  1. I hate when I see stuff like this in my subscriptions tab...

I live in a foreign country as well, yet look at my recommendations!

I like all of this :333

As long as one person is envious, we haven't fehled the emprah!

I think the problem with recommendations is just that if you watch a SINGLE video of a certain category, you recommendations will be flooded with them.

  2. I was going around Doomworld in my phone, and suddenly my internet decided to dick me over and stop working while I tried to open a link. After I fixed the internet problem, I tried to get into DW again just to get a "Bad gateway" error. After reloading the page and restarting the browser, the problem continued and I started getting nervous, but thankfully deleting the browser's cookies solved the issue.

And then DW didn't want me to log in. "Something went wrong. Please try again". After some messing around I managed to log in, and thus, I could breathe once again.

    Fucking wireless internet connections.

Oh, so the problem was Dooworld, then?

it happens rarely in this page...so it's not your fault

    3. KVELLER

      KVELLER

Well, even if it wasn't Doomworld, having problems with my internet connection wouldn't have been my fault either :P

I know what you meant, I'm just joking ;)

  3. I played Doom Touch with GLBoom for 30 minutes and it took away 10% of my battery, whereas Asphalt 8 takes fucking 30% in the same amount of time.

If the price for shiny and pretty graphics is a big chunk of my battery, I much rather stay with Doom.

  4. This thing about opinions is very interesting to me. It's just so weird (and amazing) how someone can absolutely love something, but then they show it to someone else and that other person can just go like "You like this? WTF?".

In native-spanish-speakers countries we call that "sobre gustos no hay nada escrito". It means that everybody have different tastes and no matter how incomprehensible can we find others tastes, it's just what makes us equal and different at the same time. I like this!

For example, some players found Urania's map28's midi the worst of the mapset. I myself find it the best lol, and yeah it's weird but it's what it is, different tastes.

    2. leodoom85

      leodoom85

Correction...map 28 is the worst, not the midi :D. "Cada loco con su tema", I must add...

@galileo31dos01 Hehe, I'm from Chile, so yeah, I've heard that.

  5. What was this "Post Hell" thing? I've heard about it, but I got into Doomworld too late it seems.

    1. baja blast rd.

      baja blast rd.

Post Hell is the engine of Doomworld. It takes posts and burns them to generate the heat that keeps everything running, but these posts have to be shitty, because shit ignites faster than non-shitty posts. Before it used to be on display for the curious and the brazen to know their ultimate fate, but it has grown to such large proportions that Linguica, concerned for the safety of all, has locked it away from sight, only to be seen by a secret society of individuals known as the 'moderators', who lurk in the shadows hunting for posts to harvest for the engine. Hope this helps!

    2. Bauul

      Bauul

I heard Post Hell grew beyond the comprehension of human minds.  It transcended reality, and to gaze upon reveals the true nature of the universe, but also causes instant and irrevocable insanity.

Indeed from the Warhammer Wiki entry on the Realm of Chaos genuine Post Hell Wikipedia entry:

      Quote

Post Hell is a place of dreams and nightmares, where cause need not follow effect; within its bounds anything is possible. Here there are no physical laws akin to those that dominate the mortal world. Within its confines hopes and fears become real, and reality is reborn as fevered hallucination. Gravity, shape, space and reason — all are in flux and utterly mutable to the will of the Moderators. Few mortals are capable of perceiving Post Hell in its true splendour, for the living mind recoils from its otherworldly landscapes. Thus, no two visions of Post Hell are exactly alike, and are often contradictory.

  6. I need opinions.

So I found these SC-55 sound fonts (or at least something close) and I started using them for Doom with VirtualMIDISynth. It sounded wonderful, but my laptop's CPU was too shitty to play the music and play with ZDoom at the same time, so I just converted the MIDIs to MP3 with the sound fonts, and put them into WADs.

I converted the music from Doom 1 and 2, Final Doom and Heretic as well ('cause why not).

I thought about uploading the WADs and post about them in Doomworld, but my internet doesn't have a blazing speed to be precise, so it would take a while, and I don't know if people would actually want the music. What do you think?

    1. BigDickBzzrak

      BigDickBzzrak

That's already been done, IIRC. I think it was hosted somewhere on DW but disappeared after the revolution forum update.

I think it was only the Doom games, though.

  7. I... I don't remember if I already played Thy Flesh Consumed in Nightmare...

    Oh no...

I have to do it, but I don't want to do it if I already have.

  8. These "free" Android games are so full of shit that they make DLC look like something fair.

    1. Battle_Korbi

      Battle_Korbi

Solution: Install emulators on the phone. Depending on specs, you could even run PS games on it. I know you can run Doom, at least the GBA port.

I had like 3000 NES .roms torrented once, and they do not take too much space, but not every old game is better than the new, if there is anything I have learned.

  9. I don't have a computer anymore, and I won't have a new one until november-december.

Which means I'll be stuck playing Android games.

I'm worried about my sanity in the next months...

If by any chance you want a change of pace, try Trivia Crack for Android, a q/a game, it's really fun and it's free.

  10. I was reading that kid's topic just now. You know, that one. Anyways, it remided me that the other day I found some YouTube comments I wrote when I was like 13-14, and I said things that I would never say with the mindset I have now. I even deleted one of those comments when I saw it.

