The sound?

As long as optional, and secret message off by default. I love that I have to change almost nothing to get EE how I like it. To be fair, it only takes at most ten minutes to get GZDoom how I like it.

What's the consensus on The Master Levels?
CorianderCastor replied to StevenC21's topic in Doom General
Eh, I like most of the maps, I think it's worth playing, as a mapper. I've been playing the Switch ports of Doom and Doom II with my sister. When we got to the Master Levels what she didn't like were Klie's no escape pits, and the two levels that lock out progression in co-op, Trapped on Titan and Black Tower. -
Best video game ever (that's not DOOM)?
CorianderCastor replied to FireballCaco's topic in Everything Else
Wizardry 8! It might just be the honeymoon phase, but I haven't had such a massive initial positive reaction in a long time. It annoys me that games haven't ripped off Wiz8 more. The Fellowship Saga is coming soon though. Or maybe NWN for user modules. Swordflight is a must play. -
What's the consensus on The Master Levels?

4 hours ago, idbeholdME said: The absolutely worst experience was the level where you have to walk over an invisible ledge to get a keycard to progress (can't remember the name). I had to look it up (that there is an invisible ledge) or I would have been wallhumping in that level to this day. The way forward being harder to find than most hardcore secrets is not a good idea. Vesperas 4 hours ago, idbeholdME said: My favorite was the level with the central elevator in which you sequentially unlock the floors until you reach the top one (again, can't remember the name). The Express Elevator to Hell. Posting on android's web brower is hell. I'll fix this later -
Project DARK (SCYTHE) - Now on /idgames!
CorianderCastor replied to dobu gabu maru's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Nice. Not sure if I have the skill set. -
Oh I love Junko and Crapi, probably for some of the same reasons I enjoy Daggerfall. On topic: Results May Vary

I, myself, wouldn't mind a two-way patch between bfg and new 2020 iwads.

A Doom site poll on platformers, eh? No dos or Win3 platformers, not even an id Software one. Nor any Doom engine platformer like SRB2 or The Forestale. Interesting. Why even a poll? Especially with the weird disparity that is 2D on there right now? Now I can't say what my favorite is, Only FPS and action puzzle I have a favorite in. A long time ago I might have stated Keen 5 and Ape Escape. But now I have no idea, too many great games. And while it may no longer be triple A or even mainstream, platformer is still a dime a dozen in indie space right now. Heck 3D indie is booming. That's why we have games like Spark the Electric Jester 2. I for one think that's great. The world could use more 3D platformers. Thank you Sonic fan community.

Nightmare : Why it was NEVER meant to be played
CorianderCastor replied to Skullhacker's topic in Doom General
At least Nightmare! is not reallyjoel's dad mode. I mean the first instance of that joke difficulty literally prevents ending the first level. Some later versions are actually technically playable to finish however. I like SRB2's hidden harder than hard mode, ultimate. It's a simple addition to any one hitpoint platformer. -
What device do you use for aiming & turning?
CorianderCastor replied to SleepyVelvet's topic in Doom General
What does that have to do with what I said? A fightstick works wonders for Hovertank 3-D by the way. -
Why do so many of you guys have Anime PFP's?
CorianderCastor replied to Wrathoxic's topic in Everything Else
That's very tempting, but I have a sort of pseudonymous branding going on here. I may be a skunkf furry, but I'm pretty sure I'm not attracted to horribly disfigured horse silhouettes within post processed rainbow puke space. -

CorianderCastor replied to SleepyVelvet's topic in Doom General
Gamepad + Mouse is better than Gamepad. I have a flightstick and I don't know how to use that for movement or turning, heh. -
The Unity Port Thread - PS/Xbox/Switch/IOS/Android
CorianderCastor replied to Eurisko's topic in Console Doom
I grabbed these for Switch. I played a lot of Doom Classic Complete on PS3 and Doom II on GBA. In my opinion, this is the best console port of Doom yet. It probably even is the best official Windows port. It's even cheaper than the PSN port with all the same content (more or less) and level select is a great feature. I too am hoping for the Wraith Co megawads. That would make this perfect. -
I have only beat the first two, not sure which I prefer more, I like them both a lot for different reasons. The only one I've played that I really can't seem to like is four. I have no idea why though. Other FF games I played more than just a little are nine, thirteen, and dimensions. Somehow I doubt that. I completed the NES, GBA, and PSP version btw.
-
Mostly maps four and eight are kinda butchered in v1.2. There are other smaller "but why though" moments as well. Really v1.2 feels like beating a dead horse. OTOH, it probably is much better for co-op, and pistol starting is much less tedious. The difficulty of hmp is better too.

Pistol starts vs continuous play: which do you prefer?
CorianderCastor replied to TheNoob_Gamer's topic in Doom General
Eternity Engine has restartmap and exitlevel commands. exitlevel is a developer command and acts as if you hit an exit switch/walked over an exit line. Yes, that means it can skip death exits. -
Akeldama - Now on Idgames!
CorianderCastor replied to valkiriforce's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Played through half of beta 2 already. This is a great megawad. -
Probably worth playing both v1.1 and v1.21. There are pros and cons of both versions.
-
I'd pay twenty USD or less no hesitation for digital version.

Apropos of nothing, K9 would be a good source port name. (Imagine typing that in pwsh.) Maybe a port that is mbfish but with umapinfo and udmf (doom) support. So, a lighter EE with umapinfo support? Hmm, that seems like a redundant source port. Better to include udmf (doom) in a prboom+ branch. And a level editor of course, heh. Now if only I could figure either out, hmm...

Does anyone play software mode anymore? (and Sprite Clipping)
CorianderCastor replied to Jannak's topic in Doom General
Well I use EE nigh exclusively, so... -
Lunar Catastrophe - An Ultimate Doom Megawad (RELEASED!)
CorianderCastor replied to Miss Bubbles's topic in WAD Releases & Development
It plays "mostly fine" in EE with my patch, but e2m6 won't work without modifying the start room (I have a private modification myself) or using noclip. There are similar issues with e1m2, but it can still be completed. I can't tell you if all maps can be 100%'d in EE though, I never looked over this with a fine-tooth comb. I was working on a umapinfo at the time, but decided emapinfo instead, because EE. If anyone wants, I could give it a shot. Although what I'd love is someone to uv-max test this wad completely to get a list of everything that doesn't work in strict ports. Then we could potentially make a prboom compat version (umapinfo branch ofc.) Heh, just noticed a typo in the emapinfo lump. It doesn't matter though. -
What Video Game Are You Currently Playing?
CorianderCastor replied to Neurosis's topic in Everything Else
This seems like a good place to write about my progress on games that I really shouldn't start from scratch and actually eventually finish. KOTOR: got off Dantooine, not as good as Sith Lords. Sword Coast Legends: In Act II, finished three companion quests. The Outer Worlds: On Monarch, should just finish the game already. Skyrim: Over half way done with Dawngaurd, and about a quarter of main quest. Maybe I'll actually beat this game with this character. Unreal: On the last map of the ISV-Kran, which means I'm close to allegedly the best part. Unreal Tournament: Well I did finish the assault maps, maybe Adept was too high of a skill level to choose. And for games I'm currently playing that I have already completed: Quake III: Over half way there, why are the duels so much easier? I still have a massive backlog, heh. I'm going to play through Jazz Jackrabbit soon. What I'm really excited for is Disco Elysium, but I can't seem to actually download it -
BRutal EXtinction International Tournament (vanilla special effects map) — 1.0 released!
CorianderCastor replied to Jon's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Seemed to work in EE. Also it's nice to see these kind of demonstrations, scripting in vanilla is neat.
