  1. Hey Doomworld, been awhile.
    That was definitely unexpected.

Hi! Been working on a lot of Red Faction projects, especially lately. Then I got told that uh, I really needed to come back and make sure my account was secured lol. I'll probably be popping up here more often, just got very distracted.

Yeah... There was possible database breach or something like this.

Better change password with e-mail, I guess.

Also, welcome back, fellow Doomer! 🍕

Rips from a weird JavaME version of Quake 4

Oh yeah, Quake Plus 3D lol. I forgot about that. These seem to be two completely different games but it wouldn't surprise me at all if the same developers made it. (Quake Plus 3D is actually a way better game.) Woah, that sounds awesome! I love looking at J2ME games. The fact that they managed to accomplish that with J2ME is insanely impressive.
  3. There is a strange version of Quake 4 for mobile phones made in JavaME that there doesn't seem to be any info on. I went ahead and extracted the contents, and it has some nice resources that would work for Doom. If you use these I would appreciate credit for ripping them, but it is not required. Q4JMERips.zip

    What ports do YOU use?

GZDoom. Occasionally Chocolate Doom or Crispy Doom, but I usually play GZDoom tweaked to be as vanilla as possible gameplay and visual wise minus the resolution. Higher resolution is very nice. Also, the interface is comfy for me. I used to use Zandronum as my go to port back when I had a potato laptop because it ran most GZDoom stuff well and ran better on my laptop. But I don't use it anymore.
  5. Yeah I'd rather use a keyboard over a trackpad so that's understandable.

    I fuckin hate raisins

I like chocolate covered raisins, but normal raisins suck.
  7. Exactly what I was talking about. I disabled freelook and just use the mouse to look left, right, and shoot. It feels more comfortable than a keyboard. I don't know about that one. I try to play as vanilla as possible, but infinite height psychically causes me pain sometimes. :P

So, did Slade just mess up my .pk3?

I installed the latest version (my previous one was slightly outdated) and deleted the old config file but sadly it didn't fix it. Wow, that's really strange. I have no idea what could've caused it.
  9. I started out with the XBLA ports of Doom 1 + 2 so controller was the way I played. Then I bought Classic Complete on Steam, started playing them on PC, and now I only use Keyboard + Mouse (No Freelook though. Only looking to the right and left vanilla style).

So, did Slade just mess up my .pk3?

Yeah I did restart but the same issue stuck around. :/ I've pretty much given up and just separated my edits into a pwad. Thank you very much for trying to help me though, I really appreciate you taking the time to do that.

So, did Slade just mess up my .pk3?

Yeah, which is why I am extremely confused right now. The even more baffling thing is that if I remod my backup .pk3 from scratch, I get the same issue. And the .pk3 still works fine in GZDoom, so it can't be corrupted. I was thinking something in Slade had to break I guess, right? So I completely wiped Slade from my PC and reinstalled it, and the problem didn't go away. My head is literally hurting trying to figure out what is wrong.

So, did Slade just mess up my .pk3?

Thank you! I did have backups, but Slade borked those too. :/ For some reason, Slade is still crashing even after doing that. Hell, even after using a non modified backup and manually doing the entire modding process over again! I can't figure out what is wrong. I even completely reinstalled Slade. EDIT: Here is the error that popped up right before the crash that started all of this.
  13. Was editing a wadsmooshed doom_complete.pk3 to add some extra maps and Slade 3 crashed. The .pk3 still works fine in GZDoom, but it crashes Slade whenever I try to open it now. Is my .pk3 messed up? Can I fix this? I would really appreciate any help at all so I don't risk losing my work. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
  14. Ehhh we'll have to agree to disagree on that. Anyway, controversial opinion time. If you aren't using the SC-55 music packs, you are listening to inferior music. (Still sounds good and everyone has their own taste so when I say inferior I mean that in a subjective way.)

Do you use texture filtering? Why or why not?

I do not use texture filtering in Classic Doom at all. I think it looks very bad on the low res pixel art and I prefer to have the visuals look as authentic as possible. (I'm also one of those people that meticulously tweaked GZDoom to look as vanilla as possible for the same reasons). For Doom 64, I do use texture filtering as that is the intended look and the assets were created with it in mind. For anyone who is curious, this is what my GZDoom looks like.
