    Megawads vs Megamaps

I prefer a megawad as while I don't have anything against megamaps, it can be tiresome to replay a megamap since it might take like 20-30 minutes to revisit everything pretty much and well it can drag on. Also I guess I like having multiple maps to replay on more than anything.
  2. I rather quit playing than use cheats to finish an unplayable/low quality wad more than anything. If you do it in single-player, go ahead, just that no one is responsible for making a wad less challenging or enjoyable other than yourself.
  3. One thing that always come to me is remaking MAP13-MAP16 as their level names don't really imply what they should be, MAP13: Downtown being the one that comes to my mind the most. I know Doom is abstract in level design but I still help myself to see the flaws of the maps popping out at times, then again I look at the level names too much. Still like the levels though.

Favourite Doom Game Of All Time?

    1. Ultimate Doom 2. Doom 2 3. Doom 2016 Honestly, as much as I like most of the Doom games (aside of Doom 3: BFG Edition and Doom on the GBA), the Classics on PC are something I'll always remember fondly about. I prefer Ultimate Doom over Doom 2 in terms of level design and music, a shame the Super Shotgun and the new enemies for Doom 2 aren't present. I should also say the new reboot delivered and is everything I wanted in an FPS game for years now, which is awesome.

Things you prefer in Doom 1/2 over Doom 2016

You have a whole episode dedicated to Hell instead of going to Hell just a total of two (or was it three) times. Wish there were more levels in Hell, those were some of the my favorite levels in Doom 2016.

    Leftist Doomers?

In my list of priorities, playing Doom is more important than boring dumb politics. They don't mix and one of them is fun while the other is not.

    Would you rather...?

    1. Stay in one room shooting at monsters pouring from one entrance at least 5 minutes. 2. Do a lot of platforming with raising pillars. 3. Die once just right before pressing the exit button at a end of a complicated and really long map where I forgot to quicksave. 4. Deal with 3000 pinkies after me in a maze. 5. Deal with a. Icon of Sin which only spawns Archviles. ... 100. Quit the game and play something better.

Favorite level in Doom/Doom 2/Final Doom?

Ultimate Doom: E2M6 - I love The Shores of Hell the most in the original Doom and E2M6 is pretty much the level that stands out to me the most. I love how there are three different areas to get the keycards and it really keeps me engaged with the traps and surprises. Doom 2: MAP09 - I got to say, the map does highlight the best of Doom 2 to me in many ways, ranging from the high enemy count, the traps and tricks like the infamous Chaingunner closet, and just being a big map with plenty of secrets and rooms to explore. I guess my only gripes is that if you're playing a mod that enhances the enemies, especially the human enemies, well it might not be a good time but nonetheless, I enjoy the level. Plutonia: MAP32 - Honestly I find most of the levels in Plutonia rather sloppy and forgettable despite some good level design, at least when you aren't facing Chaingunners all the time. But really, for something that can be summarized as an expanded Entryway with difficulty multiplied by a hundred, it really did show how soft I am. TNT: MAP04 - One of the most clever Doom levels (As far as I know) I have ever seen, the level design is great with some of the best tricks of TNT being used here. The level is symmetrical with as if it were mirrored. Heck, you can finish the level early seeing that the exit is pretty much at the beginning, kind of slapping you on that you spent all your time killing enemies for nothing, well not really. The music pumps me up so really, this comes off as one of my favorite levels in all of Doom actually, which is surprising seeing that it's coming out of TNT of all IWADs.

    The rocket launcher idiot club

I often get myself killed by teleporting enemies, just when I am going nuts spamming rockets, one spawns right in front of me and then I get killed. Teleportation, my worst nightmare, especially the Pinkies.
  10. The first time I played Doom 64 was last year with the Doom 64 EX source port so I have my bias in preferring Doom 1 and 2 seeing that I remember the levels from those games more fondly as it is. However, if I have to say anything, Doom 64 does great on atmosphere and the lightning and shadows really do look nice. Gameplay is more "slow" I guess you can say and music isn't exactly as memorable aside of the main theme. Though I don't really have a whole lot of complaints, I enjoy Doom 64 despite that I only played it around once or twice since last year.

