    I thought that would be some mislooked old code, since that map is the only one which had that checking method. And well, that would break every map that has its own keys to check, cheking for vanilla keycards in the script itself was never the correct thing to do because the action 83 exists since Hexen IIRC.

    Aye, it is said the maps are intended for gameplay mods so... i tried it with my own and currently i see there are switches that uses the wrong setup to make them check if the player has a specific keycard, so in my case and Hunter's Moon, the mod rewrites KEYCONF to define new keys for the existing locks to apply new effects and stuff to the keys, however the script the switches uses is action 80 Script Execute and then the script itself checks the player's inventory to check only for vanilla keycards which in the case of my mod is being replaced and the player will never be able to pick them up. I recommend replace all those checks by using action 83 Script Locked Execute, so the engine will natively ask for a keycard lock from the KEYCONF instead of you having to do the check in the script yourself, so mods like mine which replaces keycards doesn't break the maps, i have yet to play all maps but i already faced this problem in MAP03 so far.

    GZDoom Darkness issues.

    If you are really designing it around GZDoom with its OpenGL features and using Dark as default sector light mode, the first thing you need to do is force that light mode through MAPINFO to ensure nobody will diverge in brightness when playing your map, second is that if you really want dark rooms but with very limited vision never use 0 light, 80 should do fine since everything below 60 light is almost pure black.

    There's your problem, the more rooms you add without reason, the more you will feel the map is incomplete, if you add a room just because you had the idea for it but actually have no intention to make it a part of the map's flow besides fill it with resources, hold yourself from doing it so. UAC Vinur Prime was meant to be a medium-sized map for Zandronum survival, however i ended with this monster of 1-hour long of playtime because i did the mistake you are doing:

    Well i can say the challenge in ZDoom is filter what you want with the "cool shit all over the place" it has, one does not simply use everything and expect it to be good, i tried that in the past and the only thing i could salvage from the fucking mess my first wad was were the maps and today i go with few rules in mind when modding/mapping, but yeah i agree that when doing brainstorming things like this is a nice achievement even though not being practical.

    In fact i do know that, i spent a time in opening up Mechadon's maps to see some of sorcery, while being nice many people still uses voodoo dolls mostly to trigger few sectors only, nothing like to build an entire room out of line triggers from a voodoo doll, and being honest, when you reach that complexity with voodoo dolls it is time to move to a format which support ACS so you can get rid of such hackery.

    Hey hey, you are charging the wrong things here, not sure if you are starting to take what Graf and Phade102 said personal but what you said in these two paragraphs basically is up to the Map Editor you're using, not format and AFAIK many mappers still use DB1 or DB2 which already has ceased development, with that in mind, i'm not even sure if UDMF is supported by those considering this format is more recent than their latest versions so the maximum somemone can reach for complexity in a map is Doom in Hexen format. Anyways this last sentence though... not wanting to stay on the side of anyone but... if that thing was true so nobody would be playing any Doom but Doom 2016 since it has an easy-to-use level editor with the best graphics and stuff, same would happen to any other game franchise if next iteration is better than the previous one but as always, new things comes with a price, UDMF in case sacrificed filesize in order to get everything GZDoom can do in a map but this does not mean the end of all other formats since those exists for many years already and to fill the needs for people like you, who i probably suppose likes to make maps that goes no more complex in scripting than a few voodoo dolls right? Classic Doom remakes in Unreal Engine 4 basically:

    It can be true, though i kinda feels that you said it because for simple maps that goes vanilla Doom on gameplay, you will cut UDMF benefits by half so at this is really better stick to binary formats, otherwise if PolyObjs/ACS is required for map control/storytelling or anything else, UDMF would be adopted instead of Doom in Hexen format for sure.

    @Marcaek You made me search for Doom Reinforced Mapset here, and seems in the oblivion of my memory, the last 2 Industron screenshots i posted here is there, have you tried any of the maps there anyway? Can't complain about not having SP/Coop maps in this style atm :P And currently a fresh new one is being made, i just halted it for some months but it is back to activity now and hopefully i'll finish it by this month or December.

    @SuperCupcakeTactics Thanks! That is a typical Industron map, a visual style i created towards 2011 after being stunned by Tron: Legacy and mixed that awesome visuals with Industrial pieces. I know many people dislikes Techbases, but what about Ultra-Techbases? @Eris Falling Nah, Doom '16 is actually nice in the Lazarus Labs theme since it starts use lightstripes like those i did as fine detailing.

    Hi guys, this is Doom in Hexen: And this is UDMF: Choice is up to you, UDMF has interesting things but since many prefer keep maps simple, at this point it doesn't really matter besides filesize, what does matter is the art you're going to and of course, picking a format that supports ACS avoids voodoo dolls hackery, but that's all in terms of plain and simple "Doom". You guys talks so much about technical terms of the formats but in the end nobody will manage to make a map that uses 100% of it anyway... KDiZD is an example that if you try to use everything at once just because the format has such thing avaliable, it will end by being a "beautiful cluttered experience". I'll ward this thread btw