I'm 17 now and... I wonder if in the future I will cringe to some of the things I've said now... I hope not.

It is funny how decent competent players never have a mic and are often forced to communicate via chat, while every Russian screamo kid is gifted a shitty microphone upon birth.

Also, being in a creepy-pasta fandom when I was 11-12 still fucks me up, but at least I have learned to write and draw properly from then. God knows what kind of a neet I would be if I haven't jumped in some fandom, so not all past is bad.

  11. Does everyone have to control themselves to avoid shitposting? Because I have to... very frecuently (and I fail at that sometimes).

    1. BigDickBzzrak

      BigDickBzzrak

      I know that feeling.

I've been semi-succestfully controlling myself lately, though.

Sometimes I'll spend 10 minutes typing a reply to some thread and then press Ctrl+W instead of Submit Reply, but still convince myself that I did post it. I'm kinda weird though.

    2. torekk

      torekk

Reminds me of facepunch... back in the days they had a "smartness" system, you'd have like 200 points at first and for each error in your typing and such you'd lose points, if you reach 0 or negative you'll get banned.

That and chatting with other people on IRC helped me a lot with not shitposting, though I still end up in situations like bzzrak where I just write down a post and then close the tab instead of posting.

I just post things when I've had lack of sleep. With that said, I usually apologize in the morning. Another thing that helped me to stop posting new threads in general was Ling pointing out five of my last topics had been thread helled. .... one of which was about a man eating his own feces in court to prove how insane he is. Yes a shit post about shit. At the time I just thought it was "strange news."

  13. I was trying to add custom textures to a map. At first I failed to make the textures display in-game, but at least I had the chance to see bsp in action. Heh.

Well, at least some of them were from posts about two projects I'm working on, and about the rest, I did my best to not throw useless posts.

  15. Hey, could you help me understand a sentence?

I earned a cup in my school as a prize for basically being good at English (we talk Spanish here) and there's a sentence printed on it which, ironically, I don't quite understand.

It says "Life goes round". From the little I get I think it is a little philosophical... I guess...?

    1. Bauul

      Bauul

Also a native speaker here, and I'm not quite sure of its context here!

If I heard it outside of that context, I'd take it to basically mean "life always keeps going" or "life goes on".

No idea what it means on the side of a cup to celebrate achievement in English!  Unless... could it be the school's motto?  Many schools have mottos, like little sayings.  In the UK, they're often in Latin.  For example, Cambridge University's is "Hinc lucem et pocula sacra" or "From here, light and sacred draughts".

    2. KVELLER

      KVELLER

@Bauul I don't think the context really matters here. The school doesn't have a motto and other students got cups with other sentences in English, which are actually much more cliche, like "Today is going to be awesome".

They probably just found these cups with random messages and bought them as prizes :P

    3. Doomkid

      Doomkid

I've never heard this expression before.. Sounds like a goofed up mix of "Life goes on" and "what goes around comes around". I think your explanation is the most likely, maybe these particular cups were less expensive or something, lol

  17. I decided to Install Windows 7 in my Win 8 laptop, with almost no experience in the matter.

I'm currently in driver hell, but hopefully I'll find what I need.

    1. Albertoni

      Albertoni

If possible, only install drivers from the laptop manufacturer's website. Sometimes they're different than a generic driver for that component.

  18. This is the first time that I don't see a popular topic on the main page.

  19. My profile picture is actually based on the Quake logo. One day I just started messing around with it until this thing came out.

  20. I still have my crappy first (and only) attempt of a map abandoned in my hard drive.

Someday I'll add more to it and change a few things to (hopefully) make a somewhat enjoyable level.

    1. BigDickBzzrak

      BigDickBzzrak

Start a new one. It's okay to leave that first level as just a "playground" and make your second level an actually badass one.

    2. KVELLER

      KVELLER

I don't know. I actually have a previous map (that I refuse to call a level) where I was just learning to use Doom Builder, so you could say that one was the "playground".

    3. BigDickBzzrak

      BigDickBzzrak

Well then you've got two playgrounds.

  21. The more time I spend in Doomworld, the less I use Facebook.

I use fb and this forum equally. Some Doom groups, college stuff, useless video/photos about dogs and cats, random music sharing. 98 fb "friends" and no one is talking to me. Sad my life :')

How can you lose points, anyways? Through reports?

    1. Nine Inch Heels

      Nine Inch Heels

Moderators can change rep at will. This forum's software technically allows for a downvote feature, though it is deactivated. So only mods can "provide" negative reputation at this point in time.

  23. I still haven't played DOOM 2016 because of my crappy computer. It's cool to be a teenager and not having too many responsabilities, but having so limited money sucks.

Oh well, everything has pros and cons.

    1. BigDickBzzrak

      BigDickBzzrak

That's the wrong attitude for a dude with a weak computer.

You should be like "Ha, I don't need your dyuum tyu tyausin sixtwiin, real men play only 90s games, that's when games were games, not the junk people sell nowadays!" :]

    2. KVELLER

      KVELLER

I'm just saying this because I've played the shit out of 90's games for about 8 years now :) and I'm running out of games!

  24. Today I had the chance to play with a VR headset for the first time.

That stuff is just... awesome. I can't even describe how amazing I think VR is. It was only ten minutes, but they were the best ten minutes of my life.
