Actually that's kind of good because I always have the OCD to force myself playing on UV. I guess "the not intended way" is too much scumbag saving? Still, it's still an improvement to beat a WAD like that with scumbag saving. It's kind of interesting that you like Map31 because I heard that Map31 is kind of tedious to do. However, I also feel positive about Map31, and it gives me feelings of Ep2 of Duke Nukem 3D.

Instead of savespamming, I did what I called "iddqd sessions", basically right at the start of each map turn on god mode and explore the entire map, getting to know every single corner, where weapons were (for future pistol-starts and because I tend to not use an advanced weapon until it's provided to me), monsters and stuff, a first general idea and a second more intimate run, a third/fourth or as many as needed to feel comfortable with the map. Although I never savespam, by doing this way I saved a lot of loadspamming and frustration.

I suppose people found AA's map 31 tedious because it's mazy, however a good reason of why I loved the map is because it was the first map where I changed to full resolution in order to appreciate visuals better. And the grey-blueish color plus the purple slime immediately caught my attention.

Also watching demos provided by the community, but I tried to stick to the god mode sessions.
