  2. Hello, fellow doomers! My MegaWad project advanced a lot, and because of your feedback, I've made a lot of improvements! I'll launch in this month a new demo, with 9 maps! Yes, it is just a demo, but you'll have almost 2 hours of gameplay! I've fixed the issues in the first five maps, rebalanced HMP to feel more challenger, and added new areas in the first five maps. In this thread I will show a lot of new pictures! You can watch the news about this project in my Twitch https://www.twitch.tv/elderdragonbrasil This WAD support coop mode to up to 4 players. Map 08 will support DM for up to 4 players. GZDoom 4.0.0+ compatibility. Playtesters for other ports are welcome. Final songs will be added only in the end, but I am planning on change the tracks of the maps of the demo, just to help immersion. Also the skies will be change after all the maps are done. Also, Cyber Baron is confirmed as our first custom monster in the WAD! My cryteria about using custom monsters is very harsh, because the new monster must add new layers of fun and complexity to the combats. That is the main motive I don't use Baron of Hell (only a few), because it is just a Hell Knight with more health, make it just a boring enemy, with slow attack and too much health. Cyber Baron on another way, we push his speed and he is a tough opponent throwing rockets and fireballs, functioning as an easy and smaller version of Cyberdemon. Health setting of our Cyber Baron is 1300.

  6. Well, after watching your playthrough, I did some changes in HMP. It was much more easy that should be, so I already make some modifications in the balance of the maps. Also fixed the Red Door in Map 05. Now HMP will be much more challenger.
  7. Be sure I am. Yeah, my WAD flirts with vanilla all the time, and actually, this first five maps are a demo. Today I am already start to work in Map 11.     My first map - Innocent

    I did some changes in the first part of your map, just as an example for the suggestions that people made. I've placed a chainsaw in the start corridor, then I put a berserker in the mini lava room, to maintain your idea of rough start. The major changes I did was in the texture, put some middle textures just as examples, and fixed the aligment (just press A ou shift+A). The scars on the corridor's wall, I have first to put all the texture in the same height, then press "A" to align.

    Hi, I have many tips to help you. It is a good start for a mapper, but, of course, you have a long road of improvement, which is normal and good. I think the biggest challenge is always to start a map that function. Take my tips not as critics, but just as it is: tips. :) 1) The first area is the only big problem, because is a annoying combat, with low ammo, that you must battle the pinkies with your fist (without berserk). That type of combat is not difficult, it is just time consuming, you should avoid this type of things; 2) Some textures are unaligned. My tips is go to the 3d mode and press Shift+A to align your textures; 3) I can see that each room you are improving your mapping skills. One tip to improve your design is to use some textures between the change of walls. It is what a I call midtexture design. This way, you avoid a weird look, and make the visual less confusing; 4) The lava trap of the false exit, you should made it faster, because I could avoid that. Anyway, nice trap, you did very well there; 5) The map will have a better pace, if you distribute more the ammo and weapons. You can give the players difficult encounters without the necessity to remove the ammo. One thing that you will learn is that the best way to make your combats difficult is the place you put the monsters. For example, the best challenger you put in your maps was the room with Chaingunners. That was nasty and good! 6) Be careful with the usage of invisible monsters. After I kill the first pinky, I already deduce what come next, and it was quite easy to kill all of them. When I take the key, you could use some monsters (not invisible) to ambush the player. Would be an awesome trap; 7) The room with a crusher and 3 revenants. It don't feel difficult, it was just annoying, because, you have to wait the crusher to go up and continue blast them with super shotgun. 8) A good way to improve your mapping is to watch other maps streamming (I am one of them) or maps with great vanilla design (I don't recommend maps with advanced textures, because you can get confused with so many details). John Suitepee did some streams last month doing a map, that is nice to watch too. I will give the link of some mapper streamers: https://www.twitch.tv/elderdragonbrasil - My channel. Anyway, this first map you've done is a good level for you too improve and apply more features.

  24. Hello, fellow doomers! For people who don't know me, I am David/Torbran from Elder Dragon Brasil. I am doing streamings (twitch.tv/elderdragonbrasil) of doom mapping for the megawad ElderDragon2021. I've finished Map 07, and working live in map 08. In this demo, I bring again the first five maps, but with a lot of modifications. It is important to say that I didn't change yet the music, neither any of the menus or intercourse parts of the game. 90% of the changes in the demo is design detailing, but I there is also some new stuff. *** If you have a wad project that need a playtesting, send me message *** Before you play this demo, know this: 1. This wad is designed and tested in GZDoom. Recomended version is 3.0.0 or newer. 2. No jump, no crouch. You can use mouse look. Turn infinite heights OFF! (lot of slopes, enemies that can make your run impossible, etc) 3. This wad is in ZDoom in Hexen and is trying to be more Vanilla type. 4. All the maps can be done cooperative to up to 4 players. 5. Difficulties settings are very different. Average player should play Hurt Me Plenty. Ultra Violence can be punishing, even the first 5 levels. 6. The focus of this project is GAMEPLAY. Combat are difficult, but fair. There is no shortage of ammo. Some combats are puzzles, that can be solved avoiding spent all of your ammo. 7.