    The Military Organization PWAD Collection

So I have played both of the wads and it took me around 5 minutes and each of the levels are less than a minute long, which is really short for six levels in total. Battlepair doesn't really have anything to offer compared to the countless other wads similar to it, that being a bunch of simple square/rectangular rooms with a few Possessed Soldiers and Imps with plain looking textures and design. There isn't any sense of abstract level design or eyecandy to it, it's pretty much two plain looking levels with 2 minutes of gameplay, which is not very exciting either. Fireteam is a slight improvement, but still not exactly there. While rooms aren't exclusively squares with an industrial appearance this time, it still is underwhelming as while you did made use of invisible monsters, there isn't any surprise to them like a closet or having them teleport, even things like that can make encounters more interesting. Doesn't help that for the most part you still fight them in just small square rooms, even the caves (If you can call them that, no offense) are just square rooms with some Imps thrown in. You got to expand a level to be somewhat non-linear and more of a journey than a series of square rooms with basic monsters, otherwise you get something that is forgotten within 10 minutes or less. You got to make a vision with your levels, it isn't limited to basic square room after basic square room.

    Doom 1 or 2?

I love Knee-Deep in the Dead as much as the next guy, but killing mainly possessed humans can only be fun for so long. What made Doom 2 stand out was the addition of new enemies and of course the Super Shotgun, and without that, as much as I love Doom 1, it feels incomplete without them.

What's the worst FPS map pack you can think of?

There are countless of those unauthorized shovelware map packs with thousands of terrible levels, but only ones I have played (partially) are D!Zone Gold and Maximum Doom, which the latter is official funny enough. Out of the two, D!Zone Gold gets my pick, not even worth going through the wads as even the best are just below average at best. Also I find it funny how having thousands of bad levels is somehow a selling point for it, but then again, there was some false advertising on the images, quite shady it is.

    DoomGuy Gets a Puppy [/idgames]

For a wad that is pretty much a small release, this is among the best wads I have played all year. I would even say this is worthy of a Cacoward, I am impressed by the level design and it is really a treat to my eye. I appreciate that the joke about a dog isn't shoved in for the sake of humor and fits well with what you're doing throughout the level, and that is just trying to get your dog back and use it as a Chainsaw against the demons, never thought I would see a dog be the best Chainsaw ever made. Overall I enjoyed it and I appreciate the challenge and enemy encounters involved. I don't really have many gripes, but one I do have are the health pickups, they are abundant sometimes and I managed to keep 100% health most of the time until the end where you are thrown many enemies such as Barons at once. I do appreciate the resource management blue armor pick ups, reminds me to not waste what could be really helpful later on. I kind of have to conserve on ammo but that's not a bad thing, my fault for managing my ammo poorly. Overall, I love the level and all the detail put to it, one of my favorites this year and I love how hard the puppy bites, the puppy is truly a demon killer.

    Doom 1 or 2?

Clearly Final Doom. In all honesty, I prefer Doom 1 for the level design as they fit well with the themes they're going for, even if some levels are sloppy (E2M9), also the music feels more of that Doom I think of. Now I love Doom 2 but some of the levels are thrown together poorly and sometimes the names speak for themselves (What is MAP23 supposed to be?). Now if only Doom 1 includes the Super Shotgun and Doom 2's enemy line-up.

Why are you still playing classic Doom?

I have played many FPS games in the past, and some before Steam was a thing, of course I made my account late but oh well. Now there was Wolfenstein, Quake, and Unreal in my life but out of all the FPS games, Doom just hits a spot that no other FPS game have done to me. The games unmodded are still enjoyable for me to this day and some of the levels remain top-notch with abstract design and just focusing on the fun aspect rather than immersion. Also, it is pretty much the FPS game to promote modding and I find it impressive how 24 years later, people are still modding the game to new lengths. So to me, I find it as one of those games with infinite replay value with new content that doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. Also Revenants, I have a craze for them, luckily you can make your own maps to have as many as you want.

It's been months that DOOM 2016 was released~

It's been a whole year and one month now since DOOM 2016 has been released. I am happy with it 110%, I know some people say it gets too much praise, and to some extent, maybe. But really, the sense of freedom with how you want to play (Don't want to use Upgrades? Go ahead, no one is stopping you) and the customization with the HUD is surprising to me, it really is. I guess my criticisms are that some of the Doom enemies in the classic games don't make a return and some are kind of weak and easy to defeat (Such as the Revenants). Still my favorite FPS game this year and really I can't love the game enough.
