my people elected to have a dictator be buried in a hero's grave and our church getting in the way of using contraceptives yet we have a problem of overpopulation and they prefer poor people to breed like rabbits. I tell you, our values need an overhaul.

I sometimes listen to him, first song I heard from him was Rebel Yell.

What would be a better boss than Baphomet/Cyberdemon/Spider Mastermind?
- Show previous comments 4 more

The best bosses are those who match Doomguy in mobility and require great skill and reflexes. D'sparil is the best example I know of. It's like he was designed specially to nullify the advantages the player has in any other encounters.
Seriously, take your time to make the boss battle memorable. If he can be beaten by your repeatedly hiding behind a pillar, he's too easy.

It is shameful that I prefer small maps of Doom wads rather than maps that take 2-5 hours to finish each?

To each their own... I'm not necessarily always willing and able to bash my head against a +40 minute map. For me it's the variety, really. Shorter maps are the kind of thing I like because they're easier to memorize, longer maps are something I enjoy the most once I'm done with them, it feels like "I earned it". If that makes any sense. Of course my point of view is entirely subjective.
-
Yep, to each their own, there's no accounting for taste, and similar phrases. I personally prefer a map that takes me 20 minutes or more, rather than a map that can take me less than 5 minutes. Now if this short map represents a total challenge, then it will memorable for me. In longer maps, switch-hunting can be fun if it doesn't go with a lot of backtracking. If there is challenge throughout the whole map, I'm sold.

What are those wads that are humorous in nature to play? No terry wads or nuts-type wads please.

Mandrill Ass Project. Massmouth 1 and 2. Expired License. All great WADs.
If you're playing multiplayer, this one is godly: https://zandronum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5423
And since I suggested quite a bit, I'll plug in my own WAD. If you do play it, I'd love a bit of criticism.
-
If crass meme-humor is not your thing I'd recommend Pirate Doom, if you haven't played that already. It's genuinely funny at times, but in a rather gentle way. Also not overrelying on community in-jokes and the like.

It Only Gets Worse, The Archives are Doomed..really most stuff by Wills could fall under this category.

Yeah, many people seemed to have contempt for disco and I can understand why - the "effeminate" singing that rock fans disliked. I don't mind disco music, though. I was a little lad when I went inside a disco pub...nothing fancy, just people dancing and drinking. The "modern" disco scenery would be the "rave" bars.

Yeah, I stopped going to those places...I can't hear much whenever I stay too long in there.

Anybody watched the new Power Rangers movie? I feel that I'm too old for this stuff...
- Show previous comments 3 more

Damn! The Rangers I watched in my childhood were Ninja Storm and when I was a bit older, I got to see Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive. They were good, but not as as good as Mighty Morphin. That said, I want to see the new movie sometime. I mean it won't be like when they remade Ghostbusters, so there is nothing to lose.
-
Go go Power Rangers!!! the first soundtrack is my favorite. I love it since I was two or three.

Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do. That guitar is better than I even remembered

I just feel annoyed when some religious groups will condemn you to hell if you're not a part of their religion. Probably, they're the ones who should rot in hell for their hypocrisy.

See, that's what I like about the religion I follow (Voodoo). Some of us actually also follow christian beliefs or something else, and it's fine, because it's kind of like the same approach to one and the same thing, more or less. If you choose not to believe in a "spiritual deity" of sorts, it's fine too. Doesn't hurt me, or anyone else for that matter. Vivre et laisser vivre.
*meow*
-
As some very much non-religious, the main thing that bothers me is when people try to use religion as a valid reason to pass legislation in this day and age. You can think I'm going to hell and I couldn't care less, just get your hogwash outta our laws and rights.
-
Some organized sects want to know how much you're earning so that you'll have to give a percentage of your salary to them to earn your loyalty. If I go to hell, someone should bury me with a couple of assault rifles, shotguns and rocket launchers.

Japanese women are pretty. Wish I can marry one without the gold-digging tendencies.

lmao this is one of the saddest things i've read all day

Woman with japanese lineage here! Not only do I not need your money, I also don't need that attitude of yours. And trust me, I'm very "diplomatic" in terms of how I phrased this!
-
See @DoomKnight1984, you need to learn how to phrase things in a generic and non-offensive way, like I did. ;-)
Or maybe you should just stop generalizing people based on demographics. Just saying...
-
I don't remember someone making a weapon set wherein you have a machine gun that fires knives...

Wish I'd go to Texas to sample their meats right now. My sister got lucky. http://www.thedemocratictravelers.com/blog/salt-lick-barbecue

Sausage-fest and meat galore. A feast fit for vikings, I guess.

We need a Doom Guy action figure. So far, I only have the Marine Major from Quake II.

Depending on the alignment of the stars, I hope to procure a discounted one. Or else, I might have to sign a devil's contract that would grant me instant $200 and in exchange...I will have to donate my left arm and left leg.
Kidding aside, $200 is too much for this one...hell, I'd rather buy 2 Punisher figures from Mezco instead for that price.

Back to reality. Goodbye to authentic Japanese food, tourist spots and the ladies.

Never played pachinko although arcade machines are still alive in Japan.

Just finished Castlevania: Symphony of the Night again after 10 years. The game's 20 years old this year.

There's a lot of attractive Japanese women near the place
where I'm staying here in Osaka. Turns out, I'm living close to a semi-brothel.
-
Sometimes, you need to feel a bit invincible while playing...like playing Unloved and setting the damage modifier to 2x and enable regenerating health and ammo for 10 seconds.
-
It's a game, so playing it God there doesn't hurt anyone (aside from the demons, who will beg for their lives). id already applied the invulnerability powerup to give us a small taste of invincibility, but adding some more doesn't hurt somebody. :)
Don't get me wrong, using cheats permanently, would lower the challenge of the game a lot, but having these powers for a limited amount of time can be a helping hand, I guess, or can make the mood lighter, especially in a mod like Unloved. Honestly I haven't encountered this use of modifiers again in Doom (I find it interesting) and I think it would work well like a Deus Ex Machina.
The only similar thing I have seen happening, is myself using the cheats on San Andreas, for fun. It was nice flying over Los Santos with the jetpack, while it is normally unlocked two cities away, but still I didn't use the code for a limited amount of time, which sucks. Instead I did the whole game like this (I am ashamed of doing that, yet it was so fun). :(
-
I remember using Gameshark to play San Andreas for the infinite health and ammo cheat.
Normally, I'd cheat if I managed to finish a game without cheating the first time. Although there are some games that might force you to cheat if you've failed too many times.

It's amazing that people still froth in rage when they find out that some people play the games they grew up with in a different manner and not "the way it was meant to be played" in their time. If we had that kind of mentality, then there wouldn't be a Doom community.
-
I miss In-&-Out. It's way better compared to our local version of it.
-
Saw some old-school Resident Evil toys from Toybiz. Chris & Jill plus Mr. X. Still thinking about buying those.
-
@Piper Maru - Yes, I actually have the Marine Major from Quake 2. A shame the line was discontinued, I plan to buy Athena when the opportunity comes.

Señorita, bésame mucho! Works every time.
